Introduction
Students have increased their use of educational videos, creating a self-help tool , especially by
senior high school students. Video's have become an important part of higher education. It is
integrated as part of traditional courses, serves as a cornerstone of many blended courses, and is often
the main information delivery mechanism in MOOCs. Several meta-analyses have shown that
technology can enhance learning (e.g.,Schmid et. al.,2014). Educational videos have been a part of
learning, they help senior high students in understanding their lessons more. Educational videos can
enhance traditional teaching methods by providing visual and auditory reinforcement, making complex
topics easier to grasp.Educational videos are frequently free and accessible throughout the internet
,such as Youtube,Google,Facebook,Tiktok and many others, allowing students to easily access them
for free.It is deemed that emerging research has brought forth the idea of video based educational
contents as a key to enhancing literacy for both raising awareness and educating the masses in formal,
non-formal and informal learning domains.(Dinc, 2017; Yilmaz, 2019)
Conducting this research we can know and learn how, what and why educational videos from
social media help or disadvantage a student in learning his/her lessons. Rather than that, we can know
how effective the educational videos are for the senior high students. This helps us understand how
well they would understand their lessons by the help of educational videos. Gathering this information
also helps in understanding the students behaviour towards their studies. How they are willing to watch
educational videos to grasp their lessons. Pursuing this research also helps and informs educators,
policymakers, and other researchers to understand how multimedia learning affects student
engagement, comprehension and retention. This includes examining whether videos enhance
knowledge retention, critical thinking and overall academic performance. Overall by conducting this
research, educators and institutions can make informed decisions about incorporating educational
videos into curriculum, ultimately improving students' learning experiences. When compared to
traditional teaching, it provides more advantages in terms of student learning (Greenberg and
Zanetis[14])
While technology is advancing, not all schools integrate multimedia learning. Using videos in
leaning environments is beneficial for students. The benefits of videos can be listed as making learning
independent from time and space, providing group learning opporunities, facilitating learning in
dimensions of movement, color and sound, transferring outside class environments to class and
facilitating concrete and pemanent learning(Alkan [1]). This study could provide insights into how
educational videos can be used within different educational settings. Our research aims to address
the struggle of many students with traditional teaching methods. This study could help determine if
educational videos make learning more inclusive, especially for students with different learning styles
or disabilities. With the continuous rise of digital distractions, keeping students engaged in lessons is
a challenge for educators. This research includes exploring whether educational videos can improve
attention and motivation. Some complex topics may be difficult to explain using traditional teaching
methods alone. The research investigates how educational videos can enhance understanding of
difficult concepts and topics.
This helps in clarifying the role of multimedia learning, it examines how visual and auditory
elements in educational videos enhance understanding. By assessing student's retention,
comprehension, and academic performance, the research determines the impact of videos on
education. It offers empirical evidence on how educational videos contribute to students' motivation,
participation, and overall learning success. The study can help educators understand how effective is
the integration of videos in overcoming barriers like student disengagement and information overload.
It also emphasized that use of videos, which include both visual and audio elements, facilitate active
interaction between students and the topic (Mitra, Jones, Barrett and William [23])
Research Problem and Rationale
The main problem we are trying to break in our study is the misaligned expectations because there
might be a mismatch between the students' understanding of the discussion and the teachers
understanding of the lesson.
Misaligned expectations are significant because they create a disconnect between what the student
need and what the educator provides. When students expect a more interactive or detailed explanation
instead receives a different teaching style, important points may be over looked or misunderstood,
leading to ineffective communication. This mismatch can decrease student engagement, as learners
may feel that their specific concerns or learning styles are not being addressed, ultimately causing
confusions and frustration. Furthemore, when discussions do not align with the student's expectations,
essential concepts may not be fully grasped, which can widen knowledge gaps and affect the
foundation needed for more advanced topics. Over time persistent misalignment can also reduce trust
in the teaching process, making students less likely to seek help or actively participate in future
discussions.
There are several specific issues related to misaligned expectations that needs further exploration.
One key issue is the clarity and effectiveness of communication between the educators and the
learners which may involve evaluating whether the educators explanation are presented in a way that
aligns with the learners prefered learning styles. Another area of concern is the lack of a robust
feedback mechanism that allows students to express their learning needs and for educators to adjust
their approach accordingly. Additionally, it's important to examine whether the educator has and
adequate framing or understanding or diverse learners expectations which can affect how well the
follow their instructions. Finally, the broader impact in students engagement and trust should be
considered , as a persistent misalignment can lead to frustration reduced participation and ultimately,
a gap in foundational knowledge necessary for more advanced topics.
This problem affects learners in several critical ways, misaligned expectations can lead to personal
frustration, decreased motivation and lack of confidence in one's ability to master the subject matter
which ultimately hinders personal growth and academic success. When many learners experience the
same disconnect between their needs and the support provided, it can result in disengagement and
diminished collective learning. Educational institutions may face broader percussions such as reduced
overall performances, a decline in reputation and challenges in retaining both staff and students. In all
cases, these issues can create long-lasting gaps in understanding and trust, undermining the
effectiveness of communication and collaboration that are essential for progress.
Research Questions
Key Questions
● Do students feel that educational video clips improve their understanding of concepts?
● Do students find it easier to apply knowledge gained from educational video clips in
assessment or real life scenarios?
● Do educational videos help in retaining information better than traditional method?
These questions explore how students feel about learning with educational videos. It examines
whether educational videos improve motivation and real-world application of knowledge. These
questions asses whether students find video-based learning effective in understanding and retaining
knowledge by measuring the impact of educational videos in learning outcomes.
These questions are open-ended and suitable for qualitative research as they aim to explore
students perspectives and experiences.
Scope and Delimitation
The research will focus on understanding the advantages of integrating educational videos in
teaching methods. It also includes exploring how these educational videos help senior high school
students in grasping their lessons deeply.
The study will be limited to a specific educational setting, where in we will collect the datas from
Cordillera College Development Center senior high-school students. The participants will primarily be
the students themself.
Certain external factors, such as the personal teaching styles of individual educators or broader
system issues will not be included as they extend beyond the scope of this study.
Significance of the Study
Students will benefit from improved learning experiences, while teachers can refine their teaching
methods. School administrators and policy makers can use the finding to enhance educational policies
and training programs. Educational researchers may also gain insights for further studies.
The study will add to research on effective teaching and communication in education. Practically
it can improve teacher training, refine classroom strategies, and enhance feedback systems to better
align teaching with students needs.
This research could guide future studies ot teaching effectiveness and student engagement. It may
also help institutions and policymakers develop better training programs, feedback mechanism and
curriculum improvements a more effective learning environment.
