Rich Dad Poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad literally transformed my perception of money. I
believed that getting a good job was the sole means of becoming wealthy before I read it. This
book, nevertheless, enlightened me to different thoughts on money. It illustrates that traditional
wisdom regarding money is erroneous and presents superior methods of accumulating wealth.
Kiyosaki's great idea is that it is all about assets and liabilities. According to him, "An
asset puts money in your pocket. A liability takes money out" (Kiyosaki 56). Real wealth, then,
has
absolutely nothing to do with how much you earn, but with owning things that earn money for
you (such as rental properties or stocks).
He contrasts two fathers: his "Poor Dad" (who was a salaried employee but poor in money) and
his "Rich Dad" (who started companies and purchased assets). My family is the same as the
"Poor Dad" they always told me, "Get a good job and save money." But Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad"
taught me that having just a job is not safe.
A Big Change in My Thinking One quotation that remained in my mind is: "The poor work for
money.".

The rich have money working for them (Kiyosaki 55). I once believed the secret to being
successful was a well-paying job. But then this passage made me understand jobs alone won't
make you rich. For instance, my uncle had a good job but lost it during the pandemic and had no
savings. He's still poor. Kiyosaki discusses why you need assets. Now, I am learning to invest
small amounts in stocks rather than simply saving money. Why This Matters Today Kiyosaki's
concepts are really relevant now: For instance, in 2020, during the COVID crisis, many people
lost jobs and were unable to pay bills.
This aligns with Kiyosaki's warning "If you're dependent on a paycheck, you're not in control"
(Kiyosaki 102). Today, robots and apps are replacing jobs, and gig economy employment (like
Uber) is precarious. Kiyosaki's advice to learn about money, invest in assets enables people to
ride out these changes. My cousin initiated a part-time internet based business selling handmade
crafts, and she now has additional income without an employer.
Rich Dad Poor Dad changed my attitude towards money forever. It helped me
understand that a person should think in terms of assets, and not just a job, and keep learning
about money all the time. This is not a book on how to get rich, it's a book on freedom from
money. With the rapidly changing economy, Kiyosaki's advice is a map to my future.
