LABORATORY 5
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this lab is to evaluate the steady-state behavior of various circuits.
RC STEADY STATE CIRCUIT
Configure the first-order
rder “RC” circuit shown using the lab
lab-stock components and
nd answer the corresponding
questions. A good choicee would be to use 0.01nF and 1k
1k. Configure the source voltage using the lab function
generator with a voltage at 5V amplitude, 0V DC offset and 110kHz.
1.
2.
3.
Analytically:
a. Calculate the impedance as seen by the source
b. Determine the voltage across the capacitor
c. Determine the current through the capacito
capacitor
d. Draw the phasor diagram of the circuit
Empirically:
a. Measure the capacitor voltage
b. Measure the capacitor current
c. Draw the phasor diagram of the circuit and verify your answer from part (1)
d. Determine
ne the impedance as seen by the source and verify your answer from part (1)
Model (LTSpice):
a. Measure the capacitor voltage
b. Measure the capacitor current
c. Verify your results from (1) and (2)
RC STEADY STATE CIRCUIT
Reconfigure the first-order
rder “RC” circuit shown above to a first-order “RL” circuit by replacing the capacitor in the
above model with an inductor. A good choic
choice would be to use 180nF and 1k. Configure the source voltage using
the lab function generator with a voltage at 5V amplitude, 0V DC offset and 110kHz.
Repeat all questions from the “first
first order RC circuit
circuit” for the inductor.
