I have added and omitted certain elements and emphasized aspects that I find critical. Use this guida nce to develop your own trading style, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Your trading style should suit your personal characteristics. 2 COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT TRADING (1/2) – “IT’S EASY MONEY” Many people coming into trading have a fundamental misconception about how successful (day) trading works What many people think about how trading works: The reality: • Superior analysis of the charts provides predictions about what the market does next • Charts do not predict price, they only give an indication of liquidity distribution and potential setups with asymmetrical risk reward • Good traders understand how the market works and are able to predict upcoming moves and take advantage of that “all day long” • • Impressive market experts that are right most of the time about how the market moves and trade the best and largest moves of the market Even good traders have no idea what the market does next, they just sit around most of the time and wait for very specific setups they are specialized on, potentially missing the largest moves • They are amazing winners, that pull money of the markets with an impressive hit rate They are rather humble process addicts that follow a very strict plan giving them a slight statistical edge • They are particularly good losers, that do not change their plan even after a couple of losing trades • It is essential to be clear about, why the market might let you pull out money consistently: - You will not find the secret sauce, that lets you sit there and make money all day - You will not become a good trader, by being the cool guy that just kills it every day and has everything in control - The reality is that you need to work exceptionally hard on yourself, to develop a humble, probabilistic and stable mindset - Real edge comes from extreme accuracy, selectivity, patience and especially humility - Are you ready for that? 3 COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT TRADING (2/2) – “IT’S IMPOSSIBLE” People outside of trading are mostly thinking it’s just gambling, since 95% of traders lose money. Why is it that hard? The issue – We naturally do it wrong! The solution – Be aware that a trade is a bet! • The market is one giant liquidity hunting machine that triggers the human mind deeply to react to its manipulations • • We have a very ancient part of our brain the “Lizard” brain that is triggered in this way, that hijacks our planning brain easily and without us even noticing Be aware of your inner lizard: We have to take care of our “Lizard” brain, with self talk, meditation, having a plan… as we would manage a different person! We need to take sure it is not triggered and if, we need to see this and calm it down • We are naturally focused on the outcome of our trades, and we try to avoid losses and to be right as much as possible… we try to control the outcome as we do in most other situations in our life… Be prepared: We need to be perfectly prepared for every session, have a plan and know exactly what we want to see for a pair in a session, leave no room for spontaneous emotional decisions • Be disciplined: Have detailed rules for entry and managing your trades, stick to them 100%, no emotions and live reactions • Don’t be involved: Expect a random outcome! Do not try to be right, do not predict and expect a result. Be aware that it is a bet, just sit back wait what happens, accept whatever happens and manage your trade as you planned • Overcome your fear: Do exactly the opposite what your lizard wants, scale into winners, cut losers short.. that is the key one thing to make sure • Have a long-term view: One trade does not give you any feedback at all on your strategy or abilities as a trader. Think long term and keep statistics on your entries and setups to review after a series of trades • • … this leads to our Lizard brain taking over in the heat of the moment, only selectively filtering information that confirms our plan, to see opportunities only and jump into trades, to let fear overtake and cut trades early or lift the stops in order to avoid losses • After a trade we are depressed or euphoric… leading again to irrational behavior… greedy or fearful • This mindset if not addressed properly is the key reason for 95% of traders losing money and never turning consistently profitable A checklist… key is to build a probabilistic mindset, that is obsessed with the trading process: - Plan your trades thoroughly, work hard - Do not predict, stay open and observe - Be aware that most moves are random - Be very selective, let it come to you - Do not overthink, enter if confirmed - Never chase a move - Never change a plan - Scale into winners bold - Let you stop hit like a man, never lift it - Expect a random outcome - Do not try to be right - Focus on execution, do not look at PnL - No emotions, stay calm and concentrated or stop - Review statistically and have a diary 4 SB STYLE TRADING – WHAT IS IT? Stacey Burke is a tenured senior trader that developed his own trading system based on a broad variety of influencers Influencers Key elements of his trading system • Toby Crabel: OR trading, Out of balance markets • Identifying trapped traders: FBs and 3 Day Cycle • Schabacker, Robert D. Edwards and John Magee: Classical charting, chart patterns, measured moves • Break in structure reversals: FRW, FGW, FRD, FGD signals, 15m BIS, 1m BIS, second mouse gets the cheese • Peter Brandt: Classical charting, price is always in a box, measured moves, seek consolidations, asymmetrical risk reward • Consolidations for measured moves: IW, ID signals, coils, working low or high • 3 Pushes: Market manipulation to trick human behavior on any timeframe • Steve Mauro: Beat the market maker trading style • Where is the money: Identification of key liquidity zones as targets • Mike Bellafiore: One good trade, The Playbook • Other timeframe traders: The power of higher timeframes drives larger moves • Mark Douglas: We don’t need to know what the market is doing next to make money • Only two types of trades: Pump and Dump and Dump and Pumps, wait for the manipulation, once you see it you cannot unsee it • Jim Rogers “I just wait until there is money laying in the corner, and all I have to do is go over there and pick it up. I do nothing in the meantime” • 12 candle window: Key trading hours, where the volume comes in, goal is to trade one hour a day • Bill Lipschutz “If most traders would learn to sit on their hands 50% of the time, they would make a lot more money • Setups: Only trade your setups, do not chase moves • (not exhaustive) • Asymmetrical risk reward: only hunt for 90:10 setups • Out of balance markets: breakout, reverse or range mode? • Nail and Bail: Don’t give anything back, lock in the money and go off the screen • Mindset and discipline: Patience pays, have a process, meditate • Outside: if you are not outside, you are inside, don’t get trapped Stacey built a unique and very successful end to end trading system over the years, that provides a very strong edge: - Understanding and following the market makers in their manipulations - Waiting for retail traders to get trapped and punished - Seeking for larger chart pattern that point to large scale parabolic measured moves - …. a high probability, low screen time system 5 SB STYLE TRADING – THE BASIC PATTERNS Most SB Style setups come back to few basic patterns that repeat over and over again Reversal setups Parabolic setups • Most trade setups are either a pump and dump or a dump and pump • • The market traps traders on one side and moves explosively to take out profitable traders on the other side Parabolic setups build liquidity by trapping traders on both sides over multiple days within a narrow range • Typically leads to explosive measured moves • Signals/ patterns: ID, PFH/ PFL, 3 days into high/ low • Signals/ patterns: FRD/FGD, 3DL, 3DS The Pump and Dump The Short/ Long Squeeze Momentum setups • Momentum setups provide the opportunity to join a move that is already on its way, following a news catalyst or a setup from the previous session • Signals/ patterns: 3 push pullback against trend after strong setups The Low Hanging Fruit 6 SB STYLE TRADING – D1, D2, D3 ”If you can count to 3 you can make a lot of money… day 1 , day2 , day3!”… what does that mean? 3 days of breakouts (PnD, DnP) 3 day cycle (Trapped traders) Weekly cycle 3 days coil (Parabolic moves) Rationale How to trade? • 3 consecutive days levels broken out in one direction, without taking previous lows… • Expect pump and dump or dump and pump pattern • Look for weakness/ BIS on all timeframes consecutively • … indicating an out of balance market that builds liquidity of profitable traders stops on the other side • FRX, FGX as additional confluence • Failed breakout of last days level at high or low of the week trapping traders in wrong direction • Expect a parabolic trend or reversal trade on day 3 after FB • Day 2 with trend trade opportunity after pulling back to BO level • … indicating a recurring cycle of pulling away from them for a following parabolic reversal or continuation move • On day 1 potentially already a deathline setup • New volume impulse coming in Monday Day 1 • • … starting cycle of D1 impulse, D2 trend, D3 parabolic Expect a parabolic trend or reversal trade on D3 Wednesday and Friday • Building up liquidity in a narrow range, PFH/PFL, working high, low or contracting sideways • Expect measured moves with range expansion targets • Be aware of fakeouts, with contracting of sideways coils • … indication for a measured move once it breaks out of one side, squeezing the other • Inside day as signal for contracting coil • … often move initiated by a stop hunt or fake-out • Look for BIS and ascending triangle into major time rotations You need to become a pattern recognition expert that waits patiently for the large parabolic trades to set up over multiple d ays: - The patterns repeat over and over again, wait for them to appear, search across timeframes you will spot them - Most setups are a combination of these 4 patterns, try to understand this, map it on your chart, look for confluences Example 1: Dump and pump in a weekly template, with a FGD, FB at LOW Thursday, coiling over 3 sessions for a parabolic reversal Example 2: Daily PFH, PFL, with following ID signal, 3 sessions of fall into Open, FB 1 st hour low with at EQO for measured move Remark: This patterns appear on all timeframes, months, weeks, days, sessions, 15m, …7 SB STYLE TRADING – GENERIC WEEKLY TEMPLATE The generic weekly template shows a higher timeframe 3 wave pattern following the market maker manipulation that builds along the week – the higher timeframe bias and the signals help to identify the best setups along the cycle Monday Tuesday Wednesday Frontside Downtrend or Uptrend? Bullish above breakout level Fakeout High • Bearish below breakout level • Neutral/ Keeps bias of last day • Bullish above breakdown level • Bearish below breakdown level Inside Fakeout Low • The assumption is that the most recent movement will persist unless there’s clear evidence to suggest otherwise. • This structured process may result in slightly later entries compared to others, but it ensures trades are consistently aligned with the prevailing market momentum. • pd High • The "perspective" for each timeframe is based on the most recent significant action at a key price level—it reflects the latest insight provided by the market. • Instead of predicting, the approach relies on interpreting what’s unfolding and responding accordingly. Short with trend *** * Pullback reversal High time frame downtrend continuation Note: This shows only one illustrative scenario, there are many variations of this • The most favourable trades in terms of risk-to-reward are typically located at peak formations. • These turning points often emerge after several breakout attempts, culminating in a reversal near a prior high or low. • Reversals are spotted by analysing the shift in momentum on lower timeframes. • Momentum that breaks through a previous breakout level signals the beginning of a directional move. • When reversals occur against the dominant trend, they create pullbacks, which establish the key peak formations. • The optimal trade opportunities arise when the market reverses for a higher timeframe pullback within the prevailing trend. It’s a premium subscription community that is heavily focused on bitcoin trading. They trade with tools like volume profiles, Fibonacci, order blocks, harmonics, ranges, TPO charts and real-time order flow software. • A very good trader, my mentor at the time, introduced me to the weekly template and market maker manipulation...which immediately fascinated me, and I suspected that the key to real breakthrough was buried there. • After some research on this topic, I came across Stacey on You Tube and was immediately hooked. I left the other community and focused fully on SB style, watching his videos every day, purchased his playbook as soon as it came out, traded the approach every day and developed my own system that comb ines SB style with my other successful elements. • How did I crack his system? It's not that complex in the end, he’s just not good at explaining it. I am used to isolating the essence in situations like this. I was a management consultant for many years, so this has been my daily bread for a long time. I dug into the system for months and made it my own, structured it and wrote it down... and I then developed it even further. • The main addition I fully integrated is my Muti-timeframe approach. It takes an element of Stacey’s approach (only three things that markets do), drives it further and sets it even before many of Stacey Signals. This enhanced my trading further and made it more consistent • Since 2023 I have gathered my own small community of good traders around me with whom I discuss daily, I developed my own pla ybook and I actively coach other traders, not too much, just selectively, so that it does not interfere with my trading, which is my main source of income Personal background • I have degrees in engineering and business administration and have been partner in a global management consultancy • Extreme sports are my passion, I have been a professional snowboarder, have been surfing the world, mountain biking every pat h in the alps, and I run a small kids snowboard business in parallel, with a board that I developed myself • I have 3 kids and are fully dedicated to my family now, trading provides this opportunity… when my kids come home, I don’t wo rk or trade Students Quotes “Thank you so much for the detail you provide in your Playbook PDFs and your completed trades. Your concise comments on your trades help me to see into the logic of the SB style in action.” “Thank you so much for this session, it was truly inspiring” “Your pages and your explanations really resonate with me it all becomes so much clearer now” “You have a unique ability structuring things from a helicopter perspective, and you are connecting the dots in a way even Stacey doesn't” “You are always explaining the why behind it, that helps enormously” “I just wanna say a big thank you to you. I’ve gone through the playbook repeatedly, it’s genius. I honestly can’t thank you enough. It has really helped in defining my system, adopting a heat map and a concrete end to end process. I still am mind-blown by what I read in 33 there. Thank you so much. Life changing stuff. QUOTES – THE PLAYBOOK What are the habits of successful traders? 1. Successful traders have meaningful attachments or some other source of motivation and happiness outside of the financial markets. 2. Successful traders are proactive; they know what they need to learn, and they know what they need to do to execute. Being active alone is not sufficient. 3. Successful traders tend to be process driven; they develop and refine routines that turn good trading behaviors into habits and execute these routines habitually. 4. Successful traders have a unique signature; they have an edge that they execute consistently and improve constantly. 5. Successful traders treat every trade as a learning opportunity, especially losing trades. 6. Successful traders identify their A+ setups, best products, and optimal time frames that are most intuitive for them and work to maximize their production in those ideas. 7. Successful traders avoid thinking in dollar terms; they standardize in terms of percentages to measure performance as well as put on risk. 8. Successful traders have a sniper mentality; they are prepared to wait for as long as it takes and ready to pull the trigger when a valuable targets appear in their scope. 9. Successful traders have a comprehensive set of measurable and challenging yet realistic goals; they regularly evaluate their progress and always ask what they need to do to make further progress toward their goals. 10.
