Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the lesson, you are expected to achieve the following:
1. Determine the various presentation media that are commonly
used;
2. Evaluate the effective strategies in preparing and using these
media when communicating;
3. Adopt awareness of audience and context in presenting.
USING TOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY
Multimedia is content that uses a
combination of different content forms such
as text, audio, images, animations, video, and
interactive content.
Multimedia contrasts with media that use
only rudimentary computer displays such as
text-only or traditional forms of printed or
hand-produced material.
Traditional Visual and Audio Media
Overhead Transparencies- Transparencies
are clear acetate pages displayed by an
overhead projector during a speech.
Flip Chart- a large pad of paper that rests
on an easel allowing the speaker to record.
Whiteboard/chalk board- these materials
can also help you achieve the same
outcome.
Traditional Visual and Audio Media
Document Camera- a projector device.
Video- an electronic medium for the
recording, copying, playback,
broadcasting, and
display of moving visual media.
Traditional Visual and Audio Media
Sound recordings- sounds, like visual
images can stimulate mental images
triggering the imagination and setting
the mood.
Handouts- are sheets of paper
containing relevant information that
some speakers use in conjunction with
other presentations media.
Computer Technology
Digital Slides- a presentation software
commonly using PowerPoint. It allows
computer
users to display information in
multimedia presentations.
Real-Time Web Access- use to
demonstrate how to do something
special on the web such
as researching ideas.
A multimedia presentation refers
to the “integration of animation,
audio, graphics, texts,and full
motion video through computer
hardware and software for
education,
entertainment
or
training”.
Types of Oral Presentations
Individual Presentation
This involves one person who shares
relevant information about one's research
or work. This type of presentation
culminates in an open forum that allows
the audience to ask the presenter certain
relevant question
2. Group Presentation
This involves at least three members
who take turns in sharing
relevantinformation on a single topic
that forms the group research. This
also leads to anopen forum or a Q & A
with the audience
3. Panel Presentation
This involves around three to six
members with a moderator; the
members,called panelists, present
different topics that are based on a
similar theme.Panelists do not
necessarily belong to the same
research team.
4. Workshop Presentation
This involves one or two members
who act as facilitators to
giveparticipants a chance to
experience how a specific skill,
technique, or concept canbe
employed; this is usually done with a
small group.
5. Poster Presentation
This manner of presentation employs
the use of a poster in showing one’s
work. The audience views the posters
on display while the presenters stand
next to them to respond to questions
or comments from the viewers.

Evaluating and Reflecting on the Presentation
1 How did I perform as a speaker? Did I fulfill the role effectively?
2 How did I communicate my message to my audience?
3 Did my presentation make any visible impact on them?
4 What should I continue to do effectively?
5 What should I improve on for next time?
