O Defintion of Hypertension:
Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a
medical condition characterized by consistently elevated
pressure in the arteries.
▪ It’s often referred to as a “ Silent Killer”, because it may
not cause noticeable symptoms until significant damage
occurred.
▪ Blood Pressure Readings
▪ measured in millimeters of mercury(mm Hg)
▪ Expressed as two numbers:
▪ Systolic pressure: Pressure during heartbeats.
▪ Diastolic pressure: Pressure during heart rest(b/n beats).

balance by filtering and reabsorbing sodium from the
urine.
