The Power of H2O
Water is one of the vital ingredient that we need to keep our body healthy and balanced. “We
don’t need water, as long as we have food.” No, that is false, utterly false, to have a balanced and
healthy body, we need water. Without water, our body will function differently, we would feel thirsty,
experience fatigue, headaches, dizziness, dry skin, and also constipation. Constant dehydration has
even more serious consequences that could potentially lead to our death.
Our body is made up of roughly 60% water. This water is used for various ways, one is to
maintain our body temperature in a balanced state by making us sweat and also through respiration,
another is that this helps us digest our food properly and also helps aid our nutrient absorption.
Staying hydrated throughout the day is essential to make us healthy, by simply carrying a bottle of
water in your bag or by setting reminders to drink water enough during the day. Eating foods that also
have a high content of water such as cucumber, is very beneficial to our body. It is rich in antioxidant
that could protect our cells and it can reduce the risk of having chronic diseases such as diabetes,
stroke, heart disease, and arthritis. They say that you should drink eight glass of water a day, but we
can not exactly tell how much water we need in a day to keep us hydrated because of some various
factors such as engaging in more vigorous activities, climate, and even our diet. So, to be safe, just
listen to your body, if you feel like you need to drink water right now, then drink some water. Mind
you though, drinking too much water, has its own consequences, it could lead to hyponatremia, a
condition where your sodium level is low. If you have hyponatremia, you could experience symptoms
such as nausea, vomiting, confusion, fatigue, etc.
To wrap it all up, water has various beneficial attributes for our body to maintain in good and
balanced health. It is the key factor to keep us living in this world. The water, in the most simplest
word, could promote our overall health. Maintaining a proper hydration by ensuring we drink enough
water daily can alone fight for the betterment of our overall well-being.
