Good morning to one and all. I am Mahadhee from 3-C. Today I am going to
explain about the setting of a story.
1. All great stories have a few things in common.
2. Certain elements are commonly found in most of the stories.
3. They are characters, plot, theme, setting and more.
4. Characters are the different persons or animals who are involved in the story.
5. The plot of a story deals with the sequencing of events involving the
characters explaining what happens next and why it happens.
6. The theme is the central idea or message that is conveyed to the reader of
the story.
7. The setting of a story tells the time, place and duration of the story.
8. The setting of a story can also be told using images as found in comic books.
9. When we talk about time in the setting of a story it does not mean what time
it is on the clock.
10. The time of the setting is in a broader sense, as in a time period in which the
story takes place, such as the past, present or future.
11. The place is where the story takes place, which can be real or fictional.
12. The duration is the time that passes from the beginning to the end, i.e.,
whether the story takes place over a timespan of few years or days or hours.
13. The feeling in the story, such as the climate or the overall mood can also be
defined by the setting of the story.
14. In overall, the setting of a story is important because it provides context for
the reader, and helps to create interest and pleasure.
Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity.
