GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the fundamental components and principles of fitness, including competency in motor
skills, movement patterns, and strategies needed to perform a variety of physical activities. Students will work
towards achieving a level of physical fitness for health and performance while demonstrating knowledge of
fitness concepts, principles, and strategies.
SPECIFIC COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is also intended to introduce the students to the method of procedure for teaching fitness,
nutritional health and general wellness principles. Students will complete as assessment measuring aerobics
fitness, strength, flexibility and nutrition. Rules, skills and strategies of various activities.
MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES AND OUTCOMES
On completion of the subject, the student is expected to be able to do the following:

barrier to physical activity assessment
participation and one’s diet.
Sets frequency intensity time type goals
based on training principles to achieve
and/or maintain health-related fitness
Engage in moderate to vigorous physical
activities for at least 60 minutes most days
of the week in a variety of settings in and
out of school
Analyses physiological indicators such as
heart rate, rate of perceived exertion and
pacing associated with MVPAs to monitor
and /or adjust participation effort.
Observe personal safety protocol to avoid
dehydration overexertion, hypo - and
hypothermia during MVPA participation
Demonstrate proper etiquette and safety in
the use of facilities and equipment
Participates in an organized event for a
target health issue and concern
Describe the role of physical activity
assessment in managing one’s stress
