It is the principle by which you attract into your life that which is in vibrational alignment with your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes. As quantum physics now proves, reality is comprised of wavelengths of energy that respond directly to your thoughts. Your world is not separate from you, what’s more it is malleable. Your heart and mind hold the key to its mastery. You are the creator of your life’s experience whether you are conscious of it or not. Taking responsibility for your life without judgment is both empowering and liberating. When you understand that you are source not subject of your world, you can change it. Further, when you understand that you are ever supported by an all-loving, intelligent universe, you can engage co-creation where synchronicities and serendipities abound, ‘hows’ are magically taken care of and events in your life seamlessly woven into a tapestry of dreams come true. The concept of reality creation is by no means new. The wisest of mystics, quantum physicists and expert manifestors alike all share an understanding of the nature of reality and how it is birthed from the inside out. The law of attraction is the power of like attracts like and the means by which we magnetically materialise that which we focus upon and are in energetic alignment with. To successfully utilise the law of attraction you need to become conscious of what’s going on inside. You need to be aware of the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes, both conscious and unconscious, that are creating the boundaries of your experience. You are a miraculous manifesting machine creating your Page 4 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss reality in every moment. The key is to become conscious of how you do so. For this, understanding the law of attraction and the bigger picture is essential. The law of attraction is an absolute. It does not discriminate, it simply is. This means it can work both for and against you. To attract what you want into your life you need to align our heart and mind to the outcome of your desire, the juicy positive thoughts and feelings which palpably resonate and act as a magnet to your goals. In my exploration of the law of attraction I’ve discovered some key insights, a ‘bigger picture’ that has helped me understand its nature and workings and engage it fully in my favour. Imagination Your Imagination is a gateway to the possible and a bridge to your unconscious mind. It is the boundless palate with which you craft your world and an integral key to manifesting your desires. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. When visualising your desire, engage your imagination by activating all of your senses. Imagine not just the visual images, but the sounds, smells, textures and tastes of your dreams come true. Even more importantly, imagine the feelings of the outcome you seek as these hold the most powerful magnetic force for attracting your desires. How you feel about what you imagine will determine whether you will successfully attract it or not. If you visualise your dream car yet are filled with feelings of frustration for not having it, or doubt about ever manifesting it, or jealousy at your friend for already having it, you will activate the law of attraction against you rather than for you and re-enforce the absence rather than existence of that car in your life. Your feelings are powerful indicators of what’s going on internally and point to beliefs and attitudes that may need changing or aligning. Page 5 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Fire Your Desire Desire breaths life into your dreams and fuels your imagination and expectation. When you get in touch with your desire, your imagination, along with all the positive thoughts and feelings about your goal, are ignited. To get in touch with the desire you have for your goal, simply ask yourself ‘why do I want this?’, as you answer the whys, your passions and emotions stir and your imagination flows. Future Causation Another tool for aligning your heart and mind to the outcome of your desires is what I call future causation. Essentially, time and space are an illusion. The future you desire already exists. Instead of trying to imagine what that future will be like from your present, travel to that bright future and experience it for real. This has been one of the most profound techniques I have used. The insights I have received in connecting to a desired future in this way have gone beyond the limits of my present imagination or what I would have consciously contrived. I have been gifted with information and states of being that have been way ‘outside the box’ and have changed me and my reality in the present. This is why I call it future causation for it can instantly and radically shift your current state of vibration by the power of resonance. Connecting to that future creates a bridge to that future and acts as a portal for its manifestation in your world. Your future is always influencing your present. The good news is you can choose the future you wish to influence you and allow it to change you right now. My Future Causation audio recording enables you to experience your desired future and align your vibration to that future which will transform your present reality. As Mike Dooley, author of Notes from the Universe so neatly puts it, “Dwelling from not upon the space you want to inherit, is the fastest way to change absolutely everything.” Page 6 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Practise stepping into your future on a regular basis. What kind of decisions would that future you make, how would they think, feel and be? What solutions would they find, successes create, challenges overcome and so forth? Also, get prepared by taking action steps towards your goal. What needs to be done on a practical level for you to be ready for this reality? What new resources, contacts and skills and might you need? Think from your future and act accordingly. This will mark your belief, expectation and commitment. For your dream to land in your reality you need to create the space and be ready for it. Belief and Deserving To successfully attract your desires it is essential that your beliefs are congruent with them. If, for example, you want a happy loving relationship but hold negative beliefs about the opposite sex, love, or yourself for that matter, you’ll create counter results. Beliefs are formed during childhood and at other key times in your life. They can be shaped and influenced by family, peers, society and media, and there may be a great many you are not even conscious of. To identify your beliefs, look at an area of your life that isn’t working and ask yourself the question, ‘What must I believe for this to be the case?’ Your reality is a direct reflection of the beliefs you hold about yourself, others and the world. Beliefs are not the truth, just a perception and acceptance of such. What’s great about beliefs is that you can change them and choose the ones that suit you and support your visions and dreams. Clearing negative beliefs and installing empowering ones is essential for creating a life aligned to your heart’s desires, as I explore in my ‘Belief Buster’. Another key ingredient to attracting and allowing the realities you seek is a sense of deserving. If you don’t feel that you deserve the reality you desire, you will block its manifestation or sabotage it when it arrives. Your sense of deserving reflects your level of self-value and is tampered by guilt, shame, self-judgment and negative self-concepts. Self-love and self-forgiveness always increase your Page 7 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss sense of deserving. The truth is you deserve totally and utterly just by being alive. When you recognize and awaken to the true nature of your being, your inherent innocence and worth, issues of deserving are resolved. Stepping Stones & Opportunity Sometimes what first shows up in your reality is a stepping stone that will take you to your goal rather than the goal itself. It may not look like what you were expecting or anticipating but can be just what’s necessary to bridge the gap to your dreams and take you to where we want to be. For this reason, openness and humility is important. A stepping stone may be a person, challenge, insight or learning. It may be a healing or an event that will help you strengthen your character or resolve. It may be an opportunity for love, joy or happiness that will increase our emotional vibration in a way that is necessary for you to attract what you desire. Trust in the bigger unfolding picture. The universe knows the most elegant and rewarding path to your dreams. When you work with the law of attraction opportunities will come, so it’s important to make yourself available for them, recognize them when they arise and act on them. Every experience, every event, every connection can have meaning and significance and serve as a stepping stone to take you to your goals. The universe will orchestrate all elements of your life towards the symphony of your success if you are open and allow. Making yourself available for opportunity can mean stepping outside your current comfort zone, communicating and sharing yourself, enquiring, asking for help, sowing seeds, getting out there, looking for resources and being proactive towards your goals. The more rods you place into the stream of life, the more fish can come your way. Being open to and acting on the opportunities that arise is to essentially ‘receive’ the universe’s resources that will bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. This is an important step in maximizing the law of Page 8 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss attraction. It will enable you to take leaps and bounds towards your success, or rather, for your success to take leaps and bounds towards you. When it comes to acting on opportunity, use discernment and listen to your feelings and intuition and the internal dial of your senses. I’ve found that unless something feels ‘off’ it has always served as an opportunity. Sometimes that opportunity didn’t reveal itself until weeks, months or even years later. There can be a gift in every circumstance you experience. What’s more, each opportunity can lead to a myriad of other opportunities and be a well-spring of further resources. The Grace of Co-creation You have free will and can sculpt your world in accordance with your desires. You both consciously and unconsciously create the world around you, yet you are not alone in the process. You are a co-creator with the source of life, whatever name you hold for such, that ever conspires in your favour and will perform any amount of miracles and magic for the attainment of your desires. How do you engage co-creation? By asking and allowing, by choosing and receiving, by being open to and trusting in its workings. Seed your intentions with your desire and be open and willing to receive their fruits in your world. It’s not a tough job, though it does involve being clear - clear about what you want, clear in your belief that you can achieve it and clear in knowing that you deserve it (which, of course, you always do). You are the only one who can stand in your way. The universe always says yes. Your reality is a reflection and extension of the entirety of your mind, a hologram of your consciousness. It is also a platform and gateway with which the universe can communicate with you via signs, signals and ‘whispers’ in your day to day life that serve as pointers and nudges to guide and assist you on your path. The more you recognise that you are eternally connected to an all-loving infinitely abundant source, the more you will allow in the gifts and synchronicities Page 9 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss that require only a willingness and openness to receive. I devote a whole chapter of my forthcoming book Miracle Mind to receiving. It is so often the missing ingredient to success. Any blocks to receiving are blocks to the realities you desire. Practise receiving in all areas of your life, whether it’s compliments, gifts, the experience of another, the beauty of nature. When you appreciate something and are grateful for it you allow it in, you receive it. Receiving creates a gateway through which the universe can bring gifts into your life. It enables the magic of co-creation and the serendipitous possibilities beyond the limits of your imaginings. The more you allow yourself to receive, the more elegant, swift and bountiful your attraction becomes. Receiving is often regarded as something you do in response to a gift, yet developing the willingness and ability to receive in and of itself creates those very gifts appearing in your reality. As the saying goes, when the receiver is ready the gift appears. The universe is an oasis of dreams come true. All you desire is yours to receive. Honouring Your Emotions A potential problem some people encounter when they begin to explore the law of attraction is a fear of their negative emotions and the corresponding negative consequences they may attract. Because of this they attempt to control, deny or repress their feelings, yet this simply doesn’t work. What we resist persists. It is what we acknowledge and accept that we can naturally let go of and release. What we deny does not go away, and will inevitably leak into our world in the circumstances, people and events we attract. Repressed emotions distort our energy, and cloud the filters with which we create our world. There are numerous techniques nowadays for transmuting and releasing emotions, everything from tapping to time-line therapy, meditation, Sedona and beyond. External resources such as music, beauty and exercise and internal resources - your beliefs, choices, focus and imagination - can all be utilised. Page 10 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Forgiveness of self and others is an incredibly powerful way to release and transform whole clusters of emotion. It is the ultimate mind-body-soul detox and can liberate you from toxic emotions and draining attachments. Appreciation and gratitude are also very effective in shifting your emotional resonance and disengaging low vibrational states. Feeling your feelings is a fast way to release them. This doesn’t mean indulging in them or giving them undue attention if they do not serve you, more it enables them to move through you and be expressed. It takes more energy to stuff emotions down than to experience them. Acknowledging, accepting and feeling an emotion will enable its release. Your feelings are powerful indicators of what’s going on inside. Listen to what they are telling you about yourself, your life and your world and any corresponding thoughts and beliefs you may hold. Desire versus Need There is a difference between desire and need or desperation. Need and desperation are synonymous with feelings of lack and the absence of what you want hence will repel your desired goal and perpetuate your not having it. Desire, however, is a positive generating emotion. It fuels your imagination, expectation and all the positive feelings associated with your goal so integral to successfully attracting it. Be passionate about your outcome yet remain light-hearted and unattached to ensure you don’t become needy or dependent on it. Focus What you give attention to grows. The energy of your thoughts, feelings, imagination and desire feeds your experience. Anytime you are focussed on what you don’t want you are giving it attention and magnifying it in your life. Words like ‘don’t’, ‘not’ and ‘no’ may indicate where you are focussing on what you don’t want rather than what you do. Page 11 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Feed your dreams not your fears. Feed your successes not your failures. Your thoughts, feelings and the focus with which you apply them are directional. They are heading somewhere. If they feel good, so will be your destination. Acknowledge and celebrate your successes. Keep a success journal and note every event and circumstance that is a positive movement towards your goal, including internal qualitative experiences such as how happy, grateful or good you’re feeling. Also, record the synchronicities and serendipities that show up. Acknowledging your progress increases your focus on the results you desire and builds your belief and expectation. Hindering Hows When pondering your preferences, visioning your dreams, or accessing our heart’s desires, don’t get trapped into wondering how you’re going to get there. Asking yourself ‘how’ breeds doubt and limits your imagination and the vistas of your horizons. Let the universe work out the hows for you. From its vantage point of boundless possibilities this is a fun and easy task. Your job is to recognise the opportunities, rejoice in the gifts that come your way, celebrate your successes and gratefully relish how delightful and magical your journey is. Persistence Engaging the law of attraction is about harnessing the power of your mind and emotions. It involves creating a new approach to your life and the way you think and feel for the attainment of your desires. This may take practise. If you don’t manifest immediate results and your goal does not materialise instantly before your eyes, don’t give up. Work at refining your tools of attraction, your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes, your imagination, desire, and connection to your bright future and true self. You will notice results in your reality. Celebrate these along with the signs, signals and synchronicities that present themselves. Be open to opportunities that come your way and act on them. Your dreams, like seeds germinating, will route and sprout when given the sunlight, water and Page 12 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss nourishment of your heart and mind. Be persistent. Aligning your vibration to the future you desire may involve changing gears and stages of growth, as well as letting go of what may stand in your way. Your True Self Perhaps the fastest way to raise your vibration and maximise the law of attraction in your favour is to connect to the truth of who you are. You are a spiritual being of love and light. When you connect to your true self beyond your personality, you discover the magnificence of your being and your inherent beauty, innocence and worth. Your negative self-concepts and beliefs fall away as you experience the love of who you are. The more you connect to this truth, the more effortless your successes become, for you realise there is no separation between you and the love of source and anything you desire is yours by choice. When you connect to your true/higher self, you experience your value in such a way that you become an irresistible magnet to the realities you desire. Anything that helps you connect to your higher self and brings you happiness, joy, love and laughter is worth making a priority. The happier you are, the more connected you are to your true self and the more elegantly you will attract your desires in all areas of your life. When you make happiness your priority you’ll find you will also attract the successes you seek as these naturally equate with your happiness and exist within its field of resonance. I don’t need to be rescued.” Her voice faltered over the word “rescued.” No? Listen to what you just told me. You said your big dreams were to: win the lottery inherit a lot of money find a rich man. Which one is not being rescued?" My student was quiet for a few moments as the realization sunk in deeper that she had been looking for an answer outside her self – a rescuer. There is nothing wrong with dreaming big dreams like I want to become a millionaire Page 14 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I want to own a nation-wide chain of restaurants (or auto parts stores). I want to be a famous author. Each of these dreams can come true, if you are willing to do the foot-work. To be a famous author, you must write a book. To own a nation-wide chain of anything, you must begin with one and learn the industry well. To become a millionaire, you must know what you enjoy doing and do it well, noticing each opportunity the Law of Attraction brings your way as you climb the “stairway to heaven.” Now, you may be wondering if there is a difference between old-fashioned hard work and using Law of Attraction if you still have to do the work. Good question! You have been born for a purpose. There’s a reason you have shown up on earth at this time. The Law of Attraction helps you recognize just what that purpose is, by letting you experience “contrast” –a which teaches you what is not in alignment with your purposes--and letting you experience “excitement, joy and fulfilment” –a which teaches you what is in alignment with your purpose in this life time. As you follow your heart’s desires, you develop into the person you were born to be. Every desire, every dream, every imagination of who you could be, and what you could do comes with its own unique blueprint. This blueprint includes the lessons to be learned along the way to becoming “a millionaire”, a “famous author”, or anything else you want to become. The blueprint also knows the timing of events that must occur for you to recognize your purposes and achieve them. Last summer, I received a great lesson in timing and development. It happened about two months after I moved into my new condo. The developer began landscaping the ground between my condo and the one next to mine. Every morning I sat by my living room window to watch the progress. First they Page 15 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss brought in big machinery to scrape away the dirt which had been covering up a cement tunnel connecting the two underground parking lots. Once the cement was exposed and cleaned thoroughly, a layer of tar was applied. Next, a crew of men applied a layer of tar paper, followed by strips of something that looked like asphalt shingles on a big roll. On top of the asphalt shingles the men spread a layer of gravel and finally they laid down rubber strips. THEN the developer began the task of bringing in the dirt, followed by trees and shrubs and grass. It took over a month to complete this piece of landscaping. Did the landscaper who designed the layout of this piece of earth have a dream, a vision? Yes she did! What would have happened if she had taken a shortcut and left out one of these steps? More than likely, the underground parking lots would now be underground streams of running water. Everything that might have been planted above the parking lots would need to be removed and the whole process done properly. The cost to remediate (fix) the shortcut would have more than doubled the cost of doing it right the first time. Are you starting to get the picture? Yes, dream big. Discover what you truly love to do. Learn everything about it. Practice doing it until you can do it with your eyes closed. Expect the Law of Attraction to guide you to and through each lesson you need to learn so you CAN be the millionaire, the famous author or whatever you came forth to be and do. The Law of Attraction will make your journey to the top as easy as possible; and it will make sure you receive all the financial, physical, emotional and mental support you need as you grow and develop. It must do so, it is the Law. If you have been focusing on being rescued, as my student was, take a few moments to write down what you’d use the million dollars for. What would you do with an inheritance? What if you had all the financial security (assurance) you needed--what would you do? Who would you be? Start your answer with something like, “If I had my way, I’d be doing...” or, “If I had my way, I’d Page 16 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss become...” Your answer is a clue to your purpose on earth. Write it down. Keep it in your line of vision. Be willing to do the work and the work will be meaningful and fulfilling. Page 17 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Inner Directed Marketing – A New Way to Prosper in Tough Times by Dr. Joe Vitale One day many years ago I asked a man how he got new business. He replied, “Angels hand out my business cards.” Yes, that’s really what he said. I thought he was pretty strange, too, so I didn’t pursue the matter with him. But I did notice that he seemed busy and prosperous. He was getting business, some how, some way. A year or so ago another man and I were talking. I asked him the same question. He answered, “Mostly I get business by wishing for it.” He, too, seemed busy and doing well. I’m not kidding here. But were they? I don’t think so. If you’ve read my latest book, “Spiritual Marketing,” you know I believe in magic and miracles. But you would also know that I believe in being practical. If wishing doesn’t work, it needs replaced. If angels aren’t bringing in new business, they need fired. But here’s the rub: Wishing and angels DO seem to bring in new business. Quit rolling your eyes. Let me explain: When I was in Las Vegas October 6, 2001, for the now famous Guerilla Marketing Boot Camp featuring best-selling author Jay Conrad Levinson and Aesop Marketing’s CEO Mark Joyner, I met many “old friends” for the first time. I didn’t get to spend enough time with any of them, but the brief moments I had with a couple of them were illuminating. Page 18 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Joe Sugarman, the genius behind the world-wide success of BluBlocker sunglasses and the author of several masterpieces on marketing, walked up to me and congratulated me on my “Spiritual Marketing” book. “I didn’t know you were so spiritual,” he said. “That was a real surprise to learn. That’s what I’ve been doing for years.” What!? One of the greatest marketing minds in the history of America just admitted that he used SPIRITUAL principles to make money!?!?!!?!? And to make A LOT of money, at that!? Days later, once he and I had returned to our homes after the seminar, Joe sent me an email saying he practiced a simple two-step process for getting results: Visualize it and let it go. That’s it! Okay, okay. I’ve got one man talking to angels, another wishing for business, and Joe Sugarman imagining his desires and letting them just, well, go. What’s happening here? I’ll tell you what’s happening. It’s an awakening in business. My friend John Harricharan, author of the great book, “The Power Pause,” once told me, “The next trend will be spiritual. We went through the information age. We’re now going into the spiritual age.” Just the other day John wrote me an email saying, “There is a loud cry and yearning for things of the spirit, but not like it used to be. Now the world is looking for "practical spirituality” –a not spirituality that spends an hour or two a week in a church, synagogue, mosque or temple. But a spirituality that pervades our business, our relationships and all phases of our lives. It’s like my late, great Page 19 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss friend, Sun Bear once said, ‘If your medicine doesn’t grow corn, of what use is it?’” More and more people today are beginning to realize that their power for creating wealth in the world isn’t THEIR power at all. Instead, it’s the right use of THE power – which is the energy of all that is. But, how do you use this strange new way to get more business? Simple. I call it “Inner Directed Marketing.” Consider it a shorthand version of “Spiritual Marketing.” Consider it a slight refinement of what Joe Sugarman said he does. Here’s how it works: Step One: Set an intention. Intention rules the earth. When you state “I WILL...” or “I AM...” and then complete the sentence with a clear statement of whatever it is you want to be, do, or have, you create a command that vibrates with power. An example might be, “I WILL write an article on Inner Directed Marketing that helps people easily get better results and which will somehow lead to my receiving $50,000 every month in passive income.” Tall order? Maybe. But I believe anything is possible, so why not shoot for the moon? As Robert Collier said, “Plant the seed of desire in your mind and it forms a nucleus with power to attract to itself everything needed for its fulfillment.” It also helps if I clearly visualize this intention, and if I fully feel what it would be like to already have achieved it. Step Two: Let it go. Letting go is where the magic happens. Letting go means you are okay getting your intention AND you are okay if you don’t get it. It’s a state of cool detachment. It’s a state of neutrality toward your intention: You WANT it but you don’t NEED it. When you release your intention to the world, you are releasing a “magic spell” that will stir the energy of all that is to do your bidding. Page 20 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Now this doesn’t mean you don’t DO anything. Instead, what it means is that you act on the impulses you get and the opportunities you receive. By doing so, you’ll be brought to the thing you want---or to something even better. In another email to me from Joe Sugarman (used here with his permission), he clarified this two-step process by explaining it this way: “Having established in your own mind the power of thought, let us say you then create the energy (thought) and let it go. It goes through the universe with a power and a fury that you wouldn’t believe. But the second key here is that you don’t want to dwell on what you’ve just let go or keep visualizing it or even keep thinking about it. Why? Because it interferes with the perfection of the universe to manifest exactly what you want to accomplish.” Still confused? I’m with you. I was confused at first, too. This two step process is just as strange as the five-step one in my “Spiritual Marketing” book, or the wishing one, or angels one, of my friends. The thing is, all these methods work. They work for me, and I have a dozen books, several audiotapes, a country estate, and a luxury sports car to prove it. And they work for Joe Sugarman, who has built an empire. In fact, these “inside out” methods work for all the quietly daring business people who practice this white magic approach to marketing. Want more proof? Take Bob Scheinfeld. He’s the author of “The Invisible Path to Success.” He says his very spiritual method was used to build Fortune 500 companies, help a computer store jump from $90 million to $350 million in sales, and help a software company leap from $1.27 million to $21.8 million in sales. Talk about hard evidence! Page 21 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I could probably quote from a thousand books at this point. I’ll just reach over and grab a book I am currently reading: “Immortal Man” by Neville. Here’s what that great New Thought teacher said in one of his lectures: “First, have a dream, and by a dream I mean a day dream, a glorious, wonderful day dream. Then ask yourself, ‘What would it be like if it were true that I am now the man I am dreaming I would like to be. What would it be like?’ Then catch the mood of the wish fulfilled and drench yourself with that feeling. Then for all your tomorrows try to the best of your ability to walk faithful to that assumption, and I am telling you from my own experience, in a way that no one knows, it will come and it will come suddenly.” It’s truly that easy. And you don’t have to talk to angels to make it happen! In fact, you can probably reduce all these methods and all these steps to just one approach to making your dreams come true: Be happy. That’s right. Be happy. As my friend Barry Neil Kaufman wrote in his wonderful book, “Power Dialogues”: “You can get what you want without needing it to be happy.” He says when you are happy, you are more inclined to go for, and get, your dreams. And if for some reason you don’t manifest your goal, well, you’re still happy! I’ve always felt there was an escalator through life. I’ve found it. And I just showed you where it is. Starting from scratch I banked over $51,351.94 my first 6 ½ months online, just working part- time out of the corner of my living room. Now today at age 31, I’ve gone on to earn over 7-figures. How did I go from a standing start to banking mega profits? To do that, what I think you really need are these inner secrets to mega internet success. This has nothing to do with search engines, pay-per-clicks. It doesn’t have anything to do with any of the tactical stuff. It’s all a lot of stuff that goes on in your head. Secret #1: Cheerful Expectancy One of my biggest mentors is Earl Nightingale. He passed away several years ago but you need to get everything he recorded at Nightingale.com. He has a program called “Lead the Field” and “The Strangest Secret.” Just listen to that thing over and over again. He talks about cheerful expectancy. There’s a big difference between having expectancy versus hoping or wishing something is going to occur. When you have that cheerful expectancy, you know it’s going to occur. And that doesn’t just come from being “Pollyannaish” or having rose-colored glasses. It comes from having knowledge. And you get that knowledge from studying in your field whatever it is. It could be Internet marketing or it could be neurology. Page 24 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss That means reading, studying and buying everything and absolutely immersing yourself in it. I learned from Earl Nightingale that if you want to be an expert, you spend an hour a day reading on whatever subject that you’re interested in, that you want to be an expert on. So I said, “Well, what would happen if I read for three hours a day?” I just started learning as much as I possibly could, and that knowledge gives you the confidence to know that you have that positive expectancy. Your expectations determine your results. Secret #2: Do one proactive thing a day You don’t need to do 100 things a day. Just get that one proactive thing a day. So each little brick builds a big wall for you. Trust me it’s easy to be overwhelmed with hundreds of tasks. You’re like, “Oh, we need to do e-zine ads and free-for-alls and pay-per-click search engines, and I need to do all this other stuff.” Ahhhhhhhhhhh! But just relax and do one task a day. Your action will create more and more and more action for you. You simply need to make a commitment to do one proactive thing a day no matter what. Even if you’re dead tired and worked a 14-hour day - come home and mail one letter or send out one joint venture proposal. I’m telling you - just these little tiny proactive things will have an immense impact. Most everyone has heard of the ‘80/20 rule’ or the Pareto Principle. It says that 20% of your actions produce 80% of your results, and the other way around. 80% of your work only creates 20% of your results. So go back and look where your successes came from, and I know that they’re from a tiny little group of actions. So if you just get that one proactive thing a Page 25 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss day (from the 20% group) that is going to propel you further, that’s going to bring you to where you want to be. Make it a point to focus on those “20% activities”. In Stephen Covey’s famous work “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” he calls these activities “important but not urgent”. One of my Apprentices, Peter Woodhead, from the UK is a perfect example of simply doing one proactive thing a day. A lot of Apprentices bolted out of the gate during our one year program but Peter was an Internet newbie and he also had a full time job so he was a bit slower getting started. However, he took my advice and simply managed to do one proactive thing every single day. No matter how big or how small. It could be writing one autoresponder message or it might have been writing 50 headlines. No matter the day - Peter was moving ahead. And not surprisingly his project was completed before many of the other Apprentices were finished. Secret #3: Decision This is such a big point. A lot of people have so many problems with decision. That’s because they don’t like it because it cuts off other options. But frankly that’s exactly what you want. You want to cut off other options. One of our top apprentices, Cindy Kappler, WebAdMagic.com, had no other option but to succeed because she quit her job. Now I’m not encouraging you to do that if you still have a real job but it does prove if you cut off your options, you’re much more motivated. Successful people make decisions quickly. There’s a magic of attraction when you make your decision. However, when you’re hemming and hawing, you don’t experience this magic. I don’t want to get into too much woo-woo or metaphysical or spiritual stuff. But there’s this magic of attraction. I can’t even explain it. When you set your mind up that you’re going to do this, all of a sudden, at the next dinner party Page 26 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss you’re attending you meet somebody that can help you get to where you want to go. Is that luck or is that something else? I don’t think it’s luck. It’s like once the decision is made your mind is tuned into the solution and all kinds of ‘freaky’ coincidences and occurrences happen. And that brings me to another important point about decisions – fail quickly. Don’t be afraid of failure. A lot of people are so afraid of screwing up, or making a mistake that they are forever frozen. Who the hell cares? Screw up quickly! I screw up all the time. And you want to fail quickly. That’s the great part about the Internet. You want to go out there and find out if your dumb idea is going to work right away. You can do it in days instead of months. Sometimes hours and if it doesn’t work, you move on. You say, “Next!” Look, I know a lot of people who are working on their products for the last two, three, four years. Get the damned thing out! You just make it better as you go along. InstantSalesLetters.com, our first product was not where it is now. We’ve added a ton of stuff to it and made it better. But I just wanted to see if the thing was going to sell. It wasn’t complete and utter rubbish, as my British friends say, but it was enough that it made the point. It found out if there was a marketplace for it. So find out. Some people like to go around at dinner parties and so on and say, “I’m writing a book. I’ve been writing a book for five years. I’m an author.” Uh huh... Page 27 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I can show you 6 different ways to have your book done in days. It’s a cop-out and complete B.S. Bottom line - make the decision to get the product out there. See what happens and fail quickly. Now get out there and do it! Copyright © Surefire Marketing, Inc. Demartini Could the quality of your life be determined by the quality of the questions you ask yourself daily? The answer is absolutely yes! Imagine the difference in outcomes from asking yourself just the two following alternative questions. 1. How can I afford to go on vacation? 2. How can I get enormously paid to go on my dream vacation? The first question leads you to ponder how you can reshuffle your economic resources and valuable time in such a way, so as to be able to take time off for a vacation that costs. The second question leads you to contemplate how you could actually get paid to go and possibly build your wealth while going on a dream vacation. The former vacation results in a price, the latter in a rewarding dream. You are probably used to asking yourself the first kind of question and have not even considered the second kind. Of course, the former leads you toward living a more quiet life of frustration and desperation. But when you have broken through to another level of questioning you begin to ask yourself more specific, self-actualizing questions, which open the doorway to a more inspired and fulfilling life. For you to live a high quality life you must demand from yourself the answers to high quality questions. Quality questioning involves a form of deeper self-inspection. Sometimes a whole series of possible answers are required before you come to the one that provides you with the highest quality results. A few comparative samples of low quality and high quality questions include. Page 29 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Low Quality High Quality How can I get my partner to be more How can I communicate what I would considerate love in terms of what my partner would love? How come people are so stupid and What are my customer’s motives for can’t see the value of my product? buying and how do I communicate in terms of their values? The quality of your life is based partly upon the quality of the questions you ask yourself daily. If you are not inspired about your life or if you are not living the life you truly dream of, it just may be because you are not asking yourself the highest quality questions. The moment you do is the moment your life begins to transform. When you are struggling through life you are asking yourself such uninspiring questions that your life becomes exactly that, uninspiring. Asking yourself low-quality questions leads to a low quality life, but asking yourself high quality questions is one of the keys to living the more selfactualized life you dreamed of and deserve. There is a bit of thinking involved in asking and answering high quality questions, but with a little effort and refinement you can certainly accomplish a great Page 30 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss number of objectives and fulfill a greater number of dreams. Don’t you deserve to live your dreams? Don’t you deserve to self-actualize your life? Now, begin asking yourself quality questions and see where the answers lead you. Be as specific and concise as you can. Watch how your creativity begins to soar. The quality of your life is based partly upon the quality of the questions you ask yourself daily and the quality and quantity of actions you take for yourself daily. Begin to ask higher quality questions and begin to act on your dreams today. Here are seven of the questions I love to ask my self each day. 1. What would I absolutely love to do in life? 2. How do I become handsomely or beautifully paid to do it? 3. What are the seven highest priority actions steps I could complete today that would enable me to do it? 4. What obstacles might I run into and how do I solve them in advance? 5. What worked and didn’t work today? 6. How do I do what I would love more effectively and efficiently? 7. How did whatever I experienced today, whether positive or negative serve me? Remember… high quality questions lead to a high quality life! Copyright © Dr. John F. Behind us, the clouds are reflecting the colors in a light-show that would make the Grateful Dead (even the dead ones) smile. Betsy and I have stopped on our way back to Taos, New Mexico, to take pictures of the sunset. We’re a half-mile down a dirt road in the middle of the Taos valley, and I’m snapping away with my new Nikon D-50. After the lightshow fades, and the cockatiels’ feathers swoop behind the mountain for the last time, we climb back into the Volvo and head for our suite at the Taos Inn. It’s nice. Fit for a movie star – Dennis Hopper stayed there the night before. It’s bigger then some apartments I’ve lived in and beautifully appointed. In a little while, we’ll have a gourmet New-Mexico feast in the hotel restaurant. We’ll end the night in the hot-tub in the garden area just outside our room, with a glass of good Australian Shiraz. As I sit on the couch, looking up at the R.C. Gorman painting hanging on the stucco wall, I’ve just got one question: “how did I get here?” I have those moments occasionally. It was less than three years ago that I was a struggling musician. I spent over thirty years as a struggling musician. Struggling to pay the rent from the money I Page 32 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss made playing guitars in bars. Repossessions, overdrafts, cheap beer, pinto beans and corn tortillas, and a constant refrain of “No, we can’t afford it.” In the past month, I’ve made more money than I made in any five years of playing guitar. I’m grateful for the freedom that having a successful “Portable Empire” has given me, but sometimes it just jerks my head around. Old habits die hard. Today I’m an author, respected online marketer, video producer, seminar promoter… How did I get here? I owe it all to the power of attraction. In May, 2003, Bill Hibbler introduced me to Dr. Joe Vitale, and he gave me a slim little book called “Spiritual Marketing.” He later expanded it, and it was published as “The Attractor Factor.” I’ve still got it. It’s dog-eared and wrinkled. It starts out with a quote: “Spirit is substance which forms itself according to your demands, and must have a pattern from which to work. A pan of dough is as willing to be formed into bread as biscuit. It makes little difference to Spirit what we demand”- Frances Larimer Warner At the time, this made about as much sense to me as trickle-down economics. Since then, I’ve learned that it’s the rock-solid formula for living your dreams. It’s a little “woo-woo,” and metaphysical. It works. Page 33 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss In “Spiritual Marketing,” Joe explains that the planet Earth works like a Star Trek episode he watched once about a planet that reads thoughts and creates what humans think about. That’s actually one of the tenets of the Law of Attraction- you get more of what you focus on. I was “broke” because I thought broke thoughts. I was in poverty because the frame I used to view the world was defined by my thoughts- and my thoughts were pretty typical for a hack blues guitar player. I took Joe’s book with me on a disastrous (but beautiful) tour of England, Scotland, Holland and Sweden. During the day, I immersed myself in his fascinating guidebook to the power of attraction as we drove along the coast of Western Europe. At night, I was playing guitar and singin’ the blues. Everywhere we played, people commented on my shiny silver National Steel guitar. They don’t get much bottle-neck blues, apparently, and they like it. I’m singing the American Blues library: my woman left, I ain’t got no money, times are hard… After a while, I started to see the connection- and understand why I was living the blues. After the tour, I was robbed at a scenic Roman Abbey outside of Farnham England. Guitars, passport, and money – gone. I got back to Texas just in time to move my stuff out of the single-wide trailer house I shared with my son- one step ahead of the repo man. That robbery was the best thing that ever happened to me. It gave me the opportunity to look at what I was doing and realize, once and for all, that it just wasn’t working. Page 34 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss It was remarkably liberating. I could almost hear the old frame breaking and falling away. With my new information about the Law of Attraction, I was able to look at the world as if I had just found it by accident. By accepting that everything I had known up to that point was wrong, I was able to just delete my old thoughts and beliefs and start with a clean slate. With Dr. Vitale’s help, I began a program to re-program my mind. Our minds are like a computer in many ways. One of those ways is defined by the early computer acronym, “GIGO,” which translates as “Garbage in, garbage out.” It’s true. These days, I’m extremely careful what I put in my head, because I know that what I put in is what will manifest. Instead of downer TV shows and blues and country songs about cheating and losing, I have a steady diet of positive books and uplifting music. Once I started paying attention, I noticed that most of the people I was hanging out with had a constant monologue of negative predictions, poverty, and, basically, loser talk. That presented a dilemma. I didn’t want those attitudes in my world, but what was the alternative? I didn’t want to hide in my office with no one to talk to. Finally, I decided to stop making time for those people. Almost immediately, that vacuum was filled with new friends who are positive, creative, and- no surprise- successful. I pay close attention to what I say when I talk to myself. Self-talk is the program our inner computer runs on. When I realized that I could control the background noise in my head, and program myself for success, it was a major epiphany. Prosperity and happiness in, prosperity and happiness out. Much better program. Page 35 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss It was Cindy Cashman who first cautioned me to pay close attention to what I said. We were at our weekly MasterMind meeting, and I said I was going to try to do something. She immediately stopped me- “don’t say try,” she said. “If you’re going to do something, set a firm intention and then do it.” Wow. What a concept. In his book, Joe went on to give the steps you can take to attract what you want: 1. Know what you don’t want 2. Select what you would like to have, do or be 3. Get clear 4. Feel how exciting it would be (will be) to have, do or be whatever you want 5. Let go You can pick up a copy of “The Attractor Factor” at Amazon.com for a full explanation of how to implement those steps. Go ahead, I’ll wait. At first, it was slow going. Earlier this week, Joe and I were sitting at his kitchen table, celebrating my first six-figure month. I reminded him of an earlier conversation we had on his front porch, and we both laughed. It was early 2004, and I was just beginning my online career. Joe asked me what I wanted and I responded, “I just want to pay my frickin’ rent.” True story. He encouraged me to come up with a bigger goal than that. Page 36 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I went home and thought about it for a long time, and came up with the biggest goal I could possibly imagine. I’d read that it was important to write down your goals, so I grabbed an old notebook that I’d formerly used to write lyrics in and wrote, “It’s July, 2004, and I’m making $10,000 a month. This or something better for all concerned.” I couldn’t believe that I could ever make that much money, but that’s the biggest financial goal I could conceive at the time. Well, I didn’t make it. By July, 2004, I was making more like $3,000 a month. It was the most I’d ever made, but it was far below my dream/intention. I asked Joe what I had done wrong, and he pointed out that I just hadn’t grown into my dream. I couldn’t believe I could do it, so I couldn’t do it. Fair enough. It took about another six months to grow into that dream, and realize that intention. During that six months I devoured dozens of books about prosperity and the power of intention. I read T. Harv Eker’s book on “The Millionaire Mind,” which pretty much explained the problem. I read Steve Siebold’s book, “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class.” It’s still here on my desk, and I refer back to it daily. I read, “The Power of Impossible Thinking,” (Wind, Crook, Gunther). Over time, I learned to program my mind for prosperity. It felt like slow going to me, but I kept at it. One day I looked up and realized that I had achieved my intention. After that, it became like a game. I had found a new toy, or a new instrument to play. I learned to play the Power of Attraction like my National Steel guitar. Page 37 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss And like any instrument, playing it got easier with practice. I asked myself, “What was the next most outrageous thing I could think of to do?” Over the next year, I built my business. I attracted a large list of subscribers. I wrote e-books, made audio products, started a mentoring program, and just generally had a ball trying new tunes on my new instrument. The more I used the power of attraction, the easier it became to use. I’d been to several internet marketing seminars. Putting on my own seminar seemed like an appropriately outrageous thing to do. It also felt like “good work.” I wanted to share the “Portable Empire” experience with the world, and the best way to do it would be to gather the people who taught me, and make them available to the attendees. It was surprisingly easy to write out my intention, and believe that I could attract it. I was only a little surprised when every person I asked to speak at the seminar said “yes,” and the seminar sold out in six hours. While I was at it, why not buy some professional video cameras and record it? For a guy who was, just over two years ago, pretty much homeless and unemployed, I was having a whole lot of fun. The seminar was outrageously successful, and several of the attendees have gone on to become successful marketers. That feels good. It also proves a very important point: it’s not that I’m “special,” or that what I’ve done is all that extraordinary. Just about anybody can do it, once they’ve been taught how. We captured the entire event on video, and the DVDs tell the whole story. Now, anybody can learn to do it. In July of this year, we released the videos of the seminar, and then headed off for our first (ever) real vacation, in Taos, New Mexico. Page 38 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss It’s been amazing how, just as I needed them, the right people have magically appeared to help me with the business. My personal assistant kept the office open, worked on the next product we’re going to launch, and fed the cat. The fulfillment house handled making the DVDs and CDs, packing, and shipping them. Later that night, back in the suite in Taos, I’m relaxed from the hot tub and slightly buzzed on the Shiraz. Betsy’s on the other couch, checking her email. I curl up with my laptop computer and post some of the sundown pictures on my blog. Then, I check out the DVD sales at 1shoppingcart, and just about drop the glass of wine on the ancient Navajo rug. If I hadn’t written down the intention, I wouldn’t believe it- I’m having my first “six figure” month. Now what? I grab my “magic book,” where I post my intentions, and write: “It’s January, 2007, and I’m consistently making more than $100,000 a month. My business is running smoothly, and I’m taking time to take good care of myself. Betsy is healthy, happy and content. The children are healthy, happy and cheerfully employed. This or better for all concerned.” I close my eyes and feel how that’s going to feel. It feels good. Then I “let go,” and let the Universe do its thing. It’s out of my hands, but I don’t have any doubts about the outcome. At all. Page 39 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Three Keys: The Easier Way to Everything By Amy Scott Grant I used to work really hard for everything. Back then, I didn’t know any better. I thought working hard was the way to get what I wanted. When I began to master the Law of Attraction, I was mesmerized by how easily I could get what I wanted without working hard at all. In fact, the less effort I put forth, the more quickly my intentions would materialize. Now there’s a lot of folks who think I’m lazy. Or lucky. Or both. Chances are, if you aren’t using the Law of Attraction intentionally, you’re working way too hard as well. You could stand to be a little lazy, too. When I first discovered the Law of Attraction, I could look back on my life and see the Law at work. For example, when I was a little girl, I wanted my name to be famous. I wanted people to hear my name and know it. However, it never occurred to me that I could fall in love and marry a man who would give me a last name that would suddenly make my name famous. So now I’m Amy Grant. Arrggghh. But I can’t really be annoyed, because I got exactly what I asked for – the only problem is, I didn’t ask for what I really wanted. What I really wanted was to be famous, not to have a famous name. Asking for exactly what you want is the first key. For example, I once requested $5000 by the end of the week. As it turns out, that Friday we received a phone call from the company that was building our new Page 40 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss home. They had made an error but construction was too far along to make changes, so they were giving us a $5000 credit on upgrades. See? I got exactly what I asked for. Too bad I didn’t ask for what I really wanted, which was $5000 cash in my possession. The same is true for goal-setting: you’ll accomplish the goal you set, so you’d better be certain that you set a goal that reflects what you truly want. I go into great detail about goal setting and asking clearly for what you want in The Success Method http://thesuccessmethod.com Remember, you’ll get what you ask for, not what you want. The second key involves putting your intention or desire into existence. You can write it down, type it up or tell a supportive friend or mentor. Whichever way you choose, make it real by creating it in reality, using language. Detachment is the third key, and it’s just as critical as the first two. It took me two years to master the art of detachment. Some Law of Attraction experts call it “allowing,” others call it “receiving” and still others call it “detachment.” I call it “catch and release.” Here’s how it works. You catch a vision of what it is that you want, and you see it clear as day – just like the fish you just reeled in and netted. You admire it for a moment, you acknowledge yourself for catching it, maybe you pose for a picture to capture the excitement of the moment. Then you set it free or release it and forget all about it. You go back to whatever you were doing: fixing your pole, tying another lure, having a snack, whatever. Page 41 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss The next time you cast your line, you’re not “hoping” you’ll catch that fish again. You’re not even expecting it. When you cast again, you’ve already put that first fish out of your mind completely. In fact, when you suddenly get the urge to pull up anchor and move your boat to a completely different fishing spot, you’re certainly not thinking about the catch you just freed. And that’s precisely when the granddaddy of all fish snaps onto your line. That’s exactly how the Law of Attraction works. Let me give you a real-life example. How I Attracted $7,000 and My Ideal Business Partner I got very interested in Feng Shui a couple of years ago, when I made a few changes in my own home, and miracles began to unfold. I experimented some more and guess what happened? More miracles. I told a few friends and they started to have miracles. Soon I became hooked on Feng Shui, and I still practice it today. A few months ago, I “caught” a great idea: wouldn’t it be great to put together a teleseminar series to teach people all about Feng Shui, and show people how to create their own miracles? The idea grabbed me, and I got a vision of what it would be like. What felt natural was to attract a partner, because I had no interest in becoming the “Feng Shui Lady” and I had no formal training in the practice. Then I cast my pole elsewhere and went on to pursue other things. Or so I thought. Turns out, just a day or two later, I received an invitation to participate in a Manifestation Weekend that Dr. Joe Vitale was hosting. Page 42 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Because I had put the “catch and release” of a feng shui teleclass out of my head, I never saw any connection. I only read Joe’s email and thought “Ooooooh, this sounds interesting. I’m gonna sign up.” And I did. Two months later, I’m at the weekend and I meet Karrie King, who tells me she is a Feng Shui consultant. I suddenly remember my idea, and I share it with her: “Wow! That’s great – I’ve been looking for someone fun to do a Feng Shui teleseminar with me.” She was definitely enrolled in my idea, and we hit it off smashingly. There are a lot of different Feng Shui methodologies and perspectives, but Karrie’s were all exactly like mine. Most importantly, she shared my philosophy: let’s make Feng Shui fun and easy for people! That’s exactly what we did. After the weekend event ended, we began meeting by phone to plan our teleclass series. Within two months, we launched the program and elicited support from a number of big-name promoters. The event was hugely successful, and we each made a significant pile of money. Plus, we’ll continue to market the recorded audios from the live event at http://redhotmoneymagnet.com The moral of the story is that I got exactly what I asked for: the opportunity to teach people a fun and easy way to use Feng Shui, a great partner who wanted to be the Feng Shui Lady, and a pile of money. Feng Shui is just another way to practice the Law of Attraction. I’ve discovered all sorts of ways to use the Law, and I applied the same technique to attract my dream home. How I Attracted My Dream Home in Four Days Page 43 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss We moved to Colorado after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, my home town. After surviving our first Colorado winter, we decided to buy a home here in Castle Rock. We spent some time driving around town and thinking about what we did and didn’t want in a new home. When we were clear on what we wanted (the first key), we decided to put our intention in writing (the second key). I wrote a short description of our perfect new home, and we gave thanks as though it was already achieved. Then I forgot all about it (the third key: catch and release). A few days later, we were meeting with a financial planner and the topic of buying a new home came up, so our financial planner asked us what kind of home we were looking for. We told him exactly what we wanted and, since he lives in the area and was quite familiar with new construction in town, he made a recommendation as to where we could look. The moment he left, we scooped up our toddler and piled into the family car to check it out. The first development was not a match. On a “whim,” we decided to drive up the road a bit further, and that’s when we found it. Walking through the model, we fell in love with one floor plan in particular. However, we had made a very specific request for “sweeping mountain views” so it was time to look at the available lots for sale in the development. We met with a sales agent and looked at available properties, including one lot that wasn’t yet released. It was perfect. Page 44 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss The next day, I happened to open the notebook where I had written down our intention. I was not the least bit surprised to see that the home we selected matched our request exactly. “Our new Castle Rock home has sweeping mountain views, six bedrooms/offices, a finished walkout basement, Feng Shui compatibility, and bordering open space. This home is beautiful, affordable, conveniently located and arrives with perfect timing. Thank you God for our perfect new home!” Notice I didn’t set a price on the new home. I could have said “priced between $500,000 and $600,000” but I didn’t want to limit us in that way. What if the perfect home was $497,000? Or $601,000? Besides, the price wasn’t nearly as important to me as long as we could afford it, so I left that part of the request somewhat open-ended. Once again, I can’t stress enough the importance of asking for exactly what you want. When the house began construction, we noticed that the yard was less than ideal. Sure the lot looked big when we selected it, but our house was huge. By the time the foundation was poured and the house was framed, we realized we had a very small yard that sloped downward, which was not going to create a wonderful play space for the kids. Of course, we didn’t ask for a big yard, and once again, we got exactly what we asked for. But I didn’t stay disappointed – I simply decided to attract a solution to make our small yard workable for our family. A week later, I met the husband of a friend and as it turns out, he’s a master landscaper. We created a plan for retaining walls and play space and—poof— problem solved. Page 45 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss In case you’re thinking this has anything to do with money or time or talent or connections or resources, you deserve to read this next story. How I Attracted a Trip to Greece (Out of Thin Air) Before I began creating products and marketing on the internet, I was in network marketing – in fact, it’s where I first learned about prosperity consciousness and the law of attraction. Like most people, I was broke when I first got started in network marketing. The company I was affiliated with was having a huge conference in Greece, and I desperately wanted to be there, but my husband kept reminding me that we couldn’t afford it. Even after I attracted the money to buy my ticket to the conference (using the three keys), we didn’t have the cash to purchase international plane tickets. Yet I kept getting messages telling me to “think big.” Eventually, I decided that I would not only fly to Greece and have a fantastic time at this conference, but I was going to fly first class. My husband was not amused. In fact, he was pretty ticked off. He believed I was being completely unreasonable and unrealistic. “Blah, blah, blah” was all I heard. I was determined to fly first class. What happened next was interesting. Not only did the money randomly appear for the plane tickets, but we suddenly realized we had enough frequent flyer miles to upgrade. What’s interesting is the way the tickets were booked. Page 46 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I did absolutely nothing, except a daily visualization practice where I imagined myself sitting in first class on that plane, being treated like royalty, and eating delicious shrimp. My husband had serious doubts about flying first-class, but he was willing to check into our upgrade options. As it turned out, he spent nearly two hours on the phone with the airline’s representative, because one first-class seat got booked with no problems but the other one kept disappearing and reappearing from availability. He was speaking to a manager at the airline, who said in the 10 years she’d worked there, she’d never seen anything like it before. When I walked into his office, and he told me what was going on, I immediately began visualizing him sitting next to me in first class. My prior visualization of being alone (well, not so much alone, but not necessarily imagining him being with me), combined with his doubt about whether or not it would actually happen, were obviously at the source of the disappearing/reappearing seat in first class. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he came into my office to tell me it was complete and we were both flying first-class to Greece. He was amazed (and exhausted) but I wasn’t the least bit surprised. What did impress me, however, was the fact that I did nothing—I took no action whatsoever, other than my daily visualization. I knew I would fly first class, but my husband did all the work and I didn’t lift a finger. That’s when I started to “get” the power of the Law of Attraction. One other incident is worth noting. Even though I visualized myself eating shrimp while sitting in first class, I actually chose something else at mealtime. Whatever I ordered was terrible, and I attempted to send it back in exchange for the shrimp (which my husband had ordered, and enjoyed immensely). Unfortunately, they were out of the shrimp meal by the time I changed my mind, Page 47 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss and I was stuck with a very dissatisfying meal. Had I ordered the shrimp as I had visualized so many times before, I would have delighted in my meal. This taught me a valuable lesson: go with your gut and stick to your plan once you commit. These three stories are just isolated incidents. I’ve used the Law of Attraction to manifest piles of money, new contracts, joint ventures with people who seemed way out of my league, help from people who don’t even know me, free stuff, sale stuff, impossible to find stuff, you name it. Put simply, the three keys work. Get clear about exactly what you want, state your specific intention, and use the catch and release process. Unless of course you enjoy working hard for everything you get. Personally, I prefer to take the easier way. Why not try it yourself and see what happens? Then after trying Joe Vitale’s suggestions in “Spiritual Marketing”, I discovered that it really does work. You can read about my original experience with the law of attraction in Joe’s “The Attractor Factor”. Since that first experience, the law of attraction has worked many miracles in my life. In late 2004, I was about to sell a small piece of property and decided to use part of the proceeds to buy a car I’d always dreamed of owning, a classic late 80’s model Mercedes sedan, the 560 SEL. After some online research I discovered that I could get one in decent condition for between $6,000 and $8,000. The more I researched and shopped around, the more I got excited about getting the car. Then the property sale fell through and it looked like the car would have to wait. I had just found a mint-condition, low mileage car on eBay that was in Texas. My wife noticed my disappointment and asked why I didn’t just borrow the money since the property would eventually sell. I wanted to pay cash for the car, though, and set the intention then and there that I would get the car right away even though I wasn’t sure how I’d pay for it. This was a challenge since the eBay auction would end in only four days. Then I remembered how Joe Vitale raised the money to buy his BMW Z3 by offering an e-class to his customers. Joe needed $25,000 to buy the car so he offered his class to 25 students for $1,000 each. Page 49 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Taking a page out of Joe’s playbook, I offered a 6-week info product creation teleclass to my subscribers. On the sales letter, I put a picture of the car and explained why I was offering the class at a discount for a limited time. Many sales letters use some type of scarcity to get people to buy immediately but the ‘reason why’ usually seems manufactured. In this case, I had a legitimate reason. If they didn’t buy fast, I would lose my car. So buyers of my online course to learn to create ebooks and other info products would get a good deal and I’d get my dream car. The class quickly sold out but unfortunately, I was outbid on eBay car. However, I found another one in Austin and 10 days after setting the intention, my dream car was parked in my driveway. Plus I had several thousand left over for a new stereo system and other improvements. So why did I aim for a 17 year-old Mercedes rather than a brand-new model? Well, for one thing, I prefer this particular model. For another, at the time, I didn’t really believe I could attract that kind of money. It was beyond my comfort level. That’s an important thing to consider. If deep down inside, you don’t believe you’re capable of attracting something big, you won’t. I had to start small. Six months later, I used the law of attraction to buy a BMW Z-3 like Joe’s. I have never had so much fun driving an automobile. More recently, I used similar methods to attract a new house. Three months ago, I moved into a new custom home on a golf course. At the time I made the decision, I did not have funds set aside for a down payment, closing costs or moving expenses. Once I set the intention, there was no stopping me. I made a low offer on the house which was accepted. Within 30 days, I attracted an extra $23,000 above my normal internet marketing business income to cover all the costs. Page 50 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I could give you many other examples but you get the idea. It all starts with setting the intention. Sometimes you’ll get what you ask for in unexpected ways. So, while you can make plans for how to attract what you need but it’s often best not to specify exactly how the money will come to you. Just do your part, believe in the process and trust the universe to provide what you need. That’s when I found a book that promised I could create my own reality. I was skeptical, but too desperate to pass it up. It was right at this time I reached the end of my rope as a volunteer foster mom for stray dogs. For three months not a single dog had been placed in a new home; rather, I was just getting more dogs coming in! That’s a long time to go without an adoption, and with eight big dogs in my 850 sq ft house it didn’t take long for me to reach my wit’s end. In hindsight I understand my downward spiral was due to placing attention on what wasn’t working, which just made bad things even worse. At the time I was clueless as to why I was experiencing such bad luck, which brought me to a minimeltdown in the backyard one hot summer day while cleaning up after the canines. First Miracle That’s when I finished Adrian Calabrese’s “How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted.” I was doubtful it would make any difference, but decided to give at least one recommendation a try. Although I had no hope, no energy, and no positive outlook, I vowed to do at least one thing before I shelved the book. That one thing was “scripting.” Page 52 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Calabrese suggests talking about what you want as if it’s already happened. She didn’t use the words “law of attraction” in her book, but I now know that’s what I was invoking. My boyfriend, who knew I was walking the edge of sanity, silently patronized me while I talked about how nice it was that Jeff - our most difficult foster dog - was adopted by that wonderful couple with the two kids who loved him so much; how nice it was they had that other energetic dog to play with; how much we appreciated they lived nearby so we could visit; and what a relief to know they had plenty of money to meet any medical needs Jeff might have. Two minutes was as long as I could continue before I gave up creating this fantasy world of lightening our foster load and retreated back to the harsh reality of “nothing going right” in my world. That’s all I did. Two minutes of crazy talk. That was Thursday night. Saturday morning it was time for another adoption fair, which two of the dogs were lucky enough to have a spot in. We’d been taking the same dogs to the same adoption fair for three months now, and were discouraged at the complete lack of interest in either dog. Usually we’d refuse several applications before someone was approved for an adoption; and we weren’t even getting applications! An hour after drop-off time, the woman who managed the adoption fair called us insisting we return immediately. The only reason they call that soon is because your dog is either sick, barking too much, or there’s no room for him– whatever the reason, it isn’t good because it means he won’t be shown. I was crushed beyond belief. Another weekend without an adoption. But as she continued, she excitedly explained that there were two couples fighting over Jeff – both of whom seemed to be perfect! Both were married with two kids, both had another dog, both passed all the screening questions with flying Page 53 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss colors. She didn’t know who to choose as Jeff’s new family! This NEVER happens – especially for a challenging dog like Jeff. I was stunned when we arrived and indeed met two families, just as I’d described in my half-hearted “scripting” session, arguing over their right to adopt Jeff! To top it off, the next day our second most difficult dog was placed in another fabulous family! Two wonderful adoptions in one weekend after three months of showing the same dogs with zero luck! I was amazed and immediately fascinated with the law of attraction, and to this day rely on scripting to create big miracles. Now It Gets Good From that point on, I read everything I could get my hands on about deliberate creation, and talked about it nonstop. Any time a co-worker, neighbor or family member would complain, I’d tell them about this fabulous new thing I’d learned that fixes everything! (Most thought I was crazy.) Fast forward to five years later, I now use the law of attraction on a daily basis in every aspect of life. I quit the job I hated to start a Law of Attraction Coaching practice, which I built to a full time thriving practice in an eye-popping three months. I created amazing friendships, manifested several romances-of-a-lifetime, regained my health, dropped 15 pounds I hadn’t been able to lose in seven years, paid off my house, became completely debt free, learned how to manifest happy endings for the stray animals that came to me, and continually experience more joy, ease and happiness in life than I ever thought possible. All of which is great, of course, but using Law of Attraction (LOA) deliberately also helped me through a wide variety of life challenges and crises. I appreciate the fabulous experiences and things I created using this universal law, but I’m Page 54 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss especially thrilled with the results in resolving the hard parts of life that inevitably find us. Ask Big One of my positions in corporate America was salesperson for a new 401k product. My employer created a new department specifically to sell and service this product, and made a significant investment to ensure its success. After several months of marketing, product tweaking, strategizing and re-pricing, we weren’t anywhere near the sales needed to break even, let alone generate a profit. Four months into my new job, we were told the plug would be pulled on the whole department if we didn’t turn things around fast. That’s all I needed to hear to know it was time for something new. Management had a strict action plan for us that involved cold calling, generating referrals, scripting presentations, and closing the sale – none of which got us anywhere. With the bleak future that had been painted for us, I decided to throw in the towel on the old game plan and create my own. I started a pray rain journal. Which is nothing more than writing about what you want as if you already have it (named after Greg Braden’s “pray rain” story in “Isaiah Effect”). I’d been told if you wrote one page every day in a pray rain journal, by the time you got to the end of your journal, you’d have what you were writing about. With nothing left to lose, I threw out the cold call sheet and wrote a few sentences in a little notebook about how nice it was that perfect prospects found me. How wonderful that they were as excited about our new product as I was! How quickly and smoothly the sales process went. How appreciative new clients were of me and my service team, that provided a perfect solution to their problem. How pricing was a complete non-issue. This entry was completely farfetched based on my past four months of experience! Page 55 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss After writing just a few minutes to fill one page in my “journal,” I did the unheard of: I went to lunch. We were lucky to take 15 minutes to run down the hall (sometimes literally) to the vending machine for a Snickers. Instead, that day I left the building (!), lingered over my favorite Greek food at an outside table on a beautiful spring day, tossing leftover pita bread to the sparrows that gathered around. In short, I goofed off. I enjoyed myself! After an hour and half of delicious food, warm spring day and happy sparrows, I returned to the office refreshed and light. In the elevator on the way up, a handsome gentleman introduced himself and asked what I did. When I told him I was a 401k sales specialist for the financial services company in the building, his mouth dropped. He insisted I follow him to his office, where he showed me a desk piled with sales literature from other 401k vendors. He went on to say he was lost in the sea of possibilities, couldn’t make heads or tails of any of it, and had no idea my company offered plans to his size business. After hearing a couple of details about my product, he enthusiastically introduced me to his HR person saying “sign whatever she needs you to and get this thing in place!” One pray rain journal entry and leisurely lunch gained me more ground than four months of hard work in chasing down prospects. The perfect client found me, was even more excited about my product than I was, and it was the quickest and smoothest sales process I could have expected. (This is undoubtedly what Abraham means when we’re told 17 seconds of pure positive thought equates to 200 hours of “work.”) Goofing off and writing about it as if it happened were my keys to success! To this day, I write in a pray rain journal every day, because what I write happens. Happy Healthy Kitties Page 56 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss After fostering multiple litters of orphan kittens year after year, I became very familiar with signs of the deadly distemper virus. Every time a kitten showed signs of it, the vet confirmed the diagnosis and it was dead within days. Over the years I’d developed a strong fear of this virus. When I considered myself LOA savvy, though, I decided to use my knowledge of deliberate creation to avoid the virus altogether. I had a new litter of kittens, straight from the shelter, who could easily have contracted the virus. But I wanted “happy healthy kittens,” not distemper kittens. So every time I walked in their room, I would repeat out loud with a big smile “happy healthy kitties!” But all the while I was repeating my happy healthy mantra, I was on the lookout for signs of distemper. Sure enough, within a few weeks I noticed one kitten oddly lingering over the water bowl. That was the first noticeable sign. Next would be vomiting, lack of appetite, diarrhea, then death. And it would come fast. I realized I manifested distemper by looking for signs of it even in the midst of my “happy healthy kitties” affirmation. (A good lesson in how all thoughts and feelings need to align with the affirmation in order for it to work!) I knew I could use LOA to fix what I’d created, and immediately started imagining everything the kittens could have instead of distemper. It wasn’t plausible to me that they didn’t have something, because the signs of illness were clearly there, and they were worsening. I just wanted it to be something they could survive. So I imagined bacteria in the digestive system, I imagined ringworm, I imagined upper respiratory virus, I imagined everything else I could think of that it might be that was survivable. And we went to the vet. Indeed, the vet confirmed these kittens did not have distemper. Rather, they had everything but distemper. Ear mites, gut bugs, ringworm, kitty colds, and more. Page 57 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss So maybe I overdid it. But guess what – they lived! They became happy healthy kitties after several weeks of therapy and expensive treatment. Happy ending was created for all by reversing negative thoughts, reaching for believable thoughts that felt better, visualizing what I wanted and using an easy feel-good mantra! Keeping our attention on what we want, especially when we catch ourselves in thoughts of what we don’t want, is the key to creating satisfying life experiences. This isn’t rocket science, although some of us make it out to be! Continually reach for the thoughts that feel better, remember what you want, and put your focus there. And you too will create outrageous life success with deliberate use of the Law of Attraction! Page 58 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss A Family Secret By Lori Brower Early this spring, our family watched The Secret together with varying results. Our 17 year-old son expressed the following day that the message had been so impactful, he had thought about it all day at school and talked about it with his friends. He struggled with how to put it into words the effect of the powerful concepts he had discovered. However, our 15 year-old daughter, Carly, felt quite persecuted by even having to watch it. “What did I do wrong to be forced to watch this? NINETY MINUTES? Are you kidding me? Is it over yet?” After much eye-rolling and heavy sighing, she half-heartedly admitted The Secret had been interesting. Several days later, I came home to find Carly at the kitchen table with several open text books and papers scattered around her. She was in obvious distress. When I asked her what was the matter, she burst into tears and sobbed. She tried to tell me but girls her age have a hard time crying and talking; her voice was high pitched and inaudible with a few coherent words flowing through and hands flying everywhere. I knew it was serious because Carly doesn’t cry often (unless she can’t curl her hair quite right for a dance, or something of that nature). I asked her to take a deep breath and try to explain. She was finally able to say, “I have three major end-of-term tests tomorrow. One in science, one in math and another in Spanish. I just went on-line and found out I flunked the quiz taken today in Spanish and I don’t even know what questions I missed or what to study for!” Another burst of sobs ensued. Now, Carly is an “A” student. She had to have been absolutely stunned to receive an “F” on a quiz. She was totally unable to determine how to study and Page 59 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss her confidence was entirely gone. I thought about this for a moment then asked her if she wanted me to help. Tearfully, she nodded her head and then I asked her if she would be willing to go through an experiment with me, even if it sounded silly to her. She nodded again, but this time with a questioning look. We went to her room downstairs, closed the blinds, turned on a soft light by her nightstand and climbed on top of her bed. I asked her to close her eyes and just listen to my voice. I softly stroked her eyebrow (it’s a mom thing I’ve done since she was a baby) and then began asking her a series of questions. What she was going to wear to school the next day? What was she going to have for breakfast? How was her attitude? I made sure she didn’t answer, “I WANT to feel confident” but had her make the affirmation, “I WILL feel confident”. Who was she going to sit by in her first class? Her second class? What was she feeling when the tests were handed out? We went through the entire day at school, slowly visualizing not only her physical activities and appearance, but her mindset, her attitude and her determination. She peeked at me several times through one eye with a slight grin acknowledging that she thought I was indeed a strange one. Before we were through, I reminded her that she had all the knowledge she needed to prepare for the tests in her head, but emotions and stress were blocking her ability to consciously connect. We made affirmations that when she went back upstairs to study, she would unconsciously know what to study. Everything would be a natural and instinctive process that she would trust. And off she went. The next day, Lee and I were attending a workshop in Park City. I received a call that afternoon from Carly and she was ECSTATIC! “Mom! You’ll never guess!”, she said. I tried by guessing she had passed her tests. “No, even better! I got 100% on my math!” “That’s fabulous, Carly!” I said. Page 60 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss “I also got 100% on my science test!” she added. “Oh my gosh, Carly, that’s terrific!” “Mom, you don’t understand… I’m the ONLY 9th grader in the whole school that got a 100%. The average for everyone else was only 68%!” “Holy cow! What about Spanish?” I asked. “EVERYONE flunked the quiz so the teacher didn’t have us take the test yet!” she responded. I said, “Carly, what does all this tell you?” anticipating she would acknowledge the power learned from The Secret. Without a single breath of hesitation, she proclaimed, “It tells me that I’m SMART!” I laughed and readily agreed with her and told her how proud I was of her efforts and attitude. Lee and I obviously embrace the spiritual power and awareness we all have in each of us. I am very grateful for the different learning opportunities we encounter. But, what I’ve come to learn and experience the past few months is that a secret can be good. It was a hidden treasure when discovered, changed my life for the better in every way. Words cannot express how challenging my financial life had been for the past thirteen years. I was led to begin a journey of transforming my “prosperity consciousness.” I memorized Scripture, attended church services, tithed and prayed until I was blue in the face -- and nothing, if any thing seemed to change. I was frustrated. My social life was null. My business was a chore to work in because I was constantly worried about money. I thought God had forgotten me. Even my family seemed to become a burden to me. Life had never been so hopeless and I was a girl with BIG dreams of de-throne-ing Oprah Winfrey! Deep inside I had a quest for something more. I was yearning for truth, something insightful in which I could make a connection. It would be so profound, so life-changing and powerful, that it would transform my life and the way I viewed it in ways nothing else ever has or could. I’ve read a LOT of self-help books over the past thirteen years. Many by renowned authors from the early 1900’s to the present. Sure, I received inspiration and encouragement to keep going, but something was missing. I knew there had to be a secret I didn’t know about. At the time, I had very little money to burn so I spent a lot of time internet surfing. I came across websites of some of the most powerful and influential teachers who seemed to have the lifestyle that I desired, but I had not yet figured Page 62 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss out what I was doing wrong in my life that kept money and success running from me! I was afraid, very afraid, but I knew there was light at the end of the tunnel. I truly believe that God sends the right message when we are really ready to receive it. Boy, was I ready! One of my favorite internet marketing teachers, Joe Vitale, mentioned in his newsletter that he would be in a film soon. One so powerful it would change peoples lives forever. I sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the debut of the film, but at the time of the release, I could not even afford to buy a copy. Oh, but a girl can dream! I continued with the intention of manifesting this life-changing, mind-altering DVD. Then one day, a few months ago, I was in a community forum completely off topic and connected with a lady who had an online business. I mentioned my favorite internet marketing teachers and she asked me if I had obtained the DVD I had heard so many good things about. She went on to say after watching this DVD, her business exploded and she manifested a brand new Mercedes Benz and the luxury lifestyle of her dreams. I tried not to be jealous. I really did! Of course, this made me even more anxious because I too wanted to manifest all my desires and I knew this DVD would be just what I needed to help make this happen. After all, every one was talking about how amazing the film was. I had to be in on the secret. Page 63 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Suddenly, I had the extra money to purchase a copy of “The Secret” DVD. I anxiously awaited its arrival. I thought I was going to implode! I had to see the DVD everyone was talking about. I had to get in on the action. What happened next truly blew me away. I closed the blinds, locked the doors and held on to my seat. “The Secret” DVD was everything I imagined it to be, and then some. I cried. Literally. I was overjoyed because finally, finally I knew a change had come. I had “The Secret” in my hands and in my heart and mind. I was one of the fortunate ones. After viewing “The Secret” DVD, I began to receive large sums of financial increase in my business. Clients would show up out of the blue without any solicitation or marketing on my part. I was thrilled. This was the moment I had been waiting for! It was so much fun to imagine again. To stay in a feel good place, knowing that when I did, good things would manifest in my life consistently. That I could do, be and have whatever I desire without a whole lot of effort, just consistent good feelings. I continue to see manifestations from the universal principles I discovered by watching “The Secret.” I know this is not the end, but only the beginning of wealth, happiness and success beyond reason. “The Secret” continues to make my life one I am excited to live! I just can’t keep “The Secret” to myself so now that I am in a place of abundance because of the message on “The Secret” DVD, I purchase copies for gifts and to also give to people who I know, once they discover “the secret,” life will become as good for them as it has for me. Page 65 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss A Six-year Old Masters the Law of Attraction By Colin Joss A few months ago, my six-year old daughter, Rowan, came home from school clutching a crumpled piece of paper. After my wife flattened it out, she saw it was a simple fill-in-the-blanks quiz. Breathless with excitement, Rowan explained, “Everyone got one. Miss Black says there’s a prize at the end of term.” Rowan grabbed a pencil and within ten minutes finished the quiz. As I stepped through the front door that evening, Rowan flew at me down the hall. After a take-your-breath-away hug, she babbled about the quiz. “Can we use” – she stroked the bridge of her nose – “so I can win the prize?” As a baby, I’d let Rowan explore and play with anything she touched – as long as it was safe. As a toddler, I’d whisper to her how wonderful her life was going to be. As a young girl, I taught her to ‘throw away’ negative thoughts and words. And when she came home in tears after her first few days at school, crying that she had no friends, I taught her the Law of Attraction. That night in bed, cosy in her Disney Princess pyjamas and with the blankets tucked under her chin, I asked her to close her eyes. To relax her, I stroked the bridge of her nose – a trick I’d learned from my wife, a kindergarten teacher. And as she relaxed, I whispered to her, painting a picture of her being in the school playground, of finding new friends and playing games. Within a few days, Rowan came home talking excitedly about Kirsty B and Kirsty M and Alice and… She’d discovered the power of the Law of Attraction. Page 66 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss But as we stood in the hallway with Rowan looking up at me, I wondered if the Law of Attraction would help her to win this prize. Before, I knew she’d make friends at school – most children do. But would the Law of Attraction bring her the prize she wanted? If it did, I knew powerful, positive effect it would have on her. But if it didn’t, would she ever want to use it again. All I could do was say ‘Ok, we’ll start tonight.’ And we did. Night after night, she’d lie in bed and I’d stroke the bridge of her nose. With her eyes closed, I’d ask her to imagine sitting in class surrounded by her friends. Miss Black, her teacher, stands up and says ‘Boys and girls, it’s time to announce the winner of the nursery rhyme quiz.’ I told Rowan to feel the excitement and the anticipation, knowing she’d won the quiz. She’d smile and sometimes giggle. ‘And the winner of the quiz,’ Miss Black continued, ‘is Rowan Joss.’ In bed, Rowan would break into a huge smile and tremble with excitement. Next, she’d imagine walking up to the front of the class and being presented with the prize. I asked her to imagine holding it and seeing the smiles on all her friends’ faces. And she’d imagine how proud she felt. And a strange thing happened at the end of the school year. In front of the whole school, and out of over a hundred boys and girls, Rowan was announced as the winner of the prize. The prize? A thin, paperback book costing less than $5. But to my daughter, and to me, it’s priceless. Each time we read the book, it’s a physical reminder of the power of the Law of Attraction. By Craig Perrine Do you truly attract EVERYTHING in your life? Is it your thoughts that determine what shows up? Do you truly get everything you want? Whenever I talk about this with someone who is new to the concepts behind The Law Of Attraction they inevitably get a puzzled look on their face. They always get stuck on the ‘dark side’ of attraction. Who would attract tragedy into their lives? Who would attract suffering and strings of ‘bad luck’? If we’re so darn powerful at ‘creating our lives’ why don’t we just attract the good stuff? Then, the skeptics simply dismiss ‘Law of Attraction’ due to the apparent contradiction. Perhaps it’s like what happened to Dan Aykroyd’s character in the 80’s movie classic “Ghostbusters”. At climactic moment the ‘Ghostbusters’ were facing an ancient deity who had come to destroy everyone on earth using whatever the Ghostbusters imagined as the vehicle for their own destruction. Whatever they imagined would be what would destroy them. So, Bill Murray’s character told his buddies to clear their minds. Instead, Dan Aykroyd imagined the ‘Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man’, and sure enough, a giant monster in the form of the Marshmallow Man appeared and came to attack them. Page 69 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss I love that example because it illustrates how I feel when I attract something I don’t like into my life. Dan Aykroyd’s character couldn’t help his imagination from imagining something from his childhood and that is pretty much how it goes in real life. What everyone seems to get hung up on is that we attract what we ‘want’. No one would want to choose their own destruction or suffering. But don’t dismiss the Law of Attraction just yet. It’s hard to watch the news and see starving children, wars, terrorism, and drug addiction, to name but a few things that it is hard to imagine anyone attracting on purpose. The way I look at it is that we don’t get what we ‘want’ most or desire, but rather what we ‘expect.’ Sadly, as children many are born into situations that quickly form a very negative experience of life in this world. Neglect, suffering, deprivation, and abuse are among the first memories for far too many. And, as life goes on, the parameters of what is possible in life is determined by what they have witnessed and believe is real. Like a fish in a fish bowl who only knows the contents of its own bowl, we only are aware of the sum total of our experience in this life. If what we witness is child abuse, poverty, crime, drugs, and war, then that is what we expect life to continue to be about. It takes a vision of a different life to change that view because the worst part about expectation is that it guides our future as surely as a compass. Perhaps you have heard that lottery winners, even folks who won tens of millions of dollars (and more) end up more broke and worse off just two years later. By conventional wisdom, once someone has millions of dollars they should be happy, right? Page 70 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss Winning the lottery is synonymous with miracle in our culture because it supposedly is the only avenue for your average person to become mega rich. The problem is that winning the lottery is very much like taking a fish out of its little bowl and sticking it in a very large aquarium. Without having had time to adjust to the change, the sudden emersion into a whole new world is disorienting and the only reality that the little fish can relate to is the small bowl it was from. Consequently, the fish will take actions to return to the ‘comfort’ of the familiar. In this way, the people who win lotteries tend to make the same ‘poverty mentality’ decisions with their money as when they were ‘broke’ and soon the money is gone and their lives are actually worse off. In contrast, someone who by whatever means comes to expect that life will get better and better and that it is possible to attract whatever we want will have a whole different experience. Someone who expects to attract wealth and takes actions consistent with those expectations will more likely keep whatever higher level of success they attain. That’s because they would receive money and success as the result of what they expected to achieve. Do you think it is an accident that Tiger Woods became a champion golfer when his father groomed him to be that from around the age of three? What else would he expect to become? Similarly, a young boy from the mean streets will hardly surprise anyone if he ends up in jail because that is truly what everyone expected of him. We only know our own path through life and our understanding at the conscious level is limited to what we can imagine and remember about our own journey. This is why people who read, especially those who read biographies and autobiographies of successful people are more likely expect to achieve their Page 71 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss dreams. People who succeeded, often against all odds, are in their ‘expectation’ of what’s possible because they’ve read real life stories. By reading this book your own mind will forever be expanded to the possibility that you can attract the life you desire because everyone who contributed has shared their experience with you. Along my journey to success I have discovered that I expected to struggle. I expected life to throw me curve balls and I expected to have to pull off miracles to succeed. As I look back and see where and how I got those ideas in my head, I have to laugh at how I made decisions that brought the roller coaster of success and failure into my reality. The more I realize that I am in fact simply creating a life that matches my expectations the faster I rise in my success because I’m keeping my eyes open for anything that appears to be a negative expectation. I absolutely believe that you, me, attract what we expect according to the Law of Attraction… whether that is the money you always dreamed of or whether you create your own nightmare is really up to what you expect to happen. My goal right now is to simply get you to become aware of what your expectations are. If you’re not getting what you ‘want’ right now in life, just know you ARE getting what you expected to happen. Want to change your expectations to match what you truly desire? Look back at your life and see what you’ve created so far. When you find negative and painful things ask yourself how those events match early beliefs and experiences you had when you were even younger. If you are open to seeing the patterns you’ll find that things that happen repeatedly to you in one form or another are simply your own expectations coming to life. Page 72 Copyright © 2006 Colin Joss – All Rights Reserved www.colinjoss.com Inspired Attraction by Colin Joss It will be a big help to simply become aware of this process for you will have a hard time purposely attracting negative things once you fully accept your own creation of them. What you need most is to feed your mind with new expectations. You are already on that journey because you are reading these words right now. In addition I would suggest that you pick up books like The Attractor Factor by Dr. Joe Vitale and watch The Secret, a movie all about The Law of Attraction. Read biography and autobiographies of people you admire and learn to expect that you too can create your own world as you choose. Just know that many of the people you will read about struggled, scratched and clawed their way through adversity and painful obstacles on their way to becoming ‘written about.’ Getting what you want and succeeding doesn’t need to be any hard or any less easy than you imagine – and what you imagine is guided by what you allow yourself to expect is even possible. So let me plant a seed: The limitations to what happiness you have is within yourself and you are like the fish in the bowl who isn’t aware of what lies beyond the glass. The good news is that unlike the fish, you can jump out of your bowl and explore the amazing world outside of what you’ve experienced so far in your life. So, not only is anything you can imagine possible but a whole lot that you have never even dreamed of is, too. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to simply allow yourself to expect to get what you truly want and to expect it to be easy and fun.
