Argus-assessed 380cst HSFO crack spreads fell by over $1/bl to around $2.57/bl on 26 May, after ending the last trading session at a fresh record high of $3.76/bl. Market discussions and recent media reports about a continued unwinding of Opec+ production cuts through the summer have raised the prospect of increased availability of more medium to heavy crude grades being brought back into the market. These crude grades typically yield higher proportions of HSFO. Additionally, fresh talks between Iran and the US over the weekend have raised hopes of a potential nuclear agreement between the two countries.
