Nowadays, a majority of students like to have part-time jobs while continuing studies at
school or college. Though some say it can divert students' attention from studies, there are
several significant advantages that make part-time jobs a great idea for
students.(Introduction,C)
To begin with, part-time jobs give students a chance to earn some money. Students need
extra cash to cover their living, transportation, or even pay fees. Having a job gives them the
possibility of becoming independent financially and reduces the financial burden on their
families. For example, a student who works in a local café can utilize the funds earned to
purchase school books and supplies.(First para,Chris)
Second, students acquire practical experience by working part-time. Part-time jobs provide
on-the-job training and expertise that one cannot obtain in the classroom. For example,
employment in retail or the hospitality sector translates essential communication, teamwork,
and time management expertise. This type of experience can be a valuable entry in their
curriculum vitae and enhance future employability.(Second para, Chris)
Lastly, a part-time working experience can be used to develop confidence among students.
Having responsibilities in a working setup makes an individual independent and confidence
grower. Students become aware of how to solve issues, meet deadlines, and communicate
with various individuals. Nonetheless, it is equally crucial to realize that certain jobs may
cause extra stress or decrease confidence levels among students if they lack guidance or
support. Selecting an appropriate job is significant to ensuring a positive experience.(Third
para, Chris)
In conclusion, part-time job experiences offer students numerous advantages, including
financial benefits, the acquisition of first-hand experience, and the development of
confidence. When properly coordinated, such experiences can translate into personal
development and future professional success without disrupting their own
studies.(Conclusion, Chris)

Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to your advertisement in the international college magazine
regarding your volunteer programme for teaching English to children in remote villages.
I have prior experience tutoring young learners in English and have taken part in various
community service projects involving children. Thus, I believe myself as a strong candidate
for this role because I have excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for
education.Plus, My studies in language and intercultural communication have equipped me
well for this position.
I am particularly keen to this programme because it offers the opportunity to get insights into
different cultures while fulfilling my willingness to make a positive impact on children's life
intellectually. The one that appeals to me most is that this programme would be able to show
me clear visions of children from remote villages getting limited access to English. Thus, I
believe that this experience will be a new experience for me, turning my whole perspective
into whole new one.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide further clarification regarding the duration of
the programme, the specific locations of the schools, and whether accommodation and
meals are included as part of the offering.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I would be honoured to contribute
to your programme and support its goals. Please feel free to contact me if you need any
additional information.
Yours faithfully,
Richard and Jerry
Social media has become deeply embedded in nearly every aspect of young people’s lives
today. While it provides several advantages, such as the ability to share and access
information, it also brings challenges, particularly in terms of advertising influence. This
raises the question of whether social media has a more positive or negative impact on
teenagers’ lives.
To begin with, social media plays a significant role in young people’s daily lives, offering
various positive effects. Many teenagers are highly engaged with social media, using
platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to share updates about their routines, passions,
and experiences. This helps them feel more satisfied and connected, ultimately making them
more sociable and open to forming friendships with people from different countries.
On the other hand, social media can also have a significant downside, particularly in the
form of targeted advertising. Influencers often promote sponsored products, making it
difficult for young people to resist buying them. As a result, teenagers may overspend on
unnecessary or overpriced items.
In conclusion, while social media has certain negative aspects that should not be
overlooked, its benefits in terms of spreading information and fostering global connections
remain undeniable. It enables the rapid sharing of news and awareness on a scale
unmatched by traditional media like newspapers and radio.
