Proportion is the fraction of counts of a specific occurrence over the total sample size.
We shall define probability of the occurrence of an outcome or interval of a random variable as its
relative frequency in an infinite number of trials or in a population. A probability is a
population parameter. An observed proportion (relative frequency) from a sample is a statistic that
can be used to estimate a probability.
