This standard helps protect lives and reduce
property loss by establishing requirements for the
Design, Installation, and Testing of smoke control
systems used to mitigate the impact of smoke
during a fire.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
The objective of NFPA 92 Smoke Control course
is to provide participants with the knowledge and
skills necessary to:
• Understand the principles and importance
of smoke control systems in fire safety.
• Interpret and apply the guidelines outlined
in NFPA 92 for designing and installing
smoke control systems.
• Identify the different types of smoke
control systems and their applications.
• Understand the installation, maintenance,
and testing requirements for smoke
control systems.
• Ensure that the smoke control systems
comply with the applicable codes and
standards, particularly in terms of fire
protection and life safety.
• Analyze and troubleshoot common issues
that may arise in the operation of smoke
control systems.

NFPA has been approved by the International
Association for Continuing Education and
Training as an Accredited Provider. One
Continuing Education Unit, or CEU, is
equivalent to 10 hours of participation in an
organized continuing education experience.
Each full classroom training day represents 7
hours of instruction (0.7 CEU’s). To receive the
CEUs awarded for each day of this training,
you must:
1. Attend all class sessions.
2. Ensure your attendance is captured.
3. Pass an online post-training assessment.
4. Complete an online training evaluation.
