Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 30-minute lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Define and identify an inscribed angle and its intercepted arc.
2. Describe the relationship between the measure of an inscribed angle and its intercepted
arc.
3. Apply understanding through differentiated activities that require analysis and critical
thinking.
4. Justify answers and explain reasoning clearly.
Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of relationships in a circle (angles, arcs, chords,
secants, and tangents).
Performance Standard:
The learner is able to solve problems involving relationships in a circle using appropriate
tools and strategies.
Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC):
Describes and illustrates the relationship between an inscribed angle and its intercepted
arc.
II. CONTENT
Topic: Inscribed Angle and Intercepted Arc
Key Concept: The measure of an inscribed angle is half the measure of its intercepted arc.
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
Materials: Manila paper, markers, compass, protractor, ruler, colored cut-out circles, digital
presentation or visual aids, worksheets.
References: Grade 7 Mathematics Learner’s Module, DepEd MATATAG Curriculum Guide,
teacher-prepared materials.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities (1–2 minutes)
- Greetings and prayer
- Checking of attendance
- Quick energizer: “Circle Song”
B. Introduction (ENGAGE – 5 minutes)
Activity: “Angle Hunt!”
Show a circle with various angles. Ask:
- What kind of angles do you see?
- Which angles touch the center or edge?
- What happens to the arc as the angle moves?
C. Lesson Proper
1. Explore & Explain (10 minutes)
Concept Exploration (3 mins): Define inscribed angle and intercepted arc.
Key idea: Inscribed angle is half of its intercepted arc.
Visual Demo (2 mins): Use cut-outs and protractors.
Guided Practice (5 mins): Practice angle-arc problems.
2. Elaborate (10 minutes)
Group learners by readiness:
Starter Thinkers: Match angle and arc cards, create labeled examples.
On-Track Thinkers: Solve problems and draw labeled figures.
Deep Divers: Prove all inscribed angles intercepting the same arc are equal.
3. Evaluate + Extend (5 minutes)
Class Sharing and Summary:
- Inscribed angle = ½ intercepted arc
- Arc defines the opening
Exit Ticket: Explain the rule in your own words.
V. ASSESSMENT
Formative:
- Observation
- Activity accuracy
- Exit ticket reasoning
- Group presentations
VI. ASSIGNMENT / HOMEWORK
Draw a circle, mark three inscribed angles intercepting the same arc, and prove they are
equal.
