CHAPTER ONE
Africa has always been known for its mineral rich soils .The
east African rift valley expands from Central African Republic
down to Zambia and its mineral seams which were unveiled by
volcanic activity many years ago have been ever gifting African
countries with its fruits for centuries ,but as always African
resources are squandered by the clever ones , the greedy , the
elite, the foreign companies .
Although Zimbabwe is not part of the rift valley, it was once as
wealthy as Botswana in terms of diamonds but due to
overexploitation of mineral in an unfair manner they vanished
into thin air . from the time of discovery of diamond in
Zimbabwe there was continuous competition to exploit the
diamonds between the government ,politician but not forgetting
the clever ones which are the SHURUGWIZ. The name
originated from the illegal miners who were illegally mining
gold in the Shurugwi area in Zimbabwe. During the time of
discovery of diamonds these miners came in large numbers to
the Shurugwi area .the Zimbabwean government warned
illegal miners to back off to avoid terrible consequences but
they still opposed since that’s the whole point of being illegal.As
a result of this there has been friction between the shurugwiz
who are a group of poor Zimbabwean miners often armed and
the Zimbabwean army which was placed by the government to
guard the nations wealth.
In the early 90s when diamond was discovered there were five
men : shekinah ,Takunda,leeroy ,kuda and dombo.These 5 had
their code names they used for their shady job to avoid being
identified by the authorities.
