COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students study the structure and function of the following systems: nervous, endocrine, digestive, urinary,
reproductive and the special senses. This is the second of a two-course sequence in anatomy and physiology, and a
laboratory component (BILB 132) is corequisite to this course.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to
1) Apply the concept of homeostasis to human physiological activity;
2) Describe the interdependency of the systems;
3) Discuss the structure, function and physiological processes of the nervous and endocrine systems;
4) Discuss the structure and function of the eye and the ear;
5) Explain basic anatomy and physiology of the digestive, urinary and reproductive systems; and
6) Apply clinical connections as they relate to the functioning of the above-named systems.
