Reflection Paper (1st Symposium)
How to Take Care of One’s Mental Health amid Covid-19 pandemic;
“Towards a Flourishing Well-being”
“It’s okay not to be okay, but it is not okay when you stay that way.”
This was the very thing that I remember stated by our guest speaker in the symposium, it conveys a
profound meaningful message. Discussing about taking care of one’s mental health is a very serious
topic, relevant to a student like me that wasn’t able to experience face to face classes for our first year
in college. A lot of change happened, as the pandemic rises up the chaos of the world, I am one of those
severely affected in a sense that I felt lost in a moment stuck in a four corners of the house. In those
unprecedented times, it was seemingly impossible to stay in the way that we used to have, we used to
take. But there’s a silver lining in that circumstances, a lot of people including me has to Wake in a
society that cares about a person’s mental state realizing the essence of mental health awareness. The
symposium is very essential and helpful, it was also fun to listen in the teaching of the speaker. It was
not boring but a very creative and alive discussion that really thoroughly adhere by the guest speaker. It
was quite informative as well and a lot of realization just drawn my mind that our mental health really
matters.
A huge round of applause to Dr. Argel Masanda, Ph.D, RGC, RPm who was the speaker in that said
symposium who really voice out the things we need to learn finding purpose to heal, have better
functioning and how to live with declaration of positivity. The characteristics of good mental health as
per part of assessing the values in connection with reality perception physically, emotionally,
economically and ultimately in our mental health state. I have so many takeaways from that certain
program, I admire people who fought and still standing strong battling with such problems. It was just a
phase of life but experiencing those suffering mentally, suppressed emotion should be expressed.
Unconfessed sin shall be confessed to lift up the burden in heart and win over the demons drowning in a
mind of someone.
Take time to heal. Be good first and surround yourself to good influence people. Evaluate yourself. Its
okay to feel sad but to drown into sadness is not. Self-seeking behavior must be high, help yourself. Take
courage with faith towards a flourished life, with a smile to get by.
