Khiêm – Being Famous
In recent years, Being famous has become increasingly popular with many people. Some people
believe that celebrities are usually closely followed by the paparazzi. This essay will discuss the
benefits and drawbacks of being famous.
On the one hand, looking at the positive aspects of being famous. One of the main advantages
would be that famous people usually earn a lot of money. This means that they often have many
chances to earn money for a living, such as earning money from some endorsement deal.
Moreover, the salaries of famous people are usually higher than those of normal people in our
society. For example, in Vietnam, the salaries of celebrities are usually triple that of officers.
Another good point would be that famous people greatly influence young people. That is to say,
celebrities are often noticed by many people and create a trend in fashion. Consequently, the
fans usually imitate their activities and the way they wear clothes. For instance, G-Dragon, a
famous singer in Korea, usually creates a trend in fashion. Thus, famous people often have high
salaries and set a trend.
On the other hand, being famous has some potential downsides. The first disadvantage would
be that celebrities' privacy usually does not exist. This would mean that their daily life is often
closely followed by paparazzi, so when they make mistakes, journalists will report about that.
Consequently, they are stressed or even depressed because of the criticism that people make
about them. For instance, C. Ronaldo’s activities are usually noticed by people around the
world, so he is usually criticized because of his small mistakes. Another problem would be that
it is difficult to maintain personal relationships. That is to say, friends and family of celebrities
may take advantage of their fame for personal gain. When someone becomes famous, they can
earn a lot of money, so people around them will ask for many things, such as gifts, loans, and
favors. For example, Messi usually says that he is usually alone because his acquaintances often
take advantage of his fame. Thus, being famous brings them many problems, such as having no
privacy and close friends.
In conclusion, being famous is both positive and negative However, in my view, the benefits of
being famous outweigh the drawbacks. However, journalists and fans should try to provide
celebrities with more privacy.
