How to connect your Ricoh
Multi-Functional Device (MFD)
directly to your PC using the
Ricoh Direct Print Creator tool
What is this tool about?
The Ricoh Direct Print Creator tool allows an end-user to create an extra printer queue on his /
her client that will connect the Ricoh OMS multi-functional device in his / her neighborhood
directly.
After running this tool on your client, a new print queue will be installed. Please be aware that
this queue does not provide end to end encryption nor will require PKI authentication as Secure
Print (OMS) is doing.
This queue will immediately send your print job to the MFD of your choice.
What print jobs am I allowed
to print with this tool?
As there is no encryption or authentication support, only documents classified up to
“Restricted” (C1) can be printed via this queue, all higher classified documents need to be
printed via OMS secure print
As an end-user, you are responsible to decide - based on the document’s classification,
whether you use OMS Secure Print or Direct Print
How to install this tool?
The tool is available for installation in the Siemens software basket under the name “Ricoh Direct Print
Creator”: you can find two versions, one for installing the new print queue with A4 as default format
(Ricoh Direct Print Creator A4), the second for Letter as default format (Ricoh Direct Print Creator
Letter).
As preparation upfront, you should know the name (FQDN) or the IP-address of the multi-functional
device. You can find this information on the display of the MFD (example: oric1224.ppmd.siemens.net
for FQDN or 139.215.12.67 for an IP-address).
Examples where to find FQDN or IP address on the device panels:

How to change default settings?
The new queue (for both A4 and Letter formats) will be created with Black & White and Duplex as
default settings (like the OMS Secure Print queue).
You can change every one of the default settings, including the format, accessing
the “Printing Preferences” from the installed print queue, and selecting the required settings.

What to do in case of installation problems?
If an error occurs during the installation of the print queue, Ricoh Direct Print creator
will show an error like this.
It means that the device name/IP address or network settings of your printer could
not be correct.
Please send a mail to gsit_oms_ppmd.be@siemens.com with the serial number of
the device included and this will be investigated.
