Game Analyse: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Players:
Positive: Amazing Single Player open-world game filled with interesting characters and story’s to be
discovered by the player.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Objectives:
Positive: The goal is to eventually find Ciri and defeat the Wild Hunt, what drives the game forward
are the quests and the open-world which is filled with places to explore and find nice loot that helps
you to continue the cycle of the gameplay loop.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Resources:
Positive: Gaining loot by killing monsters, doing quests or just finding them in the wild. Resources
can be sold for money or can be turned into crafting materials which can be you uses for armor,
weapons or potions what can give you an edge in combat.
Negative: Towards the end of the game you most likely are already swimming in loot so the
gathering aspect kind of tends to slow down for most players.
Conflict:
Positive: Conflict comes from killing enemies who all have their own strengths and weaknesses,
Conflict can also come from special dialog options or can be avoided in the same way. And
sometimes they throw puzzles in to the mix.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Game System:
Positive: Like mentioned in earlier parts, the base mechanics are killing enemies, finding or crafting
new items or consumables and finishing the story.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Game Flow:
Positive: You make progress by doing quests, which makes you stronger so you can explore more
which can also help you get stronger by finding items.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Story:
Positive: The game has an amazing main story with 3 alternate endings that makes you want to
replay just to see what would happen if you had chosen a different dialog option. The story is a great
ending to a 3-part story from the previous games but is also great for newcomers who haven’t
played them. The world is rich with lore not just on the surface for anybody to see but also hidden
gems that you only find by really trying to find more.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Emersion:
Positive: In my opinion the game does an amazing job of sucking you in to the world and let you
forget how long you were playing. It is a grounded fantasy world with realistic feeling characters.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Movement:
Positive: The game play is in my opinion really fluent from the combat, walking trough White
Orchard, riding on top of Roach or swinging in the dangerous waters.
Negative: New comers to the genre may need to get used to it but the tutorial does that in a great
way in my opinion.
Time to Kill/Death:
Positive: Depends on the difficultly you have set and how early you take on certain quests or areas.
The game helps the players in this way by having a recommended level for each quest but for
players who want a challenge they are not locked until they have reached that level.
Negative: Players could get frustrated if the encounter a higher-level enemy and cannot defeat it.
Menu flows:
Positive: For an RPG I think most of the menus are doing their part, you can find the things you need
with an UI that fits the theme the game gives off.
Negative: At the end of the game some menus can get crowded if you don’t manage your inventory.
The crafting menu could also get a little disorganized the more things the player unlocks.
Cost VS Reward
Positive: For a full price even if you are more interested in some parts of the game, for example you
just want to experience the story and don’t wat to hassle with difficult battles you still get a lot out it
and that also goes the other way around.
Negative: Nothing in this category.
Time Consuming:
Positive: It can take people 25 hours but you can also take 200 hours and still not get bored because
there is so much to this game.
Negative: This can also be a drawback for certain people because they don’t have the time to play
for so long and don’t want to be playing the same game forever.
