The Roots of Juvenile Delinquency
What makes a child stray from the righteous way?
What storms brew within, where they lose their stay?
Juvenile delinquency, a cry of despair,
A question of nurture, neglect, and care.
The broken home, where silence screams,
Where love is fractured, and so are dreams.
A mother’s tears, a father’s rage,
These stories are written on a fragile page.
No guiding hand to show what’s right,
Just endless shadows in the dead of night.
Poverty’s grip, so tight, so cruel,
Turns life’s lessons into survival school.
A hungry stomach, an empty plate,
Breeds resentment that twists into hate.
Stealing for bread, breaking for gain,
A desperate heart seeks to numb its pain.
Peers and pressure, a toxic blend,
Where a young mind bends, or it may end.
“Be one of us!” they cheer, they shout,
And the lines of right and wrong blur out.
The lure of the gang, the promise of power,
Draws a child into their darkest hour.
Media’s glare, with its flashing lies,
Shapes young minds with its tempting guise.
A world of violence and easy greed,
Plants the seed of a dangerous creed.
They mimic what they see on the screen,
Forgetting what humanity truly means.
Education fails, the system cracks,
The child gets lost in the widening gaps.
A teacher’s apathy, a school that ignores,
Pushes them toward delinquent doors.
No lessons of hope, no light to see,
They believe in failure as destiny.
Trauma burns, deep scars inside,
Invisible pain they’re forced to hide.
Abuse and neglect, a heavy chain,
That warps their soul and feeds their pain.
They lash out not because they’re wild,
But because they’re hurting—just a child.
Where is the village to raise the young?
Where are the songs of care once sung?
Where are the hands to guide and hold,
To teach them love is worth more than gold?
Society watches, then points and blames,
Yet takes no part in changing the game.
So listen close, and hear their plea,
Their acts of rebellion scream, “Notice me!”
For every crime, there’s a deeper tale,
A child once loved, now set to fail.
Let’s heal the roots, repair the tree,
And save them from delinquency.
It starts with us, with every care,
With love, with patience, with hearts that dare.
To break the cycle, to stop the chain,
To turn their losses into gain.
The cause is clear; the cure is too—
It begins with me, and it begins with you.
