That simple action would allow you to still support my page, even if you are not using my coupon code. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about nootropics, but keep in mind that this is not my area of expertise and I am simply explaining what these drugs are and what my favorite ones do. Feel free to DM me on IG or Discord (if you belong to the private community). What are Nootropics? To put it simply, Nootropics are a class of drugs and supplements that are used to improve cognitive function, memory, creativity, motivation and focus. A common name for Nootropics is “smart drugs”, and even though they can’t make a dumb person more intelligent, they can certainly optimize anyone’s cognitive function to maximize mental performance in any given situation. There are tons of nootropics, but they can be classified into two distinct categories: - Synthetic Nootropics, which have been developed with the intent of improving cognitive function and are almost always subject to a medical prescription. These are way more powerful than their natural counterparts, but they come with more side-effects. Some examples are: Piracetam and the rest of Racetams (Oxiracetam, Pramiracetam, etc…), Noopept, Modafinil, Armodafinil and Phenibut. - Natural Nootropics, which tend to be extracts from certain herbs and plants, but also minerals, vitamins and other naturally-occurring compounds. Most are available over-the-counter. Some examples are: L-Theanine, Caffeine, Ashwagandha, Rhodiola Rosea, L-Tyrosine, Vitamin D and even Creatine. MY FAVORITE NOOTROPICS NOOPEPT N-Phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester Dose: 10mg, 3-4 times a day. TREATMENT Length: Short and medium-term use. HALF LIFE: Up to 1 hour. Noopept is a nootropic created by Russian scientists in the late 90s. Contrary to popular belief, this Nootropic is not part of the Racetam family (which you’ll learn more about later), but it was designed to have similar effects to members of that family such as Piracetam. It works by modulating acetylcholine and AMPA receptors. Acetylcholine is involved in memory, so by modulating this neurotransmitter, Noopept can drastically improve memory. This makes Noopept an excellent nootropic for students and people in professions that require a lot of memorization. Fortunately, this drug is unscheduled in most countries (with the exception of the UK and Australia), so it is fairly easy to get without breaking any laws. Oh, it is also extremely cheap and rarely faked! Besides improving memory, Noopept also has neuroprotective properties, which make it an excellent tool to combat age-related neurodegeneration and neuronal oxidation. After reading about these incredible benefits, you must be thinking that the side-effects MUST be terrible. Well, unfortunately there have not been enough clinical trials of this drug to know with certainty what the short-term and long-term side-effects are, but according to anecdotal reports from thousands, if not millions of users, side-effects like headaches, anxiety, brain fog, insomnia and lethargy are possible. Supplementing with Choline when taking Noopept may alleviate or completely prevent some of these side-effects. MY EXPERIENCE AND HOW I USE IT Noopept is not a drug that I use regularly, but I have used it a few times when I have had to learn or memorize something important in a short span of time. I have never experienced any side-effect, in fact I find that it improves my mood and makes me more extroverted. If I had to study for 5 hours, I would take 10mg of noopept every 60-90 minutes, and never more than a total of 40mg per day. Taking it consecutively for a few days seems to improve its efficacy. Noopept may become less powerful as the body gets used to it, so I would recommend cycling it and using it only when strictly necessary. PIRACETAM 2-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide Dose: 1000-1500mg, 2-3 times a day. TREATMENT Length: Short and medium-term use. HALF LIFE: Up to 5 hours. Piracetam is the “founding member” of the Racetam family of nootropics. The racetams are a group of nootropic drugs that share the same core structure and overall mechanism of action. They work by modulating acetylcholine receptors, glutamate receptors and AMPA receptors, among others. The various members of this family differ in their strength, halflife and tolerability, and they have some slightly different positive properties, but in general they were all designed with the same goal in mind: To improve cognitive function, amplify memory and fight neurodegeneration. As the original Racetam, Piracetam is widely considered the least effective drug of this family, but it is such an important drug that it deserves a spot in this book, even though its more innovative brothers provide better results. Piracetam is unscheduled in the US and Canada, but subject to prescription in most western countries. The benefits of Piracetam are similar to those of Noopept. It improves learning and memory and it fights age-related neurodegeneration. Furthermore, there is some evidence to support that Piracetam may alleviate some of the symptoms of epilepsy, and it may also be helpful for people with cerebrovascular disorders (suboptimal blood flow to the brain). Common side-effects include headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and agitation. Most people do not get any side-effects as long as they stick to the recommend dose and treatment length. MY EXPERIENCE AND HOW I USE IT I have used Piracetam a few times, but I personally prefer Noopept and other racetams over it. It is not as strong as the others, and I do not become more extroverted when I take it. Furthermore, it requires a large dose and that can make it inconvenient. That being said, it does not cause any side-effects for me, and I would usually take 1000mg every 3 hours for a total of 4000mg a day. I never took it for more than 4 weeks at a time. Combining it with Choline seems to improve its efficacy. OXIRACETAM 2-(4-hydroxy-2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide Dose: 750mg, 2-3 times a day. TREATMENT Length: Short and medium-term use. HALF LIFE: Up to 8 hours. Oxiracetam is another member of the racetam family, and it is directly derived from Piracetam. Like the rest of drugs in this category, Oxiracetam was developed to improve cognitive function, boost memory and promote neuroprotection. Unfortunately, Oxiracetam is one of the least researched and understood racetams, so it is generally considered more risky because there is a greater degree of uncertainty when it comes to its potential negative consequences. The main advantage of Oxiracetam vs Piracetam is that a smaller dose can yield better results, and thanks to its longer half-life, it is not necessary to dose it as frequently. Oxiracetam, however, is not as fast-acting as Piracetam. It is an unscheduled drug in most Western countries, with the exception of Australia and a few others. Even though there are not many studies on the effectiveness of Oxiracetam, there is data indicating that it can improve memory and learning ability, it can reduce amnesia and it may increase long-term potentiation in the hippocampus. The side-effects are mostly unknown, but like with most Nootropics, headaches, insomnia, nausea and other generic side-effects are possible. MY EXPERIENCE AND HOW I USE IT Oxiracetam is one of my favorite nootropics because its halflife is long and it provides me with incredible focus, improved memory and significantly better learning ability. I have never experienced any side-effects, and I usually take 750mg every 6 hours whenever I have a busy day that requires focused work, learning and memorization. It is not as fast-acting as Piracetam, so it should be dosed 1-2 hours prior to when we want to feel its effects. I do not feel any difference when stacking it with Choline, but some users report improved efficacy. MODAFINIL 2-benzhydrylsulfinylacetamide Dose: 100-200mg/day TREATMENT Length: Short and medium-term use. HALF LIFE: 12-15 hours. Modafinil is, by far, the most popular nootropic in the market (unless you count Caffeine as a nootropic). From Wall Street to Silicon Valley, this drug is used by all kinds of entrepreneurs and investors who are trying to squeeze as much brain power as possible to excel at their professions. College students are also avid users of Modafinil, and I know multiple people who would have never graduated without this drug. But, what exactly is Modafinil and what is it used for? This drug is commonly prescribed to treat narcolepsy and other sleep-related conditions, because it promotes wakefulness. Its use as a cognitive performance enhancer is not what the drug was designed for. Modafinil has been studied a lot but no one fully understands it yet, but it is known to act on a wide variety of receptors like GABA, dopamine, glutamate, norepinephrine, serotonin and a few others. This is a regulated drug, and it requires a prescription in the vast majority of Western countries. When it comes to its benefits and side-effects, Modafinil seems to deliver all kinds of pros with relatively few cons. It can treat narcolepsy, sleep apnea-induced daytime sleepiness, altered circadian rythms and other sleep-related conditions, but it shines when used as a Nootropic: - It improves focus and alertness to a very significant extent. - It improves mood and helps alleviate depression. - It may help with getting rid of various addictions. - It reduces the occurrence of impulsive decisions. - It improves overall cognitive function, learning ability and reasoning ability. And the best part is that modafinil is not addictive, it does not cause a crash or hangover and it is well-tolerated by the vast majority of users. Common side-effects are elevated heart rate, dizziness, anxiety, nausea and other generic side-effects that all drugs can cause. The most dangerous and rare side-effect it can cause is Stevens - Johnson syndrome. MY EXPERIENCE AND HOW I USE IT I do not have as much experience with Modafinil as I do with other nootropics, primarily because it is harder to get. Despite this, every time I used it I understood why it is such a praised compound. The laser-like focus that Modafinil provides is unlike anything else I have ever experienced, and I only used a low dose of 50-100mg a day! A good example of how to take it would be to take 100mg upon waking up on a day that you know will require sharp focus, an enormous amount of willpower, and long hours of work. If 100mg are not enough for you, work your way up to 200mg. L-THEANINE (2S)-2-amino-5-(ethylamino)-5-oxopentanoic acid Dose: 200-800mg/day TREATMENT Length: Indefinite. HALF LIFE: About 1 hour. L-Theanine is my favorite natural nootropic. This amino acid can be found in various plant and fungal species, but it is popular for being responsible for the relaxing effects of Green Tea. This natural compound acts in multiple ways: It can increase dopamine, serotonin and GABA levels while inducing alpha wave generation. The consequences of these actions are increased memory and focus, relaxation, and deeper sleep. Despite being less powerful than the synthetic Nootropics we just covered, L-Theanine has two massive advantages. The first one is that it can be acquired legally over-the-counter in practically any country for a very cheap price, and the second one is that side-effects are extremely rare and very insignificant if they do happen (in most cases). The benfits of L-Theanine are many: - Improved cognitive function that translates into having better memory, a greater ability to focus and significant neuroprotection in the elderly. - Relaxation, which makes it a perfect tool against stress, anxiety and even elevated heart rates and blood pressure. - Improved sleep. Not only does it make falling asleep easier thanks to its relaxing properties, but it also improves REM sleep by modulating GABA receptors. - Boosted Immunity (especially when combined with LCystine) and antioxidant effects. Besides these amazing benefits, L-Theanine may also help alleviate the symptoms of schizophrenia and despression. As previously mentioned, side-effects are rare and almost never serious. Possible side-effects are minor headaches, sleep disturbances and stomach ulcers (if overdosed for a long period of time). It is also worth noting that since it can lower blood pressure, people with naturally low BP or those who take BP medications should be careful. MY EXPERIENCE AND HOW I USE IT This is a nootropic that I like a lot, however I rarely get an increase in focus from it. I use it to reduce the anxiety that SARMs like RAD-140 and S-23 can cause from time to time, and to relax myself before going to sleep. I like to take 250mg 3 times a day for anxiety, and 500mg before bed when I want the sleep benefits. Some people stack it with Caffeine, and they claim that this combination provides the best of both worlds without the negatives of Caffeine. I personally do not get any benefits from doing that. As always, keep in mind that these substances carry some dangers and that you should not take any supplement or drug without your doctor’s supervision. This ebook is not medical advice, I am merely presenting information and explaining my personal experiences with these compounds. Please be careful and do your own research!
