Introduction
This guide is your starting point for installation and setup :

It provides a checklist of security-and-handling related
questions to satisfy Common Criteria paper-trail
requirements.
It provides a visual list of items you should have received,
and some optional items that you might have received.
It provides the initial steps to install and connect your new
hardware.
It tells you how to find the main product documentation
with its instructions for installing the product software and
for configuring the system.
It provides some initial orientation and instructions if you
have purchased certain optional products .
It ends with some basic troubleshooting tips.
The main product documentation is in the form of multiple PDFformat documents on the Documentation CD – the Ptk-M
(Windows) and Ptk-J (Java) documents are in separate directories
on the CD.
CAUTION: If the voltage setting is set to 115 and the applied
voltage is 220, the PSE power supply WILL be damaged.
ALWAYS Double-check the switch setting prior to applying
power to the PSE.

SafeNet HSM products that are taken out of service should not be
discarded with ordinary waste. Follow the WEEE or other
directives that apply in your country.
These instructions apply to the internal/embedded ProtectServer
PSI-E HSM Adapter (first section, below) or the standalone
ProtectServer External PSe HSM appliance (later in this guide).

Here are basic hardware installation instructions and indication
where to go for software installation and configuration instructions.

Tamper
detect
If you have an external tamper switch or other tamperdetection device, connect its two-wire cable to the tamperdetect socket on the ProtectServer PSI-E.

Close the computer, reconnect any cables, and start the
computer. Refer to the installation guide and other
documentation, in PDF format on the document CD for
instructions on configuring the ProtectServer adapter,
installing, and using the desired toolkit components.

read the installation and toolkit documents.

To configure your PSe before placing it into service, you will need
to supply and connect a keyboard, mouse, and display monitor.
After the appliance is placed into service, the keyboard, mouse and
monitor can be disconnected.

Installing ProtectServer PSI-E
Here are basic hardware installation instructions (mounting in a
computer, connecting cables, etc.) and indication where to go for
software installation and configuration instructions.

Connect the supplied power cord between the ProtectServer
External and the mains power supply (90V-230V AC at 50-60Hz).

Connect a computer-display monitor, keyboard and mouse to the
PSe.

Using another computer, refer to the installation guide and other
documentation, in PDF format on the document CD for
instructions on configuring the ProtectServer External, installing,
and using the desired toolkit components.

On the cd, in the docs directory, use a PDF file viewer to read the
installation and toolkit documents.
