"" Refers to other chapters or sections. '' Text in apostrophes relates to equipment/mounting parts which are included in the delivery package. Text Texts in small capitals designate pushbuttons/switches on a control or switches that are to be actuated in the software. 1. Numbered procedural instructions describe activities which must be carried out in the specified order. 2. n. 1.3 1.3 Basic information The basic function of the Recycling Module, Generation Four Vertical (RM4V) is to deliver media (bank notes and other valuable documents) to the consumer that is easy to grasp and remove with one hand single motion. The Lower Unit (Section 3.3) deposits media into cassettes and dispenses media to the consumer after the network or controller processes a consumer's request. During the deposit cycle the system denominates, validates, counts and stores the media in the recycle cassettes. The media is drawn from the cassettes and transported to the system's withdrawal area. If the media is too mutilated or crumpled to dispense, or if a multiple pick occurs, the RM4V sends the media to the AllIn cassette. Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 1-1 Introduction 1.4 1.4 Theory of Operation Refer to Figure: Currency Path for the theory of operation. At the beginning of a dispense transaction, the transport starts to run. The stack of notes in the cassette is lifted to the picker. If the cassette is low, the magnet in the push plate moves past the supply low sensor on the wiring harness. This type of movement is similar for each channel. The stack empty sensor sees that there is at least one remaining note. The thumper sensor can see that the push plate is up. The stack rises to the picker into the spring-loaded thumper roller which blocks the thumper sensor. The feed lock solenoid in the secure cassette (convenience cassette does not have a solenoid) unlocks the feed wheel lock and runs the feed wheel one rotation. As the feed wheel and thumper rollers move in the same direction, they strip a note from the stripper wheels. As the note exits the cassette, it starts to block the cassette exit sensor in the horizontal transport. Each channel contains its own exit/entry sensor. Channels 1 through 4 also contain dedicated gate sensors in the paper path. The chest horizontal transport then counts the number of notes to pick. The notes travel along the chest horizontal transport. At the beginning of a deposit transaction, the cassettes are prepared for note stacking by moving the push plate down the proper distance needed to allow for notes to enter the cassette. This distance is based on both the stack guide and stack empty sensors becoming clear during the push plate movement. Once the cassettes are prepared for stacking, the transport the feed wheel start to run continuously in the accept note direction. As the notes are moved along the transport, they are tracked by monitoring the exit/entry sensors of each channel and routed to the intended cassette by switching the proper gate solenoid, allowing the note to be transported into the cassette. As notes are stacked in the cassette, the push plate is adjusted downward to allow for the proper stacking space to be maintained. At the conclusion of the transaction, the transport and feed wheel are stopped, and the push plate is moved up until the stack guide sensor is blocked. 1-2 Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 2 2 Safety 2.1 2.1 Section-specific warning notes DANGER This warning note describes a hazard with a high degree of risk which, if not avoided, will result in death or grave bodily injury. Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 4-13 Operation 4.2 4.2 Cassette handling 4.2.1 4.2.1 Preparing banknotes Check the banknotes for damage before you put them into a cassette. Sort out any damaged bank notes and remove staples, needles or other foreign objects. Banknotes that have been torn, taped, dog-eared, creased, stapled or clipped may not be used. Remove any bank wrappers made of paper, plastic or rubber before inserting the banknotes. If you use new banknotes, you must separate the banknotes at the cut edges. Carefully fan the banknote bundles and bend them several times in various directions. 4-14 Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A Operation General refill notes When inserting the banknotes into the cassette always start at the dispensing side. Always place the following bundle on the banknotes already inserted (arrow 1). Make sure the silver strips or other raised embossing of the individual bundles point alternately to the left and to the right. New and used banknotes If you use new and used banknote bundles in one cassette, always insert the bundles with the used banknotes into the cassette first. Then insert the bundles with the new banknotes after you have separated them at the cut edges (see section "Editing banknotes"). NOTE To prevent a note jam no banknotes should be inserted in the banknote dispensing area or in the middle of the stack, as this could result in individual banknotes sliding under the stack. Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 4-15 Operation If banknotes are to be refilled, the notes being inserted must always be located between the pressure carriage and inserted stack. Deformed banknote bundles Insert banknote bundles which were deformed by packaging (bands with paper, plastic or elastic bands) as follows: Split the bundles and turn the first half of the bundle so that the bulging side is pointing towards the pressure carriage. Insert the two bundle halves into the cassette as shown in the illustration (1). Please do not use any extremely deformed banknotes. Always insert banknote bundles which have been bent horizontally by their packaging in such a way that the bulging side of the bundle is pointing towards the pressure carriage. Remove the banknote bundles from the packaging, fan the banknotes and put them into the cassette as shown in the picture (1). 4-16 Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A Operation The banknotes are now positioned in the cassette as shown in Figure (1). 1 Stroke across the banknotes towards the pressure carriage as shown in Figure (2). 2 Special comments for deformed banknotes Possible deformation of banknotes Type A: Type B: Type C: Bulge near the hologram S-shaped bulge Wavy-shaped bulge Type A: Turn the bundle so that the deformed corner of the banknote is pointing towards the cassette end from which the banknotes are dispensed and not to the pressure carriage. If no other banknote bundles are available, the entire bundle needs to be formed to a U shape as to be fit for use. Insert these bundles so that the deformed corners are pointing towards the cassette end from which the banknotes are dispensed and not towards the pressure carriage. Type C: If the bundle has a wavy shape as a result of being tied, turn it so that the deformed corners are pointing towards the end from which the banknotes are dispensed and not towards the pressure carriage. The following illustration shows in which order deformed banknotes have to be inserted. Note that the deformed corners of the banknotes must always point to the side from which the notes are dispensed. The bulging side always has to point to the pressure carriage/cassette handle side. 4-18 Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A Operation Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 4-19 Operation 4.2.2 4.2.2 RM4V Recycling Cassette 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.1 Opening/Closing the Recycling Cassette Opening Turn the cassette lever (1). 2. The term currency is used to refer to any type of dispensable media. NOTE Although the Recycling Module is capable of handling a wide range of media, optimum performance is related to media quality. Poor condition media will work, however care must be taken to avoid folds, tears, holes and tape. Avoid using media with the following characteristics (Figure 2-1): • Media joined by any means • Media with staples or pins • Media with sticky or adhesive substances • Media repaired with tape • Media with tears exceeding 13 mm (0.5 inch) • Media with holes or missing sections • Media that is excessively crumpled or crinkled • Media with a folded corner exceeding 13 mm (0.5 inch) • Media that is bowed more than 3 mm (0.12 inch) in any direction • Media that is deformed by prolonged storage • Media that is extremely limp • Media that is wet or extremely damp Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A 5-1 Troubleshooting Figure 5-1: RM4V-unacceptable media 1 Folded corners 6 Pin 2 Tape repair 7 Bow, 3mm (0.12 inch) 3 Hole 8 Limp note 4 Staple 9 Crumpled note 5 Tear, exceeding 13mm (0.12 inch) 5-2 Copyright 2018 Diebold Nixdorf 01750308109 A Troubleshooting 5.3 5.3 Note jam troubleshooting 5.3.1 5.3.1 Safety precaution NOTE Never pull out the head unit or the safe unit during operation, as this will immediately stop the transport motors and possibly result in a note jam. All components in the RM4 module are monitored by sensors. The system cannot be operated if a component has not been inserted or closed correctly. NOTE Integrated safety switches turn off the head unit’s or safe unit’s drives as soon as the unit concerned is pulled out of the device. This ensures that no rotating parts can be touched during the working steps described below. All subassemblies of the head and safe unit have to be completely closed. If this is not the case, an alarm sound can be heard during inserting, if this function was activated in the application. 5.3.2 5.3.2 Notes on operating the head unit Some of the working steps involved in operating the head unit can only be performed in a specified sequence. When one working step is dependent on another, this fact is pointed out in the description of the individual working steps.
