SHORT STORY
When I was a child, I learned to walk through life on my own. While other kids
asked their parents for help with homework, I quietly figured things out myself.
Not because I had all the answers, but because I had this silent strength inside me
something that told me I had to be independent. That became my way of life.
I had a dream back then. A big one. I wanted to be a seafarer. I’d imagine myself
on a ship, standing under an open sky with the ocean stretching endlessly before
me. I wanted to feel the wind, to chase the horizon, to let the sea teach me things
the land never could.
But life doesn’t always follow the map we draw.
Instead of waves and anchors, I found myself surrounded by screens and wires. I
ended up in information technology far from the ocean, in a world made of code
and quiet. At first, it felt like I’d drifted far from who I was meant to be.
But then I realized something: being in IT still demands the same courage. The
same willingness to face challenges alone, to keep going even when the answers
don’t come easy. It’s just a different kind of ocean, with different tides.
I may not wear a sailor’s cap or feel the salt in the air, but the spirit that once
dreamed of the sea is still alive in me. I’m still navigating. Still searching. Still
sailing just on a different kind of voyage.
