"INSTALLATION OF THREE-GANG SWITCH WIRING SYSTEM"
INTRODUCTION:
ON APRIL 18, 2025, WE CONDUCTED OUR PROJECT FOR MIDTERMS IN UTILITIES 1
AT MAGSAYSAY ST. BAGUMBAYAN, SIMPLY AS INSTALLATION OF THREE- GANG SWITCH
WIRING SYSTEM IN OUR SUBJECT OF BASIC ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING WITHIN OUR
TEACHER ENGR, CARL JOSEPH DELIN. THE PROCEDURE BEGINS WITH:
TOOLS AND MATERIALS USED:
IN PERFORMING A THREE GANG SWITCH WIRING INSTALLATION, SEVERAL
ESSENTIAL MATERIALS AND TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO BE ENSURE THAT IT WAS A SAFE AND
EFFICIENT SET UP. THE MAIN MATERIALS INCLUDE:

3 LIGHT BULB
1 FLIES
1JUNCTION BOX
1 UTILITY BOX
1 CIRCUIT BREAKER (20A)
3 BULB HOLDER

PROCEDURE:
PREPARE THE PLYWOOD:
AS TO BEGIN MARK DANIEL USED TO FIND SOME EXCESS OF PLYWOODS IN THERE
BACKDOOR SO THAT WE COULD NOT BUY AND TO BE COST SAVINGS. TRAMING SOME
EXCESS IN OUR PLYWOOD SO THAT IT WOULD BE CLEAN, AFTER THAT AIMEE BALUNTONG
ET AL PAINT THE PLY WOOD.
PLANNING AND LAYOUT:
AFTER THE PAINT WAS DRY WE APPLY OUR THREE GANG SWITCH SETUP,
IDENTIFYING THE NEUTRAL WHICH HAS A MARK ON WIRING FOR EACH LIGHT FIXTURE.
PREPARE OF WIRES:
THE ELECTRICAL WIRES (NEUTRAL) WERE CUT TO THE REQUIRED LENGTHS. WERE
THE INSULATION WAS STRIPPED CAREFULLY USING A WIRE STRIPPER, EXPOSING SOME
COPPER FOR SECURE CONNECTIONS.
WIRING THE SWITCHES:
SO FOR THE LINE (LIVE) WIRE IT WAS CONNECTED TO COMMON TERMINALS IN THE
THREE SWITCHES WERE EACH SWITCH OUTPUT WAS WIRED TO A SEPERATED LIGHT
BULB OF THE 20A CIRCUIT BREAKER, THIS SUPPLIES POWER TO ALL THREE SWITCHES.
NEUTRAL WIRE CONNECTION FROM ALL THREE LIGHT FIXTURES WERE BEEN JOINED
TOGETHER AND THEN CONNECTED TO THE NEUTRAL BUS BAR FOR COMPLETING THE
PATH OF THE CURRENT.
TESTING
AFTER ALL CONNECTIONS WERE MADE, WE INSPECTED THE CIRCUIT FOR ANY
LOOSE CONNECTIONS OR EXPOSED WIRES.
THIS ACTIVITY TAUGHT US THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCURACY, UNDERSTANDING AND
TEAMWORK. IT ALSO MADE US TO REALIZE HOW SMALL MISTAKES LIKE CONNECTING
WIRE TO THE WRONG TERMINAL CAN AFFECT THE WHOLE SETUP.
WHEN EVERYTHING WAS WIRED AND DOUBLED CHECKED, THE MOMENT OF TRUTH CAME:
WE TURN ON THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. WE HELD OUR BREATH AS WE FLIPED THE FIRST
SWITCH AND THE LIGHT CAME ON! THE SECOND AND THIRD WORKED PERFECTLY TOO.
CONCLUSION:
COMPLETING THE SETUP OF THREE-GANG SWITCH WASN'T JUST ABOUT
CONNECTING WIRES IT WAS ABOUT BUILDING OUR CONFIDENCE AND UNDERSTANDING
HOW SOMETHING WE USE EVERY DAY ACTUALLY WORKS. AT FIRST THE PROCESS
SEEMED A BIT INTIMIDATING. “NUONG NAKITA MO SA IMAGINATION MONG BIGLA KANG
SUMAKSES PERO STEP BY STEP PALA TALAGA BAGO KA SUMAKES”. EVERY SWITCH
THAT SUCCESFULLY TURNED ON A LIGHT FELT LIKE A SMALL VICTORY. THIS
EXPERIENCED NOT ONLY STRENGTHENED OUR SKILLS BUT ALSO BUILT OUR
CONFIDENCE AND TEAMWORK FOR FUTURE PROJECTS IN THE FIELD.
