Intent
A doctor office is a great dramatic play theme. It allows children to play with real-life ideas and concepts and
aids various ways of development such as communication, empathy, and self-care. It also creates discussion
about hygiene, wellness and healthy habits.
This dramatic play helps in children learning and their development such as:
 ELECT: 3.3 Vocabulary: children get a chance to expand their vocabulary and after learning new words
and vocabulary they will be familiar with those words. in addition, children learn new vocabulary like
thermometer, checkup, medicine and heartbeat.
 Essential skills (Galinsky 2010): self-directed and encouraged learning: A child is playing a dramatic
play of or doctor. They choose to play doctor, nurse or patient or any character without any suggestion
or encouragement by an adult. They collect soft toys and align them up as patients, indicating that they
are already initiating some play and managing it on their own.

Toy syringe
White coats or worn-out button up tops
Face mask or gloves (imaginary or real)
Cotton balls and bandages
Paper and clip board (to chart patient)
Clean and empty medicine bottles
Play phone (to make a pretend call in case of emergency or to make appointment)
Posters of body parts and personal hygiene

I will prepare the Doctor’s Office dramatic play Center in an attractive, well- labels, and linked with children
own experiences with health care in real life, to ensure that they are approachable and willing to engage and
this setting helps to support children curiosity as well as motivates children to participate.

