(Cooking)
What is Process Speaking?
Process speaking means talking about how to do
something step-by-step.
We use it to explain how to cook, make something,
or complete a task.
How to Say It
1. Linking Words (To Show Steps)
Use these to talk about the order of actions:
First – the beginning step
Next – the second step
Then – the third or middle steps
After that – more steps
Example:
Finally – the last step
First, I wash the rice.
Then, I put it in the rice cooker.
Finally, I eat it!
How to Say It
2. Grammar Focus
Use the simple present tense for general
steps:
Example: “First, crack the eggs.”
Use imperative sentences (commands):
Example: “Add salt.” “Stir well.”

What Are Idioms?
Idioms are phrases that don’t mean
exactly what the words say.
They have special meanings in English.
1) Break a leg
Meaning: Good luck
Example:
“Your performance is tonight? Break a leg!”

2) Under the weather
Meaning: Feeling sick or unwell
Example:
“I’m not coming to school. I’m feeling under the weather.”

Meaning: Very easy
Example:
“The English test was a piece of cake.”
