Aim: Investigate the effect of temperature on the rate of a reaction for
vinegar and sodium bicarbonate.

Method:
● Measure 20 mL of vinegar into two large test tubes.
● Place one of these test tubes into a beaker containing iced water,
ensuring that no water enters the test tube.
● Place the other test tube into a beaker containing hot water, again,
ensuring that no water gets into the test tube.
● Allow the test tubes to stand for at least 5 minutes so that the
vinegar temperature equilibrates to the beaker temperature.
● While waiting, weigh 2.0 g of sodium bicarbonate into two beakers
of the same size.
● Pour the warm vinegar into one beakers and the cold vinegar into
the other beaker at the same time.
● Note the time it takes for the reaction to reach completion.
● You may swirl the beakers but you should swirl both beakers
equally to ensure a fair test.
