The Mystery of the Sky Tree
In the small village of Elmwood, 14-year-old Zara and her cousin Kwezi looked up at the huge
Sky Tree. It was a big baobab with branches that looked like steps to the sky. People said a secret
was hidden up there. Zara, brave and excited, pulled Kwezi’s sleeve. “Let’s find it!” she said.
Kwezi looked worried, holding his water bottle, not sure about the shaky climb.
Zara went first, her hands holding the rough tree. The tree made noises in the wind. Kwezi
followed, his heart beating fast when a branch moved under him. “You can do it!” Zara called.
They climbed up, with dust and leaves falling.
They stopped on a strong branch to rest, breathing hard. Below, the village looked small—
houses tiny, fields yellow in the sun. Zara saw a hole higher up. “The secret!” she said. They
climbed more, their legs tired, and found a little wooden box in the hole. Inside was an old map
showing secret paths.
Suddenly, a branch broke with a loud snap, and Kwezi stopped, scared. Zara held his arm to help
him. “We’re strong together,” she said. They climbed down slowly, holding the map, and
thought about their next big trip
