Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (STRM) DTED – In mountainous regions, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) may provide extreme negative values in its calculation of DTED elevation. These negative values result in a known NASA WorldWind error. To correct for extreme negative elevation data, NGA created SRTM1F and SRTM2F DTED which overwrites the negative values with the elevation of neighboring data points. The extrapolated values are not identified in SRTM1F and SRTM2F DTED; therefore, SPEED cannot distinguish or indicate that they are not actual measured values. SPEED handles the error by zeroing negative value data points and reporting them as zero feet Mean Sea Level (MSL). b. Saving Map products to Public Folders – Map products imported from a user’s personal folder or desktop will not be available for analysis within SPEED. Workaround: In order for SPEED to have access to and process map and elevation products, the data must be placed in a public folder. (e.g. c:/users/public/documents/map_data) c. Map and DTED Storage Location – When SPEED imports map and DTED data, the host computer records the local directory structure path. If a run is exported and then is reanalyzed on another host computer, the DTED storage location may be dissimilar from the original host and the resulting analysis may be different. Workaround: In order for all SPEED host computers to have access to and process map and elevation products, a standardized directory pathing structure / doctrine should be promulgated for fleet users. (e.g. c:/users/public/documents/map_data) d. DTED Folder – When importing DTED, users must create a DTED specific folder name that consists of the NGA DTED number and edition. e. Digital Mean Elevation Data (DMED) Folder – Downloaded DTED products may not include an associated DMED directory or folder. SPEED identifies a DMED product by the existence of this folder. Without a folder named “DMED”, the elevation data will not be imported/used by SPEED. Workaround: The user must manually create a folder named “DMED” within the associated DTED folder. For information on DTED download procedures, refer to the SPEED Help File. 5.2 Quality of Service (QoS) Calculations, Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) a. SPEED allows for the input of binary Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) modulation information. While the user can input NRZ data, it is for informational purposes only and is NOT used for any QoS calculation. 5.3 Manage Locations a. When deleting entries in the Manage Locations dialog, attempting to mass delete locations may result in removing the wrong record. 8 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- Workaround: When deleting entries in the Manage Locations dialog, the user must select and delete records individually. b. After modifying, adding or importing locations database information, failing to click OK in the Manage Locations database dialog will result in the loss of all desired changes. Workaround: After modifying, adding or importing locations database information, the user clicks OK in the Add/Modify Locations dialog and then must click OK in the Manage Locations database dialog in order to apply the action. c. When exporting multiple locations within the Manage Locations dialog, the checkboxes only indicate favorite locations and will not select location(s) for export. Workaround: To export multiple locations within the Manage Locations dialog, users must use the CTRL or SHIFT keys and highlight the row for the desired location(s). 5.4 Satellite Database and Ephemeris Data Updates a. Failing to update the satellites and ephemeris data prior to using SPEED’s satellite capabilities may result in inaccurate analyses. Workaround: Users must update the satellites and ephemeris data prior to using SPEED’s satellite capabilities. Contact the SPEED Help Desk for updates. Refer to Importing Satellite Data in the SPEED Help File. 5.5 SPEED Run System Settings a. Changes made to system properties within the Put Systems dialog will be saved and applied even if the Cancel button is selected. Workaround: Prior to making changes to equipment properties for the current SPEED run, verify and note the current configuration so that any changes made to SPEED equipment can be reverted. 5.6 Copy Systems Dialog a. If the Object Information dialog is docked and the user tries to place a copied system on the map, the crosshairs will change to a pointer. Workaround: Regardless of the appearance of the pointer, clicking on the map at the desired location will place the copied system. 5.7 Windows Custom Dots Per-Inch (DPI) Settings a. Microsoft Windows allows the operator to set a custom DPI scale (100%, 125%, 200%...). Modifying the Default 100% DPI setting (ZOOM Level) may result in mis-rendered SPEED Windows. Workaround: SPEED should be used with 100% DPI scaling. Users can change the DPI scale in the host systems Control Panel. 5.8 Personnel Roster within Asset Manager a. Personal Identification Information (PII) has been removed from SPEED. This includes Blood Type, Religion, Birthdate, sex, kill number, Crew Served Weapon (CSW), CSW Serial Number, HS Timing, Parent Spouse and marital status, SAPI, etc. 9 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- Workaround: Personnel rosters exported from older SPEED versions will still import into SPEED v12.0.1.2 However, all PII information will be deleted and the EDIPI (SSN) number will be replaced with 0000 upon the restart of SPEED. 5.9 Invalid Calculations a. TRC Reliability and Multipath spread calculations display zeroes for AN/TRC-170(V) 2, 3, and 5 radios. User messages will display “No directional data for antenna”. 5.10 Shape and Polygon Creation a. When the user adds a circle to the map and does not complete the drawing, then adds a polygon to the map and does not complete the drawing, and then selects the Rectangle (or another shape) tool, the polygon does not get a graphic handle created. This creates un-selectable and un-editable shapes on the map. Workaround: Ensure each shape added to the map is completed by right-clicking on the map before the next shape tool is selected. 5.11 Unresponsive Map Issues a. If gridlines are on and the user zooms into the map at one of the poles, the map becomes unresponsive. Workaround: When gridlines are turned on, avoid zooming into the poles. 5.12 EPLRS Analysis Issue a. When properties of radios involved in an EPLRS analysis are changed, the analysis results do not automatically update. Workaround: Reanalyze the EPLRS net after changing radio properties that may affect results. 10 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- 6.0 SPEED SOFTWARE ENHANCEMENTS N/A 11 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- 7.0 OBSOLETE FEATURES REMOVED N/A 12 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- This page is intentionally left blank 13 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- APPENDIX A ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS Table A-1 SPEED Abbreviations / Acronyms Abbreviation / Acronym Definition AM Asset Manager CSW Crew Served Weapon COMM Communications COTM Comm-On-The-Move (or Communications-On-The-Move) DMED Digital Mean Elevation Data DoD Department of Defense DPI Dots Per-Inch DSN Defense Switched Network DTED Digital Terrain Elevation Data DVD Digital Versatile Disk DVD-ROM Digital Versatile Disk – Read Only Memory EDIPI Electronic Data Interchange Personal Identifier EW Electronic Warfare EXCOMM Expeditionary Communications FSM Force Structure Manager GB Gigabytes GPS Global Positioning System HDD Hard Disk Drive HF High Frequency A-1 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- Abbreviation / Acronym Definition HFCP High Frequency Communications Planner HTTPS Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure INSTALL Installation KML Keyhole Markup Language LMR Land Mobile Radio MCEITS Marine Corps Enterprise Information Technology Services MCSRC Marine Corps Software Resource Center MCTSSA Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity MOS Military Occupational Specialty MSL Mean Sea Level NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration NGA National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency NIPR Non-classified Internet Protocol (IP) Router NIPRNET Non-classified Internet Protocol (IP) Router Network NRZ Non-Return-to-Zero NSWC Naval Surface Warfare Center PDF Portable Document Format PII Personal Identification Information PM CS Program Manager Communication Systems POC Point of Contact PTP Point-to-Point A-2 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- Abbreviation / Acronym Definition QoS Quality of Service RAM Random Access Memory RCA Radio Coverage Analysis RF Radio Frequency RGC Radio Guard Chart SAPI Small Arms Protective Insert SAR Satellite Access Request SATPLAN Satellite Planner SFAF Standard Frequency Action Format SIPR Secret Internet Protocol Router SIPRNET Secret Internet Protocol Router Network SM Spectrum Management SPEED Systems Planning, Engineering & Evaluation Device SPP SPEED Path Profiler SQL Structured Query Language SRTM Shuttle Radar Topography Mission SSN Social Security Number SVDD Software Version Description Document SHF Super High Frequency TRC Tactical Radio Communication UHF Ultra High Frequency A-3 CUI CUI SPEED-12.0.1.2-RELEASE-NOTES-0001-REV- Abbreviation / Acronym Definition U.S. United States U.S.C United States Code USMC United States Marine Corps VHF Very High Frequency WiMAX Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, Inc.
