General Rules ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 1.1 Overview LKE-VS armored metal-enclosed switchgear (hereinafter referred to as LKE-VS switch cabinet) applies to three-phase AC single bus bar and single bus bar segmented power system with the function of “Five Preventions”. The removable parts of the switch cabinet can be assembled with components such as vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) and vacuum contactor, etc. 1.2 Standards and Specifications The switch cabinet complies with the standard of IEC298. The enclosure protection level of switch cabinet is IP4X and the protection level turns into IP2X when the door of circuit breaker compartment is open and the truck is moved away. During system installation and running, all the relevant IEC standards and national and local safety regulations shall be observed and it is also necessary to consider the relevant information provided by LKE. 1.3 Working Conditions 1.3.1 Normal Working Conditions The normal working conditions of LKE-VS switch cabinet are as follows: Indoor environment temperature: Maximum temperature Daily mean no larger than Minimum temperature +40°C +35°C -15°C Indoor environment humidity: Daily mean relative humidity Monthly mean relative humidity Altitude of installation site Seismic intensity: 95% and below 90% and above 1000 m and below No larger than 8 degree The LKE-VS switch cabinet should be used in locations free of fire, explosion, serious pollution and chemical corrosion. 1.3.2 Special Working Conditions It is a must to consult the manufacturer for application in any special working conditions. A consensus in terms of special working conditions shall be reached between the manufacturer and user. • The impact of reduction in the dielectric strength of the air on insulation level has been considered when the altitude of installation site is over 1000 m. • If the environment temperature exceeds the limit value, it is a must to consider equalizing or limiting current capacity for the design of main bus bar and branch bus bar. Installing a ventilation device in the cabinet is favorable to heat dissipation of the switch cabinet. 1.3.3 Precautions If the humidity of switch cabinet operation site is relatively high, temperature fluctuation speed is relatively rapid and temperature fluctuation range is relatively large, then the switch cabinet running in this condition tends to have condensation phenomena. Therefore, the user should keep the heater running full time when switch cabinet is running or on the standby! However, it will not be necessary to run the heater while running in high-current. Structure Overview of Switch Cabinet ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 3.1 Basic Structure (Figure 3/1) The basic structure of switch cabinet is that it comprises of a fixed cabinet and VCB. See Figure 3/1 for the switch cabinet and its electrical elements installed. Inlet-line cabinet or outlet-line cabinet are basic configuration schemes for switch cabinet together with other derivative schemes, for example, bus coupler cabinet or measuring cabinet, etc. In addition, there are configuration schemes such as fixed load switch, vacuum contactor truck, isolating truck, etc. The cabinet can be installed against the wall or face-to-face. Please refer to the order documents for structure details and installation equipments in the cabinet. 3.2 Enclosures and Clapboards The enclosure and clapboard of the switch cabinet is made of high quality steel plate with highly protective paint sprayed on their external surfaces. Thus, the enclosure and clapboard have strong oxidation and corrosion resistance nature and their rigidity and mechanical robustness are higher than common low-carbon steel plate. The tops of three high pressure chambers are installed with pressure relief plate. In case of an internal fault, the pressure in high pressure chamber would rise up and it will break through the pressure relief plate to release since the cabinet door is securely sealed. Adjacent switch cabinets are isolated by respective side board. After putting the switch cabinets together, the air buffer layer still existed which may prevent the switch cabinets from pronging and melted by fault electric arc. Low-voltage compartment A is assembled into an independent compartment separated with highpressure area. The clapboards isolate the circuit breaker compartment B, CT and cable compartment E so that even if circuit breaker truck is moved away (The isolation valve will automatically turn off at this time), it is able to prevent the operator from touching the electrification parts of bus bar compartment C and cable compartment E. 3.3 Compartments in the Switch Cabinet Circuit breaker compartment (See Attached Figures 3/1, 3/2 and 3/3) Circuit breaker truck is installed in circuit breaker compartment B with track. The truck can move between running position and test/isolation position. When the truck moves from running position to test/ isolation position, the valve can cover stationary contact automatically; otherwise it can open stationary contact when moving reverse. The truck can be operated when the door of switch cabinet is closed. Through the inspection window on the door, it is able to see the position of the truck, ON (circuit breaker closing)/OFF (circuit breaker opening) buttons on the truck, closing and opening of indicator and charging/releasing status indicator. Circuit breaker truck The truck can be moved manually. The structure of the truck is assembled by steel plate with circuit breaker and other equipments installed on the top. The contact arm with spring contact system is installed on the pillar of the circuit breaker. When the truck is inserted into the running position, the contact arm has the function of electrical connection. The signal, protection and control lines between the truck and the switch cabinet are connected by a control line plug. The truck is fixed at the test/isolation position as soon as it is inserted into the switch cabinet, and meanwhile it is reliably connected with the Earthing system of the switch cabinet. The position of truck is able to be seen through inspection window or electrical truck position indicator installed on low pressure chamber panel. Structure Overview of Switch Cabinet ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 Bus bar compartment The bus bar is introduced from one switch cabinet to another switch cabinet and it is fixed by branch bus bar. The rectangular branch bus bar is directly connected to the main bus bar with a bolt without any connection clamp. All bus bars and branch bus bars are covered with heat-shrinkable tubes. Cable compartment (Figure 3/1) CT and Earthing switch are installed at the back of cable compartment. When the door of cable compartment opens, there is enough room for the worker to enter into the cabinet and to install cables. The bottom panel covered at the entrance of cable is slotted and detachable which is convenient to site operation. The opening of variable-diameter seal ring on bottom panel passing through primary and secondary cable shall match with the installed cable to prevent small animals getting into it. For cable trench high in humidity, it is suggested that the switch cabinet shall be airproofed with fireproofing mud and epoxy resin. Low voltage chamber (Figure 3/1) Secondary elements of switch cabinet are installed in low pressure chamber and on the door. Control line trunking has ample space and cover board. The line trunking on the left is used to introduce and educe the wires between switch cabinets; while the line trunking on the right is used to lay internal wires in switch cabinet. The traversing hole for control line on side board of low pressure chamber is used to connect with control power supply. 3.4 Interlock/Protection against Mishandling A series of interlocking devices are provided to prevent dangerous situations and mishandling which might lead to serious consequences fundamentally, thus protecting both operators and the switch cabinet. The functions of interlocking devices are as follows: ➢ When circuit breaker and Earthing switch are in the OPEN position, the truck can be moved from the test/isolation position to running position. In this state, it is able to move reversely (mechanical interlocking) as well. ➢ Only when the truck is fully in the test or running position, the circuit breaker can be closed (mechanical and electric interlocking). ➢ When the truck is in running position, the plug of control wiring plug is locked so that it cannot be pull out and the middle door cannot be opened (mechanical interlocking). ➢ Only when the truck is in the test/isolation position or moved out, the middle door can be opened and the Earthing switch is permitted to be closed (mechanical interlocking). ➢ When the Earthing switch is closed, the truck cannot be moved from the test / isolation position to running position (mechanical interlocking). ➢ When PT truck is in the running position, the lower cabinet door cannot be opened. Instead, it can be opened only when the truck moves backward to the test position. ➢ 6 Some additional interlocking devices can be assembled on the truck and/or Earthing switch operating mechanism, such as latching electromagnet. The user should forward the requirement at the time of placing an order. Transportation and Storage ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 4.1 Delivery Conditions In addition to checking in accordance with the order, the assembled switch cabinets shall go through a delivery test in accordance with relevant provisions of IEC 298 so as to verify their correctness in structure and function. VCB, bus bar, fasteners and accessories are packed separately. 4.2 Packaging The packaging of switch cabinet may be adjusted according to the request of specific conditions, such as navigation packaging or no packaging. Especially marine transport, the switch cabinet must be sealed with plastic film bags even though it is packed in a container and appropriate desiccant shall be put into the package to guard against damp. 4.3 Transportation Generally, the transport unit is formed by a single switch cabinet. In exceptional cases, the transport unit can be formed by a switch cabinet group or switch cabinets installed back-to-back. Switch cabinets should be transported vertically. It is necessary to adopt relevant safety measures to protect personnel and equipments. The loading work must be carried out only with the following tools: ➢ Forklift or manual hydraulic car. 4.4 Delivery and Intermediate Storage The consignee is supposed to (but not limited to) carry out the following duties when the switch cabinet arrives at the scene: ➢ Open the box to perform acceptance inspection and check whether the spare parts are complete as listed on the packing list. ➢ Check whether the delivered goods are complete and free from damage. Check whether the labels, conformity certificates are complete and whether there is an instruction manual. If there is any doubt, please open the box and check. In case of intermediate storage, some desiccants shall be put in and reseal the box. ➢ Make a detailed record for any shortages, defects or transportation damages and inform related authorities in time. Please note that the goods for intermediate storage should be placed at locations without any damage to switch cabinets and installation materials. ➢ The storeroom shall be dry and well ventilated. ➢ The room temperature shall not be lower than -25°C. ➢ No other hazardous environmental impact shall exist. ➢ The switch cabinet shall be stored vertically. ➢ The switch cabinet cannot be piled up. ➢ The package shall not be removed or damaged. ➢ Un-packaged switch cabinets shall be loosely covered with plastic films to guard against stains. Good ventilation must be maintained for corrosion protection. ➢ Check the condensation regularly on time before installation. Filed Installation of Switch Cabinet ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 In order to guarantee correct installation sequence and highest installation quality, the field installation of switch cabinet shall be carried out by specially trained technicians or you may entrust our company to send engineers for field guidance and supervision. 5.1 General Requirements for Installation Site Civil engineering in the distribution room should be equipped with lighting and power supply for installation and ventilation devices after project completion and passing through acceptance inspection. The distribution room should be dry, clean, well-ventilated and the doors can be closed. Necessary preparative works such as wall-through hole, cable trench, etc. shall be done in advance. Cable trench should be constructed according to specific requirements in each cable work area. The schematic diagram 5/5 is for your reference. Reference the sketch map 5/5. The height of ceiling in distribution room shall not be less than 3000 mm. Make sure to satisfy the indoor work conditions of switch cabinets as stipulated in IEC, including the indoor temperature conditions. 5.2 Basic Plane Layout Scheme of Distribution Room Considered in the way of double-face maintenance, LKE-VS switch cabinet sets aside appropriate installation and maintenance channel between back cover board of switch cabinet and partition and between both sides of switch cabinet and partition. Channels of enough width should be set aside between the switch cabinet and wall in order to achieve convenient installation, running and maintenance. If the switch cabinets are arranged face-to-face in two rows, the distance of switch cabinets between two rows is advised to be not less than 2500 mm. 5.3 Foundation It is relatively appropriate to install the switch cabinet on the foundation framework or elevated auxiliary floor of distribution room floor. The laying of foundation shall conform to relevant regulations, especially the allowable tolerance of straightness and flatness, which is a precondition for perfect installation of switch cabinets. The construction of switch cabinet foundation must comply with relevant provisions in electric power construction and technical specifications for acceptance inspection. 5.3.1 Floorboard of Distribution Room as the Foundation When the amount of switch cabinets is small and the weight is relatively light, they can be directly installed on the floor of distribution room. The floor of installation location shall be very flat and with enough carrying capacity. If necessary, insert proper spacer under the switch cabinet while installing and adjusting. 5.3.2 Foundation Frame (Figure 5/1) Installation on a Concrete Floor As shown in Figure 5/1, the laying of switch cabinet foundation framework requires adopting the method of secondary grouting and it shall be done after completion of civil construction. The facture and laying of foundation framework is recommended to be carried out by a electric installation unit. The foundation framework of specific project shall be based on the blueprint drawn according to manufacturer requests. At the time of civil construction, the basic elevation of switch cabinet should consider reserving the height of foundation framework channel steel with a small margin as shown in Figure 5/3. The pre-burial of anchorage steel plate shall follow the direction of framework width with internals at 1m to 5 m. 10 Standard Operating Instructions (2-Incoming VCB Panel with 1 VCB Panel as Coupler) Standard Operation Instruction - brochure 1.indd 10 1/7/14 10:53 AM 5. Filed Installation of Switch Cabinet ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric (cont’d) Denmark Technology Since 1893 The foundation framework is a frame structure made up of channel steel and angle steel welding. As for the basic dimension requirements for framework, please refer to Figure 5/3. No mandatory requirement is set on the height of channel steel and No. [5 or No. [8 channel steel can be adopted. The edgewise of longitudinal channel steel on foundation framework shall be consistent with the dimension of switch cabinet body framework. After civil construction is completed, the electric installation unit shall carry out foundation framework installation over the manufactured foundation framework by placing it on the foundation plane. Adjust it with steel shim. Calibrate the framework dimensions on horizontal and vertical direction with steel band tape and gradienter. The horizontal error shall be no more than 1 mm and the total error shall be no more than 3 mm. Top surface of foundation framework should be 3 mm to 5 mm higher than the final floor elevation. Framework elevation is not allowed to be lower than final floor elevation. After calibration, both the framework and adjusting steel shim shall be welded onto the pre-buried anchorage steel plate. The final step is to perform secondary grouting so at to finish the pre-burial of foundation framework as shown in Figure 5/1 and 5/3. During the installation stage, the foundation framework should not be impacted or pressed. Necessary acceptance inspection procedures must be done before foundation framework anchoring and secondary grouting. 5.4 Field Installation Using standard bolts with their strength grade no less than 8.8 and the corresponding tightening torques are as follows: Bolt 6 8 10 12 Tightening torque 10 25 50 85 Note: No lubricating oil shall be applied. Send the switch cabinet to preliminary installation position according to its arrangement diagram. After the switch cabinets are all connected together, fix it on the foundation framework with foot screws or by welding. Move the switch cabinet to foundation framework, adjust related dimensions on horizontal and vertical direction and then joint two switch cabinets together. The jointing procedures are as follows: Cabinet joint is to connect the left and right switch cabinets together with bolts. It is only necessary to align the two switch cabinets at the time of field installation. Introduce the bolt from the left of switch cabinet through the joint hole and fix it onto the adjacent cabinet with a nut. Firstly, put 10 bolts in place, screw in the nut by hand and then fasten them with a wrench one by one. It is easy to operate. Repeat the above said procedures to joint all switch cabinets one after another. At last, install all back cover boards and control cable trough cover boards back to their home positions. ➢ Clean the bus bar with clean and dry soft cloth. Check whether there is any damage on insulation. Clean grease and attached dirt in accordance with Section 7.2. ➢ Check all the accessories used in bus bar installation before installing bus bar. ➢ Please note: while jointing switch cabinets with different width, the length of three phase bus bars is different. Please take special notice while checking bus bars! ➢ Before installing the main bus bar, the board at the back of switch cabinet shall be removed. Please keep these boards and screws properly. ➢ The connection of branch bus bar and main bus bar should apply hexagon bolts with high strength. ➢ Generally, the installation of main bus bar starts from the left-most switch cabinet and connection is done toward right one after another. Firstly, install the bus bars with the lowest phase one by one, set bolts, washers and nuts in place and fasten them by hand. When the bus bars with the lowest phase are all installed in place, tighten each bolt in sequence with a bushing wrench and a torque wrench. The tightening torque of main bus bar bolt is 50 Nm. It is recommended to make marks on the bolts after checking with a torque wrench so as to avoid omission. Filed Installation of Switch Cabinet ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 5.5 Connection of Power Cables and Control Cables The connection of cables must be done according to the local cable construction area. The following procedures are for your reference. ➢ Lead in power cables and strip off at the predetermined length. ➢ Install the connection terminals according to the instruction manual of manufacturer. ➢ Open circular holes of proper dimension on damping seal rings based on the diameter of cable cores. ➢ Lead the cable through bottom board and damping seal ring, connect the terminal, insert the heat-shrinkable tube and connect it to the cable connection point. Heat the heat-shrinkable tube to make it shrink and cover the exposed part of the cable core. ➢ Install the bottom board, cover the damping seal ring securely and clamp the cable with a cable clamp tightly. ➢ Send the control cable into the Low-voltage compartment. ➢ Strip off the cable box and fasten the cable on the top of cable trough. Rotate the frame of terminal board upward and lead the control cable core into Low-voltage compartment A. ➢ Connect the control line to the corresponding terminal on terminal board according to the wiring diagram. ➢ Lead the control line to the adjacent switch cabinet via the through-hole at the left and right of Low-voltage compartment. 5.6 Connection of Ground Copper Bar ➢ Connect the ground copper bars of adjacent switch cabinets and make them form into a unified Earthing main bus bar. At the time of switch cabinet delivery, the short connection copper bar used for interconnection has already been fixed at the right of main ground copper bar temporarily. The interconnection copper bar shall be removed at installation, lead it through the oblong hole reserved between cabinets and fix it on main ground copper bar between two adjacent cabinets. The connection of the switch cabinet main Earthing main bus bar with distribution room Earthing grid can be realized by connecting cables. The Earthing cable shall be introduced from the control cable reserved hole of switch cabinet and be connected with ground copper bar through connection terminals. 5.7 End of Installation Work 12 ➢ Check whether the paint on switch cabinet is damaged or not. If so, it must be repaired (see Section 7.3.1). ➢ Check bolt connection, especially the bus bar at field installation and bolt of Earthing system. They must be all tightened. ➢ Clean the switch cabinet carefully. ➢ Reinstall the cover board removed during installation and wiring. Filed Installation of Switch Cabinet ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 ➢ Insert the circuit breaker truck into the switch cabinet: take the circuit breaker truck out of the package box, and place it on the maintenance cart, pull the handle on the circuit breaker truck inward to withdraw the positioning pin, and correctly position the circuit breaker truck before leaving the handle so that the circuit breaker truck is locked on the maintenance cart; push the maintenance cart to the cabinet but do not directly push the circuit breaker truck. The maintenance cart must be pushed slowly with care to prevent that the circuit breaker truck is vibrated or collapsed by any barrier, tongued or grooved point on the floor. Further adjust the working platform to a suitable height by adjusting the four adjusting wheels on the maintenance cart, align the hole to the positioning pin, and insert the maintenance cart into the cabinet and lock it. Hold the handle of circuit breaker truck by both hands, pull it inward to fix the positioning pin, and meanwhile push the circuit breaker truck into the cabinet, leave the handle after it is positioned correctly, and then lock the circuit breaker truck on the cabinet. Hold the locking handle at the front of maintenance cart, pull it leftward to detach it from the cabinet, and then move the maintenance cart away. ➢ Check whether the interlocking devices are flexible or not. Re-apply lubricant where necessary. Operation of Switch Cabinet ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 The relevant running and operation procedures shall be performed only by trained technicians who know well of switch cabinets, attach great importance to related standards and requirements of IEC, other safety regulations ruled by specialized agencies and local authorities, work regulations and operational instructions. 6.1 Start-up 6.1.1 Preparation The following work shall be done before turning on the high-voltage power supply: ➢ The technique data marked on the switch cabinet nameplate shall be carefully checked to agree with the technique data required by running electric power system. ➢ Check elements such as circuit breaker, removable units, insulating parts, etc. ➢ Check whether the connection of the main Earthing bus bar and the Earthing conductor of the transformer substation outside the cabinet is reliable. ➢ Check whether the surface paint is damaged. If so, repair it according to the guidance in Section 7.3. ➢ Remove all the surplus materials, irrelevant objects and tools inside the cabinet. ➢ Clean the switch cabinet, insulating parts and the sealing strip inside the cabinet door with clean and dry soft cloth free from waste silk. Remove the adhesive dirt and grease according to Section 7.2. ➢ Check mechanical and electrical interlocking validity without exerting a force. ➢ Adjust the protective device of switch cabinet and test its function by using test equipment. ➢ Offer trainings to local operators in terms of basic details on normal operation of the switch cabinet. ➢ Check the switch status of running preparations and device electrical system. ➢ According to the regulations on responsibility, it might be necessary to check the following devices near the switch cabinet: power cable, auxiliary cable, auxiliary power supply, distant control system, Earthing system, distribution room device, distribution room status, etc. 6.1.2 Start-up ➢ Turn up the heater 48-hour in advance according to the regulations of service conditions. ➢ Comply with all relevant safety regulations. Ensure that the circuit-breakers and load switches inside cabinet are in the OFF position. ➢ Dismantle the Earthing lines and shorting stubs within the dangerous work area. ➢ Energize the feeder cables. ➢ Energize the switch cabinet based on normal procedures and observe the signal and indicator. ➢ The phase sequence should be checked when there are several inlet-lines and several switch cabinet groups. (see Section 6.3.2). ➢ Carry out all measurements and check all functions by making use of the high-voltage power supply energized. ➢ Pay attention to all abnormal conditions. Operation of Switch Cabinet ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 6.2 Operation of Switch Cabinet All operations shall be performed when the switch cabinet doors are closed. 6.2.1 Circuit Breaker Truck Manually insert the truck from test/isolation position to running position. ➢ Insert the control line plug into control line socket. ➢ Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the OFF position (switched off if it is not in the OFF position). ➢ Insert the handle into the socket of the lead screw mechanism. ➢ Turn the lever clockwise until it reaches the end (about 20 turns). At this time, the truck is in operation position. ➢ Observe the position indicator. ➢ Draw out the handle without turning to prevent the truck from moving out and circuit-breaker from out of proper position which could affect indication and control. Notes: The truck is not allowed to stay at any intermediate places between the running position and the test/isolation position. Manually remove the truck from the running position to the test/isolation position. Operate reversely to move into running position. 6.2.2 Circuit Breaker For detailed operation instructions, please refer to the operation instructions of circuit breaker. Spring energy storage ➢ The energy storage process can be completed automatically in terms of circuit breakers equipped with charging motor. If the charging motor is broken, manual charging shall be performed. ➢ In terms of circuit breakers equipped with a manual charging unit, insert the charging lever into socket, turn it clockwise until the charging status is displayed. When the charging status is reached, charging mechanism will trip automatically and the charging lever can not be turned any longer. OFF (Opening) and ON (Closing) of circuit breaker Operate local or distant control button and observe the indicator of circuit breaker off and on. The counter for number of operations will add 1 automatically after each cycle of circuit breaker operation. The Earthing switch can only be operated only when the truck is in test/isolation position. The opening and closing of Earthing switch is allowed only when the switch cabinet door is closed and in the unlocked status. Manual opening and closing ➢ Press the sliding plate to the handle hole bottom of Earthing switch. (When the Earthing switch is closed, then it is already in this position.) ➢ Insert the operating lever of Earthing switch. ➢ Turn the lever clockwise to close Earthing switch; turn the lever counterclockwise to open Earthing switch. The turn angle is approximately 180° and the action should be linked up while turning. ➢ Observe the mechanical/electrical position indicator of Earthing switch. Remove the lever. The sliding plate remains in opening position when the Earthing switch is closed. Operation of Switch Cabinet ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 6.2.4 Door of Cable Compartment In case that the cable compartment door is installed with a mechanical or electrical forced locking device, the door can be opened only when the Earthing switch is closed. And only after the door is closed can the Earthing switch be opened. The operation procedures are as follows: 1. Move the circuit-breaker truck to test position or out of the switch cabinet. 2. Turn the Earthing switch to closing position. 3. Open cable compartment door after releasing the door lock. 4. Close cable compartment door after completing examination and repairing. 5. Turn the Earthing switch to closing position. 6. Push the circuit breaker truck to test position or operating position. 6.2.5 Electrical/Mechanical Indication/Monitoring (Figure 3/1) While running the switch cabinet, observe all running data and status indicators within the secondary area. Maintenance ® Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 7.1 Overview Maintenance is carried out for maintaining fault-free operation and achieving the longest service life of switch cabinet. The following procedures shall be carried out. Inspection——Confirmation of actual running status Servicing——Measures to maintain the specified running status Repairing——Measures to restore the specified running status Notes: Maintenance work can only be performed by fully trained technicians. They know well of switch cabinets, attach great importance to IEC and other related safety regulations ruled by technical agencies and other important guidance. It is recommended to contact our service staff for assistant process when the switch cabinet needs repairing. The inspection and servicing intervals (maintenance cycle) for some equipment/elements (e.g. wearout parts) are determined by running time, operation frequency and times of short-circuit fault, etc. The maintenance cycles for other elements are determined by operation mode in specific situations, load level and environmental effects (including pollution and corrosive air). This instruction book and operation guide for circuit breakers and load switches provided must be complied with in specific situations. If necessary, more detailed information is available in the technical data of switch cabinet (e.g. special working conditions). 7.2 Inspection and Maintenance Inspection and servicing of the switch cabinet should be carried out every 2 to 5 years according to the operation conditions and local environment. Inspection shall include (but not limited to) the following: ➢ Isolate the working area according to IEC and safety regulations ruled by other agencies and make sure the power source will not be switched on again. ➢ Inspect switching device, control, interlocking, protection, signal and functions of other devices. ➢ Check the surface condition of isolation contacts. Move away the truck, put up the valve and visually inspect the contact. If the silver coating on contact surface is worn out and the copper is exposed in air or the surface is severely corroded with injuries or overheating (discoloration) traces, the contact shall be replaced. ➢ Check accessories and auxiliary equipments of switch and also the insulating board to keep them dry and clean. ➢ The equipment surface is not allowed to have external discharge under running voltage. It can be identified by noise, odor, glow, etc. ➢ Basic servicing and inspection are necessary work including the following contents: The device shall be cleaned carefully if it is found to be dirty (In a tropical climate, salt, mould, insect and condensation are all likely to cause pollution.), especially the surface of insulating materials. Remove dust less adhesive with a dry and soft cloth. Immerse the soft cloth in a mildly alkaline household cleaner, remove sticky/greasy dirt, wipe with clean water and then dry it. In terms of insulating materials and elements severely polluted, clean them with halogenfree cleaners. Please obey the operation manual of manufacturer and related guidance of our company for safety. Maintenance ® (cont’d) Lauritz Knudsen Electric Denmark Technology Since 1893 ➢ * Trichloroethane, trichloroethylene or tetrachloromethane is prohibited. ➢ In case there is an external discharge, it often works to apply a layer silicon panniculus adiposus on the discharge surface as temporary repairing. As for permanent solutions of these problems, please consult our company. ➢ Check the bolt connection of bus bar and Earthing system for tightness and whether the functions of isolating contact system are correct. ➢ Please add lubricating oil when there is insufficient lubrication or no lubrication between the truck insert system mechanism and contact point. ➢ Add oil on sliding parts and bearing surfaces in the switch cabinet (e.g. valve, interlocking and guiding system, lead screw mechanism, truck wheels, etc.). Otherwise, clean points which need oil and add lubricating oil on them. ➢ Please obey the maintenance guidance in specific instruction manual of switch cabinet. 7.3 Repairing 7.3.1 General Repairing ➢ Repair immediately for any defections discovered. ➢ Clean up the rust on paint damaged area on steel plate and other steel-made components through mechanical methods (such as copper brush). Lightly grind around the paint layer to remove the greasy dirt, apply the anti-corrosive priming paint immediately and apply the finish paint after the priming paint gets dry. Use compatible paint only. ➢ Clean the white rusty stain on surfaces of galvanized and chrome-plated functional elements with a copper brush. Wipe off the rusty stain particles with dry and clean, soft cloth free from waste silk. Clean up the greasy dirt and apply priming paint immediately after installation and apply finish paint after the priming paint gets dry. ➢ Movable and rotatable parts (e.g. spindle and link rod) should not be painted but they shall be applied with lubricants evenly. 7.3.2 Elements Replacement Please contact our company for elements replacement.
