Offered in partnership by Career Development and the Internationalization Office, the Professional Skills Development
Program (PSDP) is a free, non-credit program designed to equip current international students with the foundational
skills and knowledge needed to prepare for professional employment in Canada.
Students are expected to attend 6 in-person workshops and complete assigned activities in order to expand their
networks and effectively demonstrate employment readiness in line with Memorial University's Student Success
Competencies, building confidence in areas such as professionalism, critical thinking, digital literacy, intercultural
awareness, and communication.
Topics explored include (but are not limited to):
- Career Development, Career Pathways, and Skills Identification
- Resume and Cover Letter Writing
- Job Searching, Networking, and Using LinkedIn
- Interview Skills and Strategies
- Provincial and Federal Labour Standards
- Intercultural Communication
Upon completion of the workshops, deliverables, and assignments, students will receive a certificate and have the option
to add the PSDP to Memorial's Online Record of Experience (MORE).
Please note that attendance at all workshops is MANDATORY and that the anticipated time commitment for the
curricular and experiential portion of the program is approximately 30 hours. Before registering, please review
the Program Syllabus/Outline to ensure you can attend all workshops and fulfill all program requirements.

May 29: Resumes (Part 2) and Cover Letters
June 5: Career Exploration and Interviewing
June 12: The Modern Day Job Search, Networking and LinkedIn
June 19: Workplace Standards and Intercultural Communication
*June 26: Please hold this date to make up for workshop cancellations. A supplemental (optional) workshop may also be
organized featuring a current topic of interest.

Eligibility: Current international students enrolled at MUN are eligible to participate in this program. With permission, a
limited number of spaces may also be made available to recent alumni (within 8 months of graduation).
