Overview of the Metatheoretical Lens (CRSJ)
Describe the CRSJ Metatheoretical Lens in your own words. Reference the course
readings and other scholarly resources. Discuss the importance of this approach, strengths and
weaknesses. This is not about your scenario at this point, this is an overview of the
Metatheoretical lens within our practice.
Overview of the BPS Framework
Describe the Biopsychosocial Model, including a description of the interconnection
between biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors. Consider the strengths and
weaknesses of this approach. Support your writings with in-text citations of scholarly reference
sources. This is not about your scenario; this is an overview of the BPS framework in our
practice.

Describe the key concerns about the issue your client has presented, in the final case
scenario, to counselling currently. For example, if the counselling issue is depression, describe
some common characteristics of depression and its prevalence in the general population. Do not
write at length about BPS factors. This step is the part of academic writing where you make sure
the reader understands important concepts for your essay, early on.
Case Description
This is the section in which you give the reader all the information about your case (the
scenario provided in the assignment instructions about Jonah): Include demographic and social
locating /identifying facts (i.e., age, racial minority/majority, marital status, current occupation,
living situation), the major issue the client is presenting for counselling, the client’s situation in
life and participation in various cultures (e.g., ethnicity, linguistic, rural/urban, generation,
religion, and other relevant cultures.
You need to also include some basic information about the history of this or similar
problem in the client’s life (i.e., previous episodes of depression, or diagnosis of General Anxiety
Disorder (GAD), as well as the key symptoms and their impact on the client’s life. This is just an
example; you may have chosen a different issue to present.
CRSJ & BPS Approach to Counselling
Identify, describe, and analyze the Culturally Responsive and Socially Just (CRSJ) and
the Biopsychosocial (BPS) consideration for the client in the case scenario. This section will
show your understanding of how the different factors impact one another, or interrelate, or
integrate, with one another and your client Jonah. For example, if your client is struggling with
ADHD there may be biological factors, psychological factors, social factors, and cultural factors,

show how these factors interrelate with one another and the importance of understanding this
approach within therapy.
Counsellor Role in Therapeutic Relationship
Counsellor’s Professional Role
Describe the counsellor’s professional role in building a therapeutic relationship with
Jonah, as you consider the biopsychosocial and cultural factors of the scenario. What would you
need to be aware of from a therapeutic and personal position in your role as a counsellor. Support
your writings with intext citations using course materials and scholarly reference sources.
Ethical Considerations
Briefly explore ethical considerations as the counsellor that you would consider when
providing counselling for your client Jonah in the case scenario relating specifically to the major
issue being presented. Make specific reference to ethical codes that were reviewed in Unit
7. Remember to cite the code # as well. Support your writings with in-text citations of scholarly
reference sources.
Case Conceptualization
Using Sperry and Sperry (2020, pp. 93-94) briefly develop the case conceptualization for
this scenario up to, not including treatment. Provide references for your outline and structure for
the case conceptualization. Be sure to provide credit for all terms and design of the case
conceptualization to the appropriate sources you have used. See the Case of Geri (Sperry &
Sperry, 2020 p. 93) for an example.
