CPE 107- REVIEWER (UNIT 1)
what is ed. tech.?
is a systematic application of technology in the field of education.
a branch study that utilizes the results of engineering techniques, information
science, natural science, behavioral science, and human technology to promote
the efficiency of education.
3 meanings if ed tech
edtech 1 - application of physical science and engineering technology to
provide mechanical or electro-mechanical tools or hardware.
edtech 2 - application of scientific principles to instruction. psychological
principles of learning are stressed.
edtech 3 - integration of hardware (engineering) and the use of psychological
principles (cognitive processes) through the application of a system approach
to education.
5M in edtech
men, media, methods, machine, material
nature of edtech
it lays stress on the development of methods and techniques for effective
teaching- learning
designing of measuring instruments for testing learning outcomes.
it involves input, process, and output aspect of education.
not to be taken as synonym to audio-visual aids in education.
scope of edtech
aims to study the phases of teaching, skills of teaching and learning, principles
of teaching, and other related aspects.
as a discipline it strives for the formulation of objectives and goals of education
based on individual and social needs.
development of the course content, curriculum, the development of teaching
learning materials, etc.
training for teachers, development of sustainable strategies and techniques of
teaching.
selection and use of appropriate audio-visual aids for making the teachinglearning process more meaningful and realistic.
characteristic of edtech
learner- centered (focuses on the needs, abilities, and learning styles of
individual learners). (Supports personalized and adaptive learning)
systematic and structured (involves a planned and organized approach to
designing, delivering, and evaluating learning experiences)
interactive and engaging (encourages active learning through multimedia,
simulations, and interactive content) (increases student motivation and
engagement)
supports collaboration and communication (enhances collaboration among
students and teachers through tools like discussion forums, video conferencing,
and shared documents) (promotes peer learning and teamwork.
ROLES OF ICT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING
3 DOMAINS OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
1. technology as a tutor - together with the teacher, technology can support the
teacher to teach another person or when technology programmed by the
teacher, can be a tutor on its own.
2. technology as teaching tool - technology is a teaching tool but can never be
replace a teacher.
3. teacher as a learning tool - while the teacher - utilizes technology as the tool
for teaching, likewise it is an effective tool for learning.
ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY
(For teachers and teaching)
provides support to the teacher as the facilitator of learning.
has modernized the teaching-learning environment.
adds to the competence of teachers and inculcates scientific scientific outlook.
(For learners and learning)
support learners to learn how to learn on their own.
technology enhances learners’ communication skills through social interaction.
(one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many)
technology upgrades learners’ HOTS; critical thinking, problem solving and
creativity.
3 CATEGORIES OF KNOWLEDGE
1. declarative knowledge - consists of discreet pieces of information that answers
the questions, who, when, what, and where.
2. structural knowledge - consists of facts of declarative knowledge put together
to attain some form of meaning
3. procedural knowledge - is knowledge in action or the knowledge of how to do
something.
social interaction occurs in two ways where the participants ask for clarification,
argue, challenge each other and work towards common understanding.
Communication occurs (THROUGH, AROUND, WITH SUPPORT TO) technology
WAYS THAT TEACHERS CAN DEVELOP CRITICAL THINKING
(ask the right questions)
clarity - can you give examples of.....
accuracy - what pieces of evidence support your claim?
precision - exactly how much
breadth - what do you think will the other group say about the issue?
teachers should be mindful of the readiness of the students. these can be
determined by interview, observations, and other forms.
CREATIVITY - flexible, original, fluent, elaborate
SCAMPER- SUBSTITUTE, COMBINE, ADAPT, MODIFY, MINIFY, MAGNIFY, PUT TO
ANOTHER USE, ELIMINATE, REVERSE

CONCEPT OF ICT POLICIES
to address the individual needs of students, the implications of technology for
student assessment, and teacher learning to successfully implement technology.
(voogt, 2013)
the provision of ict to academic staff and students is critical to recommend
them to more effective learning environments. by overcoming the needs and
reinforcing the functional aspect. the ability of policymakers to innovate on
related policy issues outperform technological innovations because it changes
and evolves.
lack of rigorous and significant evidence complicates the attempts to outline
impactful ICT or education policies.
KEY THEMES OF ICT
1. vision and planning- linking ict or education policies to other policies
2. infrastructure- ensuring adequate power. providing sufficient equipment and
networking infrastructure.
3. teachers- providing ict- related training (technical and pedagogical) for
teacher. identifying a set of related teacher competency standards. building
awareness among and support for school administrators as a support for school
administrator, as a support for ict use by teachers and learners.
4. skills and competencies- identifying ict or digital competency standards and
offering related training
5. articulating and supporting ict-enabled lifelong learning opportunities
6. learning resources- supporting the development, dissemination and utilization
of digital learning resources
7. education management information system- supporting the collection,
processing, analysis and dissemination of education-related data relevant
stakeholders
8. equity, inclusion and safety
NATIONAL POLICIES
1. (RA 10175) cybercrime prevention act of 2012- to prevent cybersex, online child
pornography, identity theft and spamming but it also makes libel a cybercrime
punishable up to 12 years in jail.
2. (RA 10173) data privacy act of 2021- protects unauthorized processing of
personal information that private, not publicly available, and 2 identifiable,
where the identity of the individual is apparent either through direct attribution
or when put together with other available information
3. (RA11313) safe spaces act- to address existing gaps and issues on equality,
security, and safety for both women and men in private and public space.
4. ecommerce act of the philippines- providing for the recognition and use of
electronic commercial and documents and non-commercial transactions and
documents, penalties for unlawful use thereof.
5. executive order no. 810 s.2009 - institutionalizing the certificate scheme for
digital signatures and directing the application of digital signatures in
egovernment services.
