INTRODUCTION
The project focuses on performing regression analysis using data from the Malawi
National Football Team Matches dataset available on Kaggle. The dataset provides
comprehensive details on matches including opponent scores, venue, and results.
Regression analysis helps identify the relationships between these variables and the
overall team performance.
OBJECTIVE
To study the impact of Venue and Opponent Score on the performance of the Malawi
football team using regression analysis.
METHODOLOGY
The data was collected from the Kaggle dataset: Malawi National Football Team
Matches. Regression analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel. Variables
considered include Venue (Home or Away) and Opponent Score. The dependent
variable was the match result.
ANOVA ANALYSIS
An ANOVA analysis was performed to check the statistical significance of the
independent
variables.

The R-squared value of 0.124 indicates that the model explains approximately
12.4% of the variation in match results.
RESULT
From the analysis, it is evident that venue significantly impacts match outcomes
while opponent score does not. Home games show a strong positive effect on the
team’s performance.
CONCLUSION
Regression analysis based on the Malawi football dataset indicates that match venue
is a critical determinant of success. This analysis can help in planning strategies for
future matches.
