The Liar Shepherd
Once there was a young shepherd boy. He used to take his sheep to a hill near the village every
day.
His job was to watch the sheep and keep them safe from wolves.
But the boy was very bored. One day, he thought of a naughty plan. He ran to the village and
shouted,
"Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is eating my sheep!"
The villagers heard his cry and ran up the hill with sticks to help him. But when they reached, they
saw no wolf.
The boy laughed and said, "Ha ha! I was just joking!"
The villagers were angry. They told him not to lie and went back to their work.
A few days later, the boy did the same thing again. "Wolf! Wolf!" he cried.
The villagers believed him again and rushed to help, but once more, there was no wolf. The boy
laughed at them again.
Now the villagers were very upset. They said, "If you lie again, we will not come next time."
Then one day, a real wolf came. It began to attack the sheep. The boy was very afraid.
He shouted loudly, "Wolf! Wolf! Please help me!"
But this time, no one came. The villagers thought he was lying again.
The wolf killed many sheep, and the boy cried sadly.
Moral of the Story: No one believes a liar, even when he tells the truth.
