Features of owlet
 It is native to the dense forest of Central
India
 It has got unique plumage pattern that
provides excellent camouflage among the
trees
 Another interesting fact is its
vocalization- a series of haunting calls
that echo through the forest at dusk
often described as eerie yet beautiful
 They have large skull and beak.
 They are strongly diurnal.
Why it is endangered ?
 Habitat loss: It is threatened foremost by
deforestation. Fires destroy their habitats
and food sources. Forest Owl rely on dense
forests which are cleared for agriculture,
Urbanization and infrastructure projects.
This reduces their habitats and isolates the
populations making harder for them to find
food.
 Human Disturbance : Activities like road
construction disrupt feeding and breeding
habits.
 Climate Change : Shifts in weather patterns
impact the forests where they live. Droughts
and temperature shifts can affect the prey
availability and breeding.
