Spheres of Action:Main action of this drug is on those tissues of body
which have more calcium and phosphorus
contents, such as bones, teeth, etc. Glands,
digestive system, female genital organs also come
within the domain of its action.
Pathogenesis : It produres a state of malnutrition because of
defective assimilation in regard to calcium and
phosphorus, leading to improper bone
formation, ossification and bending of long
bones, spinal curvature, delayed dentition,
resulting in rickets, etc.
Constitution :Physical make-up: Adapted to persons who are pale, of dark
complexion, dark hair and eyes; thin spare subiects instead
of fat,emaciated body, sunken flabby abdomen, soft bones
bent disproportionately, enlarged head and long weak
emaciated neck, unable to support head.
Relation with heat and cold: Chilly patient.
Miasm: Psora is in the background.
Diathesis: Scrofulous and gouty diathesis.
Guiding Symptoms :1.Defective bone development. Tendency of bones to curve,
especially long bones, like tibia, fibula, ulna and radius. Nonunion and malunion of bones.
2. Fontanelles remain open too long, especially posterior
fontanelles (Anterior fontanelles—Calc. Carb.).
3. Emaciated body with sunken flabby abdomen (Distended
abdomen—Silicea).
4. Weakness and relaxation—child is slow in learning to walk,
on account of weak ankles, inability to stand
5. Craving for salted and smoked meat, ham, bacon, etc.
6. Dyspepsia where pain is relieved by passing wind and
temporary relief by eating.
7. Complaints aggravate while thinking of them. (Baryta
carb.. Gels., Medo., Helonias dioica, Oxal.ac.).
8. Fistual in ano alternates with chest complaints (Berb. Vul.
And Silicea).
9. It is the most important remedy for chronic
hydrocephalus and it may be given “as preventive to the
pregnant lady who had previously borne hydrocephalic
babies.” Says Grauvogl.
10. At every attempt to eat there is colicky pain in
abdomen.
11. Numbness and crawling sensation in different
organs..
12. Debility remaining after acute diseases (Psorinum).
13. Mind. Bad effects after grief and vexation.
Peevish, forgetful. Involuntary sighing (Ign.).
Always wants to go somewhere. Complaints
aggravates when thinking about them (Baryta
carb. Gels, Medo, Helon, Oxal. Ac,rev. Camphor
and Helleborus).
14. Aliments from: Grief, disappointed love, overstudy, unpleasent news and getting wet.
General Modalities :Aggravation: Exposure to damp cold weather
melting snow from every change of weather.
Amelioration:Summer and dry warm weatherm
every change of weather.
