The SHS Curriculum, as part of the K to 12 Program,
aims to produce graduates who have the following:

⚬ prepared for the future, be it in pursuit of
higher education or acquisition of middlelevel skills, or geared towards employment

Readiness to focus on the development of soft skills
Proposed Course Description: This course is designed to equip aspiring
Academic and Technical Professionals with the essential soft skills and
workplace competencies necessary for success in today's dynamic industry.
Through interactive discussions, real-world case studies, and practical
exercises, the SHS learner will have a solid understanding of professional
ethics, effective communication strategies, teamwork principles, and
personal development techniques.

Offering of leveling (General and Advanced)
in English, Science, and Mathematics
Only for schools that are able to meet minimum qualifications
In English, Mathematics, and Science, learners will be offered two options:
General and Advanced, with subjects given appropriate names (Advanced
English, General Math, etc.)
Rationale
• Offering subjects at different levels is a practical way to
cater for different learner abilities, needs and aspirations.
• Many high-performing systems (including Singapore,
Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Finland, and British
Columbia) offer subjects at different levels.
Implications for schools that will opt to offer
two levels for English, Science, and Math
• English, Science, and Math will have at least two sections
each (at least one for General, and one for Advanced).
• The school will determine how students will be categorized.
• Teachers and resources have to be available for both
sections.
• For SY 2025-2026, this feature will be implemented by pilot
schools that will meet the minimum qualifications only.
While the guidelines for these minimum qualifications are
still being prepared, the general idea is that only schools
with sufficient teachers, classrooms, and resources
should offer the two levels.
