WHAT IS A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE IN SPORTS?
A healthy lifestyle is described as
a way of life that promotes good
health
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Enough Sleep (Sahil)
Sleep is important for athletes because it helps with
physical recovery, mental well-being, and cardiovascular
health. Athletes need at least 7-9 hours
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Exercise (Ahmed)
It can improve your physical and mental
health, and help you maintain a healthy
weight.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Balanced/Healthy Diet (Liam)
Good nutrition can enhance sporting performance. A well-planned, nutritious
diet meets most of an athlete's vitamin and mineral needs, and provide
enough protein to promote muscle growth and repair. Also a good amount of
carbohydrates are important as they are the primary source while
exercising and they also help in muscle building.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
No Alcohol or Drug Abuse (Ryan)
Alcohol reduces your body's ability to convert food to energy. It
also reduces carbohydrates and blood sugar levels. Alcohol also
increases dehydration, slow muscle recovery and high risk of
diseases such as high blood pressure
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Time to relax/rest (Lav)
Rest and relaxation are important for athletes because they help
muscles repair and grow back stronger, which can help prevent injury
and improve performance. Rest in between training is also important
as it gives your body time to regain your energy that you have lost
during training.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
No Smoking (Harshit)
Smoking can negatively impact an athlete's performance
and increase their risk of injury. It can also increase the
risk of developing diseases like lung cancer, heart
disease, and stroke.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Having Fun/Playing a sport (Rohan)
Enjoyment increases focus, creativity, and persistence.
Research shows that athletes who find joy in their sport
are more likely to succeed, stay committed, and recover
from setbacks.
THANK YOU!
