The early settlement and naming of St. Paul.
Originally inhabited by the Dakota people, with a village called Kaposia.
The arrival of European settlers. French-Canadian fur traders.
Pierre Parrent "Pig's Eye" established a tavern, leading to the settlement being called "Pig's
Eye."
Renamed St. Paul in 1841 by Father Lucien Galtier to create a more respectable name for the
settlement
