Scale
This refers to using the
environment and resources so
they can be shared by all people
and living creatures now and
into the feature.
Scale is a concept about geographical phenomena
and problems can be examined at different spatial
levels - local, regional, national, international or
global
For example:
What measures are being used
to protect the environment now
and into the future?
For example:
The earth’s climate issue - global problem
A new freeway being built - local issue
Environment
The concept of environment is
about the significance of the
environment (habitat) in a living
thing’s life and the
interrelationships between them.
Interconnection
Interconnections are the “web of
connection”. No object or
geographical study can viewed in
isolation. Meaning that all things
in a place are connected and work
together.
Place
Place refers to the significance
and function of a particular area.
Place can be described by:
absolute location (longitude
& latitude)
grid reference
street directory
Space
The concept of space is about the significance of a location, spacial
distribution and the way people organise and/or manage the space they
live in.
Change
Change is about analysing
how landscapes, land-forms
or things have changed over a
period of time.
For example:
How would Port Hedland
change after a cyclone?
