Background Toyota Motor company was born in 1937 after launching its first ever passenger car in 1936. The current owner of Toyota Motor Corporation is Akio Toyoda, who is the grandson of Kiichiro Toyoda the founder of Toyota Motor Corporation. In Pakistan Toyota began its operations in 1989 when Indus Motor Company Limited was established as a joint venture between Toyota and House of Habib. The company started its commercial operations in March 1993. The current CEO of Toyota Indus is Ali Asghar Jamali. 1.1 Product and Raw Materials Toyota motor corporation mainly provide cars but it also ventures into other businesses like Housing Corporation, business in diversification, industrial vehicle equipment, and in IT. But in Pakistan the company main goal is round selling different vehicles like cars, SUVs, Buses, Vans, etc. There are several raw materials used by Toyota motor Corporation to make cars. Some of the raw materials are imported from different countries like China, Korea, Vietnam. Some of the raw material used by Toyota Motor Corporation are Different types of steel such as mid, high, ultra-high strength, stainless and galvanized steel. Plastics is used in many car parts such as air vents, seats, interior, air bags, door handle. Toyota use recycled material in their car interiors for example making seat fabric from recycled PET bottles. Most of the raw materials comes from scrap cars, these scrap cars are melted down for making new cars. Other scrap materials that can be recycled or renewable are also used to make new cars. Stakeholders 2.1 Shareholders In Toyota Indus the main shareholders are the directors, companies that are associated with Toyota Indus, Foreign Companies, insurances companies and more. These shareholders own a part of the company and invested their money to profit from the company if business goes well. They also have a number of rights and responsibilities like managing and promoting the company and its products. Toyota Indus gets two types of vehicles First are the completely build units that are imported from Japan or Thailand. Second are Complete knock down kits. These are locally assembled at Toyota Indus plant in Karachi. 2.3 Communities IMC has taken a keen interest in welfare of its neighbouring communities. Through social uplift programs the company aims to meet the basic need in three broad areas Health, Education and Livelihoods. This is because the areas in the vicinity are comprised of underprivileged people. Apart from that company also aims to facilitate the areas with basic needs like provision of food, medicine and development of youth through sport initiatives. 2.4 Customers Customers are one of the most significant stakeholders for Toyota Indus. They include individual buyers, corporate clients, and fleet operators. Customers influence the company by demanding high-quality vehicles that meet safety, environmental, and performance standards. Toyota Indus gather feedback from customers, which shapes product designs, features, and after-sales services. Customer preferences drive innovation and new model development. For instance, the demand for fuel-efficient cars has led IMC to introduce hybrid vehicles in Pakistan. 2.5 Employees There are two divisions in employees one a technical and other is non-technical. Toyota Indus offers training and development programs to enhance employee skills and job satisfaction. Programs such as the Apprenticeship Program show how IMC invests in young professionals. Employee efficiency and innovation directly influence production quality and operational success. Highly skilled employees contribute to optimizing manufacturing processes and product development. 3. Campaign and Ads Toyota welcomed Arshad Nadeem to Indus Motor Company Headquarters in Karachi. All this was to appreciate the unwavering dedication and historic achievements of Arshad Nadeem, Toyota gifted A Toyota Fortuner GR-S to Arshad Nadeem for bringing many victories to the country. Link: Toyota Pakistan Invites Arshad Nadeem The recent campaign by Toyota was a collaboration with HBL NISA for celebrating Women’s Day. The main goal of the collaboration was to provide support to the women communities especially for low income. Toyota Pakistan provided priority delivery of Toyota Yaris in 30 days with 13.99% fixed insurance to all HBL NISA customers. Disaster Aid Campaigns Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) has a history of actively contributing to disaster relief efforts in Pakistan, particularly during natural disasters like floods and earthquakes. During the devastating floods of 2010 and more recently in 2022, Toyota Indus provided significant financial aid, relief supplies, and logistical support to the affected areas. The company partnered with local and international organizations to distribute essential items such as food, water, clothing, and medicine to flood victims. IMC also contributed to rebuilding efforts by providing financial assistance to help restore homes and infrastructure in the affected regions. After the 2005 earthquake in northern Pakistan, Toyota Indus played a crucial role in providing emergency relief. The company mobilized resources to deliver supplies and worked with NGOs to provide temporary shelters for displaced people. They have also donated medical equipment and supplies to hospitals in times of need, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Toyota Indus runs environmental sustainability projects as part of its long-term CSR vision. These include tree plantation drives and initiatives to reduce pollution in local communities. 4.2 Broader Approach to Corporate Social Responsibility Toyota Indus takes a holistic approach to CSR, focusing on not just disaster relief, but also longterm community development. For sustainability and environmental care Toyota Indus is committed to reducing its environmental impact through the development of eco-friendly vehicles and sustainable manufacturing practices. Through its efforts to promote local manufacturing, IMC has played a role in supporting the Pakistani economy by creating jobs and developing a skilled workforce. 5. Young Talent Program Toyota Indus provide internship and apprenticeship programs to young talent. The aim of these programs is to recruit young talent introduce them to the workings of the company and train them according to their standards. For students in technology field, the aim of these programs is to train students how the new technology can be integrated in cars, how SAP and ABAP work. How car softwares are managed and mostly importantly about security in softwares. In business field students are taught how customers are being managed. In this field there are variety of thing that interns have to learn like how cars are sold, there paper work, how customers can return their car, insurance, check lists, workshop management and more. 6. Hiring Process for Computer Science Graduates 6.1 Internship Program The hiring process for CS students is very straight forward, for young talent programs Toyota provides an internship You can apply for internship online at Toyota Indus main website. Eligibility criteria Second last year of their Degree Any discipline / degree Minimum CGPA 3.0 First students have to fill their online applications and apply for internship. After applying student have to conduct a written test and after passing the written exam an interview is conducted at a specific date. After the interview students have to wait for internship offer. 6.2 Apprenticeship Program An alternative way for young students to get in Toyota is by apprenticeship program. It is a 3-year program in which they train students to develop a workforce with advance skill set that will enable them to earn a good livelihood and secure a better future. The eligibility criteria and applying process is same as the internship program. 6.3 Roles and Position for CS students For CS students Toyota provide different positions that revolves around IT. For example: Assistant Manager of SAP and ABAP, Assistant Manager IT software developer and data processing and many more. Eligibility Criteria Candidate must have Bachelor’s in Computer Science with SAP ABAP Certification from any reputed university. At least 3 – 5 years of experience in similar or relevant industry. Proven experience with financial reporting and accounting processes. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
