PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
- Before we start, let’s have a
short prayer. Who can lead
the prayer?
2. Greetings
- Good Morning Class!
3. Classroom Management
- Please pick up the pieces of
trash on the floor and
arrange your seats
4. Energizer
- Before we start, let’s have a
quick energizer! Are you
ready?
- “There was a tree”
Learner’s Activity
(A pupil will volunteer to lead the prayer)
Good Morning Sir Cavz
(pupils will pick up the pieces of trash on
the floor and will arrange their seats)
Yes Sir
There was a tree, a finest tree
that I ever did see, and the tree
was on the ground
where the green grass grew all
around, all around where the
green grass grew all around
(Pupils will Dance and Sing “There was a
tree”)
There was a branch, a finest
branch that I ever did see, and
the branch was on the tree and
the tree was on the ground
where the green grass grew, all
around, all around where the
green grass grew, all around
Great job everyone! You may
now take your seats.
5. Checking of Attendance
- Is there anyone absent in the
class today?
Thank you, Sir
- None, Sir
- Okay, Very Good!
6. Setting of Classroom Rules
- In this classroom, we only
have 2 rules.
1. Listen Carefully
2. Participate actively
B. Developmental Activities
1. Drill
- Let’s have an activity!
We have here an Incentive
Chart. I will group you into 4.
Each group will be given a
paper and a Marker.
(Pupils will go to their respective groups)
Directions: I will flash some
jumbled words and clue will be
given. If I said GO you can start
writing your answer to the given
paper. If you’re done, yell
“YEHEY”. And the first group
who finishes first is the winner.
1. ORACBN IODXDIE
- Gas given off by humans
and other living organisms
2. SATOMAT
- Tiny pores through which
plants breathe
(Pupils will actively participate in the
activity)
3. PHYLLHCROOL
- Found within the
chloroplasts of green plants
and it absorbs light energy
from the sun.
C. Motivation
- I will show you some Pictures.
Describe what can you observe in
each picture.
1.
2.
Guide Questions:
- What can you see in the 1st
picture?
- What are the ingredients in
making spaghetti?
- Who usually cooks the
spaghetti?
- What can you see in the 2nd
picture?
- Do plants and trees need
food?
- Did your mother also cook
their food?
Spaghetti
Hotdog, pasta, tomato sauce
Mother, ate, Aunt
Tree
Yes
No
Very Good! Plants and trees
make their own food.
D. Presentation
1. Teaching/Modeling
- Humans, animals, and other
living organisms need food to
grow and live. It’s also the
same for the plants and
trees, they were able to
make their own food for
them to grow and that
process is called
Photosynthesis.
- The word Photosynthesis
comes from a Greek word
“photo” means ‘light’ and the
word “synthesis” means ‘to
combine things’
- Photosynthesis is a process
plants use to convert carbon
dioxide, water, and sunlight
into food.
Carbon dioxide + Water + Sunlight =
PHOTOSYNTHESIS
-
What can you observe about
this equation?
-
Very Good! For plants to
produce their own food, they
need three ingredients which
are the Carbon dioxide,
water and sunlight.
-
Do you know where the
carbon dioxide is coming
from?
Yes, it’s found in our environment and it’s
the gas that humans and animals breathe
out.
-
What part of the plant that
absorbs the water?
Very Good! Water is
absorbed by the roots. This
water passes up the plant
stem and into the leaves.
Roots, Sir
-
-
-
How about Sunlight? What
part of the plant that absorbs
sunlight?
Good! Sunlight is the energy
that the plants absorbed
through the leaves. And
chlorophyll is the part of the
leaves where the
photosynthesis takes place.
Plants need Carbon Dioxide, Water, and
Sunlight to produce their own food.
In the leaves, Sir.
-
-
-
-
Based on this picture, what
do you think is the role of the
stomata in the
photosynthesis?
Correct! It serves as the
nose of the plant where it
breathes in the carbon
dioxide from the air.
There are opened stomata
and closed stomata. Opened
stomata is where the plants
breathe in carbon dioxide
while the Closed Stomata is
where the plants breathe out
Oxygen and Water.
It is the tiny holes where plants breathe in
carbon dioxide.
This diagram shows the
equation and process of
photosynthesis
a. Plants must capture
carbon dioxide from the
air and is absorbed
through small openings
through stomata.
b. Water is pulled into the
plants by the roots up
unto stem and into the
leaves.
c. Chlorophyll absorbs
energy from the
sunlight.
Then, the energy from the
sun is used to convert
Water and Carbon Dioxide
into Glucose (Sugar)
that serves its food and
releases Oxygen into the
air as a waste product.
2. Guided Practice
- I have prepared some
questions here on the board
and let us answer it.
1) What do you think will
happen to the plant if
Water is not present?
2) What do you think will
happen to the plant if it
doesn’t get enough
sunlight?
3) Why do you think
photosynthesis is
important in our lives?
4) What do the plants and
trees provide for humans
and all living organisms?
(Pupils will answer in their own opinion)
(Pupils will answer in their own opinion)
(Pupils will answer in their own opinion)
(Pupils will answer in their own opinion)
3. Group Performance
- Each group will be given an
activity worksheet, Cartolina
and a marker. Choose 1
presenter to explain your
work. You only have 5
minutes to answer.
Directions: Look at the diagram
of Photosynthesis. Then use the
word bank to complete the
sentences in the given cartolina.
(Pupils will actively cooperate and
participate in this activity)
Cartolina:
What is Photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is a process in
which plants use ___________
from the sun to convert
____________ from the air and
____________ from the soil
into __________ to feed the
plant. During this process, the
plant releases __________ into
the air as a waste product.
E. Generalization
1. Again Class, what is
Photosynthesis?
2. What are the three ingredients
in main ingredients in the
process of Photosynthesis?
3. Why is the process of
photosynthesis essential to
human being and all living
organisms?
IV.
It is a process plants use to convert
carbon dioxide and water into the
chlorophyll that uses energy from the
sunlight to produce sugar and oxygen?
Carbon Dioxide, water and Sunlight
