ABSTRACT
"Connecting through online dating feels much
more like meeting a virtual stranger and
having to establish points of meaningful
connection with little real-world experience to
go on," As per surveys, online dating is on the
rise. For most people, online dating appears to
be a practical way to date. Filipino young
adults are motivated to try online dating
because of the impact of other personal views,
and they view online dating as a convenient
way to learn about other people and broaden
their connections, not simply for romantic
relationships. One such topic of concern is
how online dating and mobile applications are
changing and affecting the dating culture of
young people who use them, as well as how
young people perceive these experiences. The
responses were collected to participate in the
survey from different departments at the Asian
College of Technology, and the majority of
them are currently using dating apps, with only
a few not. This aims to emphasize the students'
perspectives on why they engage dating apps
to find a relationship and how often they use
dating apps.

INTRODUCTION
As the technology became rampant in the
world many dating apps began to arise, social
media has grown in to play a significant role in
daily life. Online dating sites have made the
internet a tool for those on the hunt for a
romantic relationship (Whitty, 2009). Start by
introducing yourself and giving a brief
explanation of why you are reaching out, just
like you would in person. It uses in a
committed relationship are continually
dependent upon the quantity and caliber of
singles in the area. That is, communication
evolved in ways of courting. It has been
demonstrated that this proximity affordance
facilitates face-to-face interactions. However,
we discovered that these relationships are not
all the same as their offline counterparts, and
that these relationships can sometimes remain
online. The bond provided by online
chatrooms through a series of conversations
makes them feel less alone to the point where
romantic
relationships
may
blossom
(Clemente et al., 2015).
Modern courtship is characterized by its
easygoing atmosphere and minimal rules.
Back in the old days, courtship used to require
a lot of permission from parents, monitoring,
and a lot of restrictions (Hilado, 2014).
Dating apps are used by 74% of millennials
and Gen Zers. 40% of Gen Z daters claim that
despite the COVID-19 outbreak, they will still
use digital dating. Compared to earlier
generations, Gen Z has less casual encounters.
24% of Gen Zers engage in casual sexual
activity (Macwilliam, 2022). Filipino dating in
the modern day can be very confusing. Due to
the development of dating apps and a rise in the
acceptance of casual dating, the dating
environment has undoubtedly changed in
recent years (Christie, et al. 2019).
Online dating apps are a well-known phrase
nowadays, both nationally and internationally,
and have become the primary avenue for
finding relationships. The researchers, are
motivated by a curiosity to understand why
students prefer online dating over actual
dating. For those students who did not meet up
their perspective in using online dating apps,
reason out that not all online relationships can
lead to successful long-term relationships.
The researchers focus on the college students
transcribe who are swiping right on the person
they want to date. This aims to showcase the
students' view on why they are using the dating
app to hunt for a relationship and looking
frequency in dating apps. Therefore, it is
expected that the use of online dating has
altered how students engage with one another
and spend their time each day.
METHODS
This study utilizes a qualitative, narrative
research design. Specifically, this study
consisted of interview research made
transcribe: personally asking questions in oneon-one conversations among Asian College of
Technology students. Answering those
questions will serve to further explore youth
culture, intimacy and how the two intersect and
are affected by technology. The researchers
have discovered that although courtship are
usually done face to face, in today’s
generation, courtship can also occur via online
dating sites. The researcher was unable to
emphasize whether before engaging in online
dating, the participants engaged in serious,
personal, or face-to-face courtship. This study
addresses the perceptions of young adults who
use the online dating app.
RESULT
The respondents from different departments at
the Asian College of Technology for our
research, and the majority of them are currently
using dating apps, with only a few not. The
major reason for using dating apps is to make
friends online and meet new people with
mutual interests, but it is also a practical way
to find an exclusive partner. The majority of
respondents disagree that online dating leads to
longer-lasting relationships than meeting
people in person because the most important
factors aren't always conveyed through words
but sometimes through actions, which can help
you measure how interested other people are in
the conversation and provide you with insight
into how they may be feeling. As they have
said, the reason for swiping left is that they
have no interest at all, and the reason for
swiping right is that they were attracted to and
interested in that specific person. Also, they are
open to a relationship or friendship. All of
them answered yes to considering deleting the
dating app after a successful date because
they've seen and felt the sincerity and pure
intentions that are discussed freely and
honestly with their partner about their
considerable future plans together.
DISCUSSION
Researchers gathered some students at Asian
college of technology to know their
perceptions about the online dating apps used
today in modern dating. The responses to the
problem are gathered through dialogue and
encoded using In Vivo coding. After that, they
are coded line by line, which is process coding.
The discussion on our results that we
conducted, and we, as researchers, discovered
that the majority of students used dating apps
to find relationships or friendships online, but
they said that it really doesn't give them the
long-term that they always expect because
meeting in person gives them the whole
picture. People's intentions and actual feelings
can be read in ways that are simply not possible
online.

CONCLUSION
This research aims to show the students'
perspectives on why they use dating apps to
find a relationship and how frequently they use
dating apps. As an outcome, it is projected that
the use of online dating has changed how
students interact with one another and spend
their time each day. Students who did not
fulfill their expectations when using online
dating applications should keep in mind that
not all online relationships lead to successful
long-term relationships. Many people want to
feel like they're doing something nice for
others and making the world a better place.
One of the most significant advantages of
online dating is that you may get to know
someone better before meeting them in person,
which can lead to a meaningful connection.
