RATIONALE
Fluency and comprehension are one of the most important factors in any personal growth and mental
development of an individual. Being an active advocates of reading and providing early interventions to
struggling students can really help in the progression of their acquired reading levels.
The success of our learners greatly depends in the ability to read fluently and to understand what is being
read. Therefore, promoting and advocating the existing reading program in our school is imperative to
improve both the reading fluency and reading comprehension of our learners. Reading literacy is not only a
foundation for basic learning, but also a prerequisite for successful participation in most areas for our young
individuals.
Thus, this school year 2023-2024, our school continues to promote the existing reading program of the
Department of Education in order to empower the young minds of our learners. Reading is an integral part of
who we are and our relationship towards other person because through reading, we learn how to understand,
value, and respect other people’s opinion.
IV.
OVERVIEW:
Sacritan Integrated School, project PRAISE ( Promote Reading Advocacy In Sacritan to Empower) is not
intended to be a substitute for any language instruction but a supplement to the existing reading programs of
the Department of Education that is used to encourage and motivate our learners to bring out their passion
for reading and to instill to our learners the sense of independent learning.
Moreover, the project P.R.A.I.S.E will also help improve our school through boosting the interest of our
students in reading. These learners will prioritize reading during their stay in school because they will be able
to utilize the established mini libraries and join team building activities or laro ng lahi which will be
initiated by the English club and other resource person who will be involved in the program. The project
P.R.A.I.S.E will open more opportunities for our learners to enjoy their reading experiences in school by
providing them interesting reading interventions.
Lastly, the project P.R.A.I.S.E will also help encourage teachers to put up reading corners inside the
school premises in order to boost the confidence and interest of our students to read. This project will promote
and prioritize the reading advocacies of the school in order to attain quality education and that every child will
become a reader because we live by the saying that “today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
