The Impact of Technology Acceptance on Human Behavior
Literature Review
1. Volkan Özbek et al. (2014) conducted a research on 401 university students of Balıkesir
University of Turkey to investigate the relationships between the personality traits and
technology acceptance levels of university students who currently had or planned to buy a
smart phone and found that individual differences, in terms of personality traits, may
influence technology acceptance of smart phone users. Individuals with a high level of
agreeableness (who are assumed to be kind, considerate, likable, helpful, and cooperative)
had a higher propensity to perceive smart phone technology as more useful, while those
who had a higher level of neuroticism (who are assumed to be anxious, unconfident and
preservationist) perceived smart phone technology as less useful. Further, people with a
higher level of openness (who are assumed to be willing to try new and different things,
actively seek out new and varied experiences, and value change) perceived smart phone
technology as more easy to use.
2. Chen, K. et al. (2011) reviewed empirical studies on technology acceptance by older people
published between 2000 and June, 2010 to investigate the attitude of older people towards
technology. They found most older adults have positive attitudes towards technology. But
they don’t show great interest in adopting new technology and are less likely to use
technology compared to younger adults. They use technology primarily in the home and it
is related to domestic matters, especially use of the internet and mobile phone.
3. Mohammadi, S. et al. (2018) conducted study on 350 employees of various Iranian sports
organizations to see the application of the extended technology acceptance model in sports
organizations and found that attitude (AT), self-efficacy, perceived usefulness (PU),
perceived ease of use (PEOU), and user satisfaction have a meaningful effect on the
intention to use information technology. The highest effect was related to attitude (AT) and
lowest to the user satisfaction. When people have more positive attitude toward the use of
information technology, they will show beliefs or excitements, which makes it more viable
for them to perceive information technology positively and thereby mark up the intention
to use it.
4. Hardi Warsono et al. (2023) conducted a study on 182 people of Semarang, Central Java,
Indonesia to investigate digital governance by examining empirical evidence regarding the
application of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in public administration. They found
that perceived ease of use has a significant effect on perceived usefulness and attitude
toward use in the use of electronic services in public administration. Likewise, empirical
evidence showed a significant effect of perceived usefulness on attitude toward use and
behavioral intention. Furthermore, the findings found that attitude toward use had a
significant effect on behavioral intention, and then behavioral intention was empirically
proven to have an effect on actual use.
