what is phrasal verbs
A phrasal verb is a combination of a verb and
one or more particles (prepositions or adverbs)
that, together, create a meaning different
from the original verb.
Types of Phrasal Verbs
1. Separable Phrasal Verbs
Definition: The particle can be separated from the verb and
placed after the object.
Example: "He turned off the light." / "He turned the light off."
2. Inseparable Phrasal Verbs
Definition: The particle cannot be separated from the verb.
Example: "She ran into an old friend."
Examples of phrasal

Bring up
Meaning: To mention or introduce a topic.
Type: Separable
Example:
1. She brought up an interesting point during the meeting.
2. Don't bring up that topic again
Carry on
Meaning: To continue doing something.
Type: Intransitive
Example:
1. Despite the interruption, he carried on with his presentation.
2. She carried on working even though she was tired.
Figure out
Meaning: To understand or solve something.
Type: Separable
Example:
1. I need to figure out how to fix this problem.
2. Can you figure out the answer to this question?
Get over
Meaning: To recover from something (e.g.,
an illness or a difficult situation).
Type: Inseparable
Example:
1. It took her a long time to get over the
flu.
2. He finally got over his fear of flying
Look forward to
Meaning: To anticipate with pleasure.
Type: Inseparable
Example
1. I'm looking forward to the weekend.
2. She looks forward to her vacation every year.
Make up
Meaning: To invent a story or excuse.
Type: Separable
Example
1. He made up an excuse for being late.
2. She made up a story to explain her absence.

Meaning: To lose consciousness.
Type: Inseparable
Example
1. He passed out from the heat.
2. She felt dizzy and passed out

Meaning: To start doing a new activity or hobby.
